EP 918 2005 Marques de Riscal

Checking in on one of the most classic producers of Rioja, Marques de Riscal. The 90 point score caught my attention big time, does it live up to the hype?

Good episode, will look for the Marques de Riscal.

QOTD – Usually a Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand.

A vintage year like 2005 could do that but I would still pass for the price point / value.

QOTD: Too many to name. Depends on my mood and what we’re eating.

qotd: Dont have a hump day wine, depends on my mood Ill grab a wine, can be a muscadet to a brunnello to a 1er Cru Burgundian who knows could be a cup of tea

  • QOTD: Hump day wine, hmm, well I think if I am going to go to the SAQ right now and pick up a bottle of wine it would be the Malivoire Gamay. Man, there aren’t many left in Montreal, but it’s soo good. I love my Niagara red. It’s 18$ but it’s so delicious and I would totally drink a glass a day for the week. I love to savour that sweet sweet niagara nectar.

I don’t understand many of the comments here : Marqués de Riscal reserva is a “sure value”, and although some complain about its price, where do you find a decent US wine (or a French wine) for that price?
If you really want to thrill with a Rioja or a wonderful “old world wine” wonderful value for price, go for a “Tondonia”…also a visit of the bodega is a must!

QOTD : I have the luck to live in Spain, so my “daily” wines come mainly from little known regions, like Campo de Borja. Brilliant price for money, at 3-4?/bottle. Or a nice 75cl bottle of special beer, from my home country, Belgium…with spicey dishes, there’s almost nothing better than a Lachouffe…check it out!
