  • It was a good show.

The QOTD is no question at all… Medium Rare.

  • Yeah, I've never liked anything from BV. I've tasted several in their 20 dollar range and they were like 85-86 point wine for my palate. It makes sense that their 61 dollar wine is only a 90 pointer.

steak …RARE !!! I started as ayoung ladd at well and through the years have progressed to RARE… LOVE YOU AND YOUR SHOW AND EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you enjoy our Cabs! Your steak preference would be fantastic with a little Georges de Latour Private Reserve too! Cheers

Agree that the 2005 vintage was underrated, but out this month in WS Laube just rated our 2007 vintage with 91 pts! Will be released later this year…

“Firm, ripe, rich and concentrated, full-bodied and tightly focused, with a chewy core of dried currant, mineral, fresh earth, spice, black licorice and dried sage, gaining weight, depth and density, and ending with a potent, full-bodied finish.” Best from 2011 through 2018.?J.L

    Thanks James!

Great things happening here at the winery – we have the new Georges de Latour winery & our winemaker Jeffrey Stambor is very excited at what he is seeing with the upcoming vintages!! cheers

Awww the good ol’ 68 Georges de Latour Private Reserve – this was a vintage that “did it” for a lot of people. Glad you enjoyed!! Cheers

Steak, medium rare..and then when the steak is gone, take a piece of bread and sop up all the blood and down the hatch!!

GV – Nice to see Cali back on the map in WLTV land!

QOTD: I like my meat medium, but if it is dry aged I go medium rare!

    OUT!

  • I have been on a Cali Cab kick as of late. a 2000 Stags Leap cab with a nice steak at a local establishment that doesnt charge a corkage fee ( I love those guys). And then a 2002 Le Vin Cabernet (mendocino county) That I liked more then the stags leap but only after it had been opened for 24 hours.

QOTD: I have progressed, or is it regressed from a med -well to a medium steak. Which sometimes ends up more like med-rare. But I want to try pittsburgh style. It sounds like something I would really like, plus is PIttsburgh baby 🙂 hahah Go steelers. In fact if you havent asked this as a QOTD before, you have mentioned pittsburgh style on a previous episode. I remember looking it up, but never remember to order it.

qotd: Med Rare [Sous Vide at 56C]

  • A dumb Rhein king

lol. I love the term un-american. It holds so much meaning to some peeps, but when broken down is completely ridiculous.

QOTD: Medium rare. I'm going to give black and blue a try though.

  • ewb

    Solid effort Gary.
QOTD: Med-rare. But if it comes out of the kitchen rare I'm good with that too.

  • cubs2806

Good show, haven't watched in a week but loved the show, glad you enjoyed the wines. Are you getting any of the 07 scarecrow or tasting it anytime soon?
Qotd Med rare – Rare…..depends on the steak, fillet closer to rare.

  • John_Kenneth_J

qotd med rare, once in a blue moon I'll throw in a pittsburgh

  • JonathanAlfaro

Medium rare. But I'm going to try Black and Blue next time!!!

  • Valentin

I like my steak black and blue as you Gary. Unfortunately there is no steak culture in Switzerland what so ever. However steak from Ireland, USA and Argentina are also available for an elevated price because of the prohobitive customs tariffs. Nevertheless you can be assured that I never will pick a Swiss steak!

  • Trevor Palen

QOTD: Med Rare. Med Rare + on a Ribeye (burst that marbling and flavor that steak.

I've worked in a steakhouse for the last 4 years…I've seen WAY too many steaks cooked above Medium :-(.

I had no idea about wine library or Gary until yesterday when I was on a Virgin America flight from NY to LA. This episode was available for viewing and I checked it out. LOVED IT!!!! Gary is absolutely highlarious! There were two other episodes available and I watched both of those. I can’t wait to tell all my friends about this site.
