Finally had the chance to taste all three. Neither my wife nor I was a big fan of the Caro Dorum Crianza. It seemed very harsh to us. Extremely drying on the finish. We decanted ahead, but it just wasn't enough. Maybe with another 3-5 years, it would soften up a bit.

The Misterio we both liked a lot. Great purple color. On the nose we both picked up raisins or dried blueberries. This wine was very delicious on the attack, then moved to an interesting tea mix on the end. The finish was very short, though.

We also really like the Marques de Vitorio. Color was beginning to show an orange tint on the edges, as appropriate for an older wine. For me, the nose was cherry pie with vanilla icing. Loved it. The attack was broad, with a creamy center, and the finish was long and smooth. Cherries on the outside of the mouth, and I did agree with some of the graininess up the middle, as well as a dollop of whipped cream. We agreed that we wanted the flavors of the Misterio with the smoothness and finish of the Vitorio.

Good pack, overall. Great contrast in styles with a varietal I don't try all that often. Didn't like it quite as much as last month, but enough to make me look forward to the July pack.

the reason you think the rioja would go well with fish, is because it taste like fish dip, that little bit of 'pickle juice' just says kingfish or mahi dip to me, and for wine to remind of that is awesome.

thanks, an really great wine, just waiting for some pineapple mojo chicken to come to temp

cheers

Tried the Misterio, finished it up the second night.
Good up front fruit, and then some vegetal action on my midpalate, you said rhubarb, i was thinkin something big and green, never had rhubarb, but chard and the like came to mind. definitely felt the black tea thing goin on.

will report back when we get into the other two
thanks

I can't wait to get my July club b order. This is a really cool idea. We're definitely going to have people over to watch the video and try the wine. I wish it would get here faster!

Gary,

The rioja is the best thing that you've offered in the past three months. It's awesome. Enough to prompt an order.
