lines of the day – ‘Mott:’I root for the Jets the same way you root for the Giants’..GV – ‘so you hate them’ and one of the best lines of all time, ‘this show all week is going to be almost unwatchable to anyone who can’t deal with Jets talk’

Phenomenal show – I always love the ones where GV is pumped by recent Jets victories and his mood is through the roof for this one

My second episode watched. I drink champagne 1-30 only because my friends and wife do not drink it. I would love to drink it more. I love champagne and like most people the price is sometimes prohibitive. I love well made CA sparklers. like more red wine in my mix I tend toward the Blanc d Noirs. From Nebraska orig. red beer is there but not prominent. would love a month of Champ.

Gary I am a little dissapointed with the amount of voice you had left for this episode. Up here in Canada we have a great football team the Saskatchewan Roughriders. After 99 years in the league we have 3 championships. We even lost 4 championship games straight at one point and ended up going 0-5 over a six year period. When the Riders made the Grey Cup this year my family canceled Christmas because it was more important for use to go to the game instead. We were leading the whole game and lost with 0 seconds left of the clock to a field goal. I was coughing up blood the next day I had yelled so hard. I think you all so need to add the Riders to a football team you cheer for. Especially if you like the underdog.

qotd 1, I own a record label so of course I think there are people making great music today because I think I am one of them however…. I do have to say that out of the dozens of demos I listen to every day there are only a handful a year that have the potential to be great. qotd2, not much of a gambler however… it is a very big risk to start your own business and it is often a bigger gamble than heading to vegas with your rent money! I have “won” the ability to only work doing jobs I love. I am not saying that I love every task I have to do every day because some of them are awful but there is no aspect of my life that is something that I do “just for the paycheck”.

First time time writer, long time watcher! Hi Gary! I love your show…I learn a ton about wine and I laugh because you are very entertaining. I just wanted to make a quick comment about the RED BEER…..I manage a bar in NYC (Brother Jimmy's BBQ) and we have a drink during brunch called a Bloody Beer. It is Bud Light, tomato juice, worchestire, tabasco and freshly squeezed lime served on just a little bit of ice. It is by far one of my favorite brunch drinks. You should stop in some time and try it out! 🙂

Keep doing what your doing and go JETS! They had quite a season, you have no choice but to be proud of them!!

I'm sure Pierre Chouteau is happy you've decided his name is pronounced 'Peer'.

Love your show Gary! Heard you mention doing a month of sparkling wines! It's a great idea. Sparkling wines are 1:4 for me. I think it would be great in July with all the fireworks.

  • I definitely need to try the gewurztraminer – sounds epic.

Cannot believe you never heard of drinking Tomatoe juice and beer. I got my friends drinking it some 25 years ago and Budwieser came out with it in a can a couple of years ago. Not easy to finf though.

Sparkling to still is about 1:150.

We want a red beer tasting on the show!

    Let's dip some dip!

Hi Gary. Do you really pick up on comments that are posted on old episodes? I’ve been a lurker for about a month now (nearly caught up on the 2010 episodes), and I felt I couldn’t stay in the shadows anymore. For my birthday yesterday, my grandmother (93 years old) gave me at set of champagne glasses that my late grandfather (who would 100 years old now) received on his 50th birthday half a century ago. And since I had a Cremant d’Alsace (with raindeer, by the way, an amazing pairing) for my birthday, I thought I’d search for the word “Cremant” on WLTV (hence I came across this episode). Brilliant episode!

Re: your mini-QOTD: of the 12 bottles I have at home right now, 10 are sparkling.
