Thanks for reviewing some Riesling! I'm on the lookout for the Leitz! Heymann Lowenstein has always come short of my expectations too. I've got a lot of respect for what he does, but the few wines of his that I've tried have been a bit hot and austere for my tastes. Cheers!

OK here's the deal. Riesling, sure, it's awesome. I love the juice, it's good from the grapes with the skins and the seeds and the whole crushing with the yeast and the alcohol. But, dude, why did you have to mention the WC at the end? You have to understand man: I'm an American who spent the 2002 World Cup in Korea and who now lives in Japan and is married to a Japanese. World Cup = Sadness Central Station. The US and Korea were valiant but were bested and Japan lost off ONE damn PK kick by Komano. Japan was toe-to-toe with Paraguay the whole match and will still be thought of as a second rate team cuz of that one shot. Damn, man, c'mon.
But I have to give my answer, right?
So, here it is: I don't give a flying f*&k. And, whoever wins can go suck a bottle of Riesling.

Thanks for the great show. I think the Keller needs some more year in the cellar. The Keller wines especially the First Growth are not made to be drunk at a young age.

YES! Riesling, the true king of the white grapes. I obsess over it. Excellent classic show. I MUST get my hands on that Leitz. I've always been impressed by their bottlings, but I haven't had that one yet. QOTD – Germany. C'mon, it's the Riesling show!

Great show, thanks. A quick dummies guide to German pronunciation; “e-i say eye”, “i-e say ee”! Very simple to remember. So “Leitz” is pronounced “Lyetz” (not sure how to write it phonetically) and not “Leetz”! Cheers.

by the way, you can´t compare a 2008 Keller with a 2009 Leitz. sure thing the 2009 takes the lead! 2009 has been a toptop year for the riesling!

QOTD: Every riesling I have bought always seems to be from Mosel. And Riesling is my next white wine to search out a big knock out type wine!! That Leitz sounds like it would be great!!

Good show. I love you pronouncing the names of old German vineyards. Did you know that in the Rheingau region the “1” stands for “Erstes Gewächs” (“First Growth”) whereas it stands for “Grosses Gewächs” (“Great/Prime Growth”) in the rest of Germany? It allocated by the association VdP to wines from the top vineyard sites.

the audio volume normally is too low, Gary, although all my volume controls are put to max, most episodes u can barely listen! sending from Rio de Janeiro.

Any Riesling fans, if they have not already, should go out and get and read “Reading Between the Wines,” by Terry Thiese. It’s a lovely book, and 3/4ths is spent in some way celebrating German Rieslings.
