I have made my cousins in Greece excited about the Thunder Show, by sending them emails encouraging them to watch the Thunder Show, and asking them to tell all of their their friends in Greece about the show, so that someday you will perhaps feature some Greek wines on your show. There is a whole country full of “potential Van-i-acs” out there, just waiting for the excitement you bring to the Wine World!!

    GV – Great contest!

I’ve written a letter to Paste magazine, asking them to feature you in their “The Paste 7″ section in an upcoming issue. This would seriously spread the thunder if it gets published. The magazine is good about listening to its readers, and I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them don’t already watch.

If you haven’t read Paste magazine before, check it out.

I have been here since the first episode. Since I have told everyone about the show already, I will be sporting my old school WLTV t-shirt along with both styles of wristbands to the Rhoneranger Events in SF in March, Hospice du Rhone In Paso Robles in May and the International Pinot Noir Festival in July up in Oregon…that’s how I roll! Photos to follow…

For me it was to tell everyone at work (40 people) and all my friends and family (30) people and I tell anyone else that shows any interest in wine. The Christmas pac was a great story to tell so that people will check the Thunder out. I also like to do my imitation of the Gary intro just to let people know it’s not a stuffy wine show that puts you to sleep.

Wow! 400! Congratulations GV. I love the WLTV show. I have spread the thunder to my family. Every month we have an open house Red Gravy dinner(Spaghetti sauce). We even send out postcards with the dates all listed. It is open to family and friends alike. We started it to keep our kids and their friends coming back once they got to that age of independence. Anyway, I have spread the thunder to them on multiple occaisions, all of them have watched you and “sniffy sniff” and “give it a whirl” are a part of our meal vocabulary now as we enjoy different wines with our dinner. If you are ever in the Chicago area drop me a line and if Red Gravy is on the calendar, you have a standing invitation. I’m looking forward to the next 400 episodes.

Last summer visited NYS fair winecourt sportin the WLTV swag (day 1 orig vayniac T with both wristbands)(day 2 winelibrary monitor shirt w/wristbands)talking to the people tasting about the website… and the msg JUST HAVE FUN!!!

also found myself very often sending people to the thundershow site… im a meat cutter at wegmans in cny. and try to explain to people its about what you like.. not what other people say to like.. (funny story as i actually almost got terminated when i took a wine spectator mag out of a customers shopping cart and tore it in half because they said WS told them to drink a certain wine with dinner.. *didnt realize it was there copy and not a copy for sale in the store* after a little explaining and a postit note with wltv’s site they seemed okay with the enthusiasm and were on their way with dinner and an interesting story to tell…

Ok…so I suscribed….and I’ve been spreading the thunder since last summer..when customers come into our restaurant and are looking for value I write your webpage on the back of my card…with a few other small links. i also talk to and through distributors…and of course I also talk to my fellow students…would emails from all of them help?

    Rob C

Gary, I’ve had a link to WLTV once before that went out in our winery newsletter. The distro list is over 7,000 subscribers for the newsletter. The next newsletter goes out on the 15th of February and I will have an article in it to spread the word about the thunder show!

    late-start

Realizing the continuous pressure I put on my closest family and friends to watch you daily is not nearly enough. I’ll do the standard link you up on my facebook and myspace pages and send messages to all my friends. But I don’t have the networking skills of my younger brother and I’m going to convince that he also “link you up” on his myspace site and message all his friends (thousands of them). Lastly I’m going to start a new blog at my .mac account and the thunder show will be my first topic. It’s the least I can do to give back.

  19. February 4, 2008

    Kidder

I did “SPREAD THE THUNDER” at a social site called THE WINE SPACE, by putting
your banners on all my friends pages, and in a blog, and in a bulliten.
Then mysteriously I was banned from Wine Space, I dont really care… Oh yes
and left a comment on Itunes a month ago…

I’ll tell you all about the way I spread the thunder. . . later. For now, cheer up buttercup. My russian friend Sasha Bobylev missed the vodka tasting, he demanded we do one here at AmericanWinery.com on a thirsty thursday (instead of wine) and we agreed. It was fun, and he would have shed a tear today. Maybe we’ll replay it again tomorrow for him.

Dude I’m spreading the thunder since I got into it. Friends, family, coworkers, anyone who’ll listen I’m sending links to. AWESOME. On top of all that, I’m going to post a blog entry, add an itunes comment and rate it, post a link to my favourite eps in facebook, twitter it, change my IM status, send a voice message to all of my xbox friends (you’ll know, ’cause Mott will get it!!), share it on google reader, dot it in bluedot, digg it on digg, and send an email to everyone I know that they should check it out – not an ad, but a really truly guys you should really take a look at this crazy nut, you will laugh and have a good time watching. Thanks for 400 so far, looking forward to many, many more!!

Oh man….party with the “Chuk”…..oh I am sOooooo spreading the word….I have a Myspace and put up a Blog an there telling all to watch….I don’t have a million Friends there BUT, they are a great bunch who tend to listen to my suggestions.

Also…..I go taste at 3-4 different Wine shops every week…..I tell everyone(including the owners/workers at said shops)all about the show….I am one of those people that always has something to say(I have always been called the “loud mouth” or the “talkative one”….haha)and if I LOVE or hate(all LOVE for you GV….nothing but LOVE my brother!)something I always let my opinions to be known to all.

I will keep spreading the Thunder in any way I can…..if people can just remove the stereotypes from wine they will enjoy it so much more!

OK Gary, I think I have it figured out.

Yes I tell everyone I know and love about the thunder show, but, this has limited value, on account of living here in stupid old Jersey hating Minnesota. So, how will I spread the good word better? I will take it up with our little govenor Tim Pawlenty (tim.pawlenty@state.mn.us), and the senior members of the state house, using the wine library as a microcosm of all that is right and good about free trade between states. I’ll copy you on anything juicy.

I’m getting kind of fired up now. Life, liberty and the pursuit of sniffy sniff.

Hey Gary I am constantly spreading the word each day at work and to all of my friends. If it wasn’t for my best friend I wouldn’t have ever found your website. I recently became a friend on Facebook and have taken the time to post on a few episodes so I can get out of the lurker status. I still have a link on my website to your ask Gary application. You can check it out if you want at the bottom of the page.

I think you are definantly changing the wine world with each episode. Hopefully someday in the not too distant future you can tour our 72 acre vineyard and sample some great wines from southern Oregon. I will do my part to continue to spread the Thunder. Once the tasting room goes in I will make sure each customer has a link to your website on our fliers. Hopefully we as a whole can continue to educate all wine drinkers and make the art of wine tasting more enjoyable.

Hmm, where to start the list:
    * recommending WLTV since about episode 100 to anyone who will listen – to date at least 20 cases of wine have been purchased from this evangelism (including 1 order for 10 cases)
    * regular digger of WLTV episodes – and how else can one person help bring people to WLTV than helping to get WLTV on the front page of digg!
    * regular references to WLTV on my blog (qprwine.blogspot.com) including links to buy my recommended wines from Wine Library
    * facebook friend (hey, that says a lot – I hate facebook!)
    * made it all the way through garyissorry.com – and I know that isn’t bringing the thunder – that’s just endurance baby!
    * one of the three people signed up for cork’d ;)

    Keep on bringing the thunder,

    Travis

I’ve been spreading the thunder, one bottle at a time. I review everything that I taste on Cork’d… I simply tell people to try lots of wines. I talk about (and email links) WLTV when talking with friends about wine.

I recommended Gary on Linkedin last year, saying that “Gary’s laid back approach to tasting and talking about wine demystifies and extremely complex subject, giving newbie and casual wine drinkers the confidence they need to purchase and enjoy wine in their daily lives. By taping and broadcasting literally hundreds of episodes of WineLibrary TV, Gary has introduced wine lovers to both classic and unusual wines and wine styles from around the world.” December 26, 2007
Top qualities: Personable, Expert, High Integrity

I have recommended Gary’s WLTV episodes often to my wine students, and blogged about WLTV today at my Wine and Food Pairing Blog – http://kathleenlisson.blogspot.com/2008/02/free-wine-tasting-podcasts-great-way-to.html

Thanks for the great content, Gary. Your show is an educational resource for wine lovers everywhere.

Boy oh boy. I can’t say that I do anything crazy like tattoo WLTV on my forehead and walk around but Here is a list of how I spread the thunder:
    -Comment on iTunes

-Watch ever episode, mainly at work without head phones so I get all my coworkers in on it “whether they like it or not”. Even the bossman is in on it some days

-Go to wine stores and tell the clerks that I watch WLTV to get educated on wine and get the heads up on new things to try

-Take drives in to WL from PA and bring a group of friends with me when I do come visit

-Bring a bottle of wine to friends houses and have them watch episodes of WLTV

-You good sir are my friend on LinkedIn (where I recommended you), MySpace, Facebook, Cork’d, Twitter, Pownce

-I have a WLTV widget on my MySpace profile

-I have the spread the Thunder app on Facebook

-I have Ask Gary app on Facebook (which I do ask you questions, thanks for getting back so quick p.s. I am not brown nosing!!! haha)

-Member of the Save WLTV, Vayniacs, and the don’t cancel WLTV groups on facebook.

That is all that I can think of for right now. If there is more I will be sure to let you know. Keep up the good work. We all would miss you if you stopped this great VidCast for good.

I will always preach the winelibrary gospel all over the Internet and to all my friends.

However, last Friday while I was at a birthday party, the discussion of wine came up. Everyone felt that I was very knowledgeable about the subject and very enthusiastic about wine. Of course, this was in huge part thanks to you. Anyways I told everyone about the Thunder Show, and just so happened to have a few episodes on my iPhone. I lost track of my phone for about 3 hours while it was passed around to everyone so they could watch the big GV!! I am sure I got you at least 30 new viewers that night.

I will continue to spread the word about the show, it is the least I could do for all of the information and happiness you bring to me.

    Thanks Gary.

Dude. We here in New Mexico are second only to Florida in lighting strikes, so we have lots of thunder to work with. I do the weekly grocery shopping for the family and I generally hit both Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. I like to get in the check-out line next to someone who is purchasing several bottles of vino and then start talking up the THUNDER SHOW. Of course, the checker and all those around get in on the conversation. That’s how I spread the thunder!

    Let’s see, things I’ve done:
    - Added BOTH facebook applications as soon as you’ve announced them.
    - Talked you up/linked/posted on BOTH wine.woot and Daniel Rogov’s wine forum at every possible opportunity. Additionally, IsraeliWineDirect and HaKerem Israeli Wine Blog.
    - Seen things that approach flavor combinations you describe and tell people about it, and make them watch
    - Told all my friends about you and forced them to watch by withholding wine until they do. This even includes my Orthodox friends.
    - Made my parents start coming to you instead of (the unfairly named) Gary’s.
    - Added both the widget-type things to my blog
    - Linked to all the Petite Sirah episodes from my Petite Sirah blog (and will blog about this tomorrow).
    - Walked around Giants Stadium Parking Lot looking for you with my friends at Giants-Jets, telling them they had to meet you; alas, it was unsuccessful.
    - Told all my friends and relatives this summer in Holland and Israel about the show, made them watch. This after wearing *both* wristbands around Israel for a month.
    - Sent a link to the Castel people about your Castel episode, after telling them how awesome WLTV was in person, and taking pictures @ castel (yes, check my facebook) with my wristbands on their library magnums and bottles. Same with Sea Horse.

I have been spreading the thunder since I first caught you this spring. Most of my Texas buddies can’t hang with you, they think you are a little over the top. But what the heck do they know. So..my thunderbolt is extremely lame.

Like many of the posts here, in the past year I have continually spread the thunder to friends and family by sending them clips of wine reviews that I think they would like because they are funny or cover a wine they drink. I’ve targeted my family using the Thanksgiving and Christmas wine packs and have worked through my own tastings for my friends.

GV has made it too easy to spread the thunder in the past. So what to do now? A mass e-mail and a post on a blog I write on seem too easy. I have a thought, hopefully it will work.

  42. February 4, 2008

    Robert Ryan

Congrats…on the 400th episode! February 19th can not come soon enough! Ways that I spread the thunder:
-I just went to Google Earth and typed in 586 Morris Ave Springfield, NJ(WLTV) and zoomed all the way in on the WLTV building and was able to lable that location as the home of Gary Vaynerchuk with a little description and website info. Now when somebody looks there and clicks on the location the thunder is as good as spread! I’m suprised nobody down at WLTV has done this already!Mott, Link that up!!

-I just created my fantasy baseball team and my 2008 team is called “The Vayniacs!” Everyone in the league is going to ask about the name and the thunder will spread!

-I just printed up 500 flyers that promote Gary Vaynerchuk and the Wine Library. I am going to distribute all of these the old fashioned way by putting them on windshields at the train station in the morning and I also printed up fifty that have 20 little tear off tabs on the bottom with the website printed on them. These I am going to tape up at strategic points in Grand Central Station tomorrow! There is literally going to be a Thunder Storm in Grand Central tomorrow!!!

-My wife just finshed up putting http://www.Winelibrarytv.com on both our car trunks with leftover stick on letters that we have for our Real Estate Business. Wasn’t it Bruce Springstein that sung ‘Thunder Road’

1 – have emailed tons of people and spread the gospel of gary over the internet. have gotten a lot of friends to start watching the show, comment, and experience new things.

2 – my fiance hates this but i’m CONSTANTLY talking to strangers in liquor stores and telling them not to buy the marketed junk that brings nothing to the table (veuve, yellow tail, perrier jouet, etc) – the jersey boy in me (even though i’ve called LA home now for almost 7 years).

3 – straight up got in a yelling BRAWL at K&L in Hollywood with an employee who actually GAVE ME A HARD TIME because I was wearing my Gary V In An Antique Shop (that I bought at Wine Library on a special trip back to NJ) Shirt – he was going on about the conflict of interest of your ratings nd being a retailer and I had to put the SMACK down (verbally, of course) and set him straight. Needless to say, I make sure I’m wearing that shirt every time I go to a tasting there haha.

4 – started a tradition with a lot of my friends (which has fanned out EVERYWHERE) now going into week 2 of this season – of watching the day’s WLTV episode after LOST every week. because me and my friends are addicted to The Thunder Show AND the best TV show on the air – so we enjoy this every week.

5 – Every party I go to, every dinner party, every event, in addition to talking about WLTV, i try to spread the gospel of expanding and learning about your OWN palette and how people should try new things and never NEVER listen to what anyone else has to say about it! Like you say, you don’t let people tell you how to like your food, so why let people tell you what wine you should like?!?!

Thanks so much for everything you do – my favorite thing about your show is your emphasis on family and health, and i can honestly say that your show, and spreading the word about it, has become a great source of happiness, joy, and fulfillment to myself and my family. Win or not, I feel like we all win every day because we get to share in wine and share in this community.

Big G, I have spread the thunder from the very first day I saw WLTV. Everyone I know has the info on the Thunder Show, when I go to parties I do nothing but preach the Thunder. I have Wine parties and when my friends bring people they get the low down on the best show on the Internets.
So, what I’m saying is spreading the Thunder to me is just a way of Life. Rock On WLTV!

I have posted in some of the biggest cities on craigslist about watching the thunder show and how much it can improve on how people see wines. I have told EVERYONE I know about the thunder show including putting bookmarks on everyones computer so they can come by and see the show any time they want. I also have told the people at my local liquor store and grocery stores to PLEASE watch WLTV and try to improve there wine list to be more diverse for the community. Together were all going to spread the word that WLTV IS THE GREATEST SHOW EVER !!!!!

In addition to talking about WLTV and watching it with he volume up to loud so all my neighbors can hear it (I live in a dorm), my girlfriend and I will often try and bait people into letting us tell them all about WLTV. This is how it goes: we roll up to a party or get together or whatever and begin enjoying whatever tasty beverage they provide. We roll in the hard stuff, we roll in the beer, and of course we roll in the wine. And one of us says, “take a sniffy sniff,” and we go through a full flavor profile for whatever it is (loudly) untill someone says, “what do you mean when you say ‘oak monster’ or ‘butter bandit’ or ‘it smells like catfood.’” That way they brought it up and we get to talk about WLTV for however long we like. It has actually led to some funny exchanges where people have not asked about it the first time they heard us talking like that, but had started to use the lingo. While most everyone close to me in social terms has seen the show (because of me) I can imagine that there is a group of people out there taking “sniffy sniffs” who may not have actually heard of the thunder show yet, but are in their own way spreading the thunder.

Each and every day Im talking to someone about podcasts. And WLTV is number one on that list I say you MUST subscribe to. There isnt a day Im not telling someone about WLTV.

I got my Dad watching…yup my dad is a Vayniac. I got him setup on iTunes to get all the episodes. He is also making wine off our land with grapes my Grandfather planted in 1960. 50 year old vines, just a hand full that he planted just to be planting something not for wine making or the such, dad has picked and made a few batches of wine he has had laying up now for a couple years. So getting him into WLTV was a no-brainer

I did blog about you, http://www.bowlcorp.com on my personal blog.

Huge fan and have linked ya up on Facebook and Twiter. Have many many twiter posts about WLTV in my short time of twittering, http://www.twitter.com/bowlcut

And now as a former lurker…I spread the thunder by making comments.

    GV,

This isn’t maybe the most creative but it is maybe the most effective. When have friends or family over for dinner who aren’t Vayniacs yet, I’ll get them all fired up about your show over dinner & some good wine. Then, after dinner, I bring up some of the classic episodes on the home theater (I have my Mac hooked into the AV system). I always start w/ #125 to get them started, then maybe #148 or #182, and generally my favorite episode of the week – or better yet – if we are drinking something that has been on the show – bring up that show. By the end of the evening, I have newly converted Vayniacs. It’s a slow process, but we still have run out of folks to convert – so far

Other big spreader of the Thunder is wines we have ordered thru WL / WLTV. I have brought these to dinner parties & everyone is always impressed. Everyone says – Where did you get this & how did you know it was that good – I tell them it was on a GV / WLTV review – let them know what the show is all about. Everyone will be saying – Dang, that guy knows his stuff – & want to watch & learn at the masters feet.

Also post comments regularly – keep the post count up – gets newbies fired up that they are part of something huge (which is entirely true). Made a huge post on the Save the Show episode – hopefully inspired others to post as well.

If I can get extra pts, I might be able to hook you up with some “A+” quality fruit to do a Vayniac Red Rhone blend (let me know if you are interested & we can take it from there). A new Vayniac wine – a huge way to spread the thunder

I also have my WLTV wristbands prominently displayed in the cellar for all to see.

Gary, Mott, and all WineLibrary staff,

I have made two blog posts about WLTV in the last few months. The first was in December where I picked WLTV as my first ever “Web Gem” and I explain why I love the show. The second was made today, Monday Feb. 4th, and is a video telling people about WLTV, encouraging them to watch the show and Spread the Thunder themselves.

Please visit http://bruels.blogspot.com/2008/02/wltv-spreading-thunder.html to view my video. Thanks!

GV I spread the Thunder by practicing what you preach every day I love life I love my family and I adore my friends. I tell all my friends who enjoy wine to embrace their palates but also to drink decent wine. I tell them scores don’t matter and they are the best judge. Once i have them I tell them to check out http://tv.winelibrary.com if they want more of that great wisdom. Because I learned it from Gary Vay—ner—chuk! Oh and I also dressed up my myspace check it out…

yeah sent a message to my friends in facebook not that I have too many but did the little a could and I will keep telling people about it every time a can.(trieds the thunder apps from FB and did not work just so you know, had to share from the group)

Sorry, I’m not very creative, don’t have a personal website or Facebook, My Space or blog–but I am passionate about WLTV. I wrote a review on I-Tunes, e-mailed family and friends and have constantly told co-workers about the show. I also twice e-mailed Senators here in Washington State supporting legislation to allow out of state retailers to ship wine to in-state consumers. That’s not spreading the Thunder directly, but could lead to a larger “Thunderstorm” later on.

most of how I’ve been spreading is word of mouth. Especially to friends and family who don’t live near the store in NJ like I do. I’ve been spreading it since maybe episode 75, when I started watching daily! Of course, also a facebook (and twitter) friend. I’ve even told a few of my CLIENTS about watching your show!

Since discovering Wine Library TV late last year, I’ve been promoting the show to all the wine drinkers I know. And now I’m using facebook to the fullest extent I can to promote “The Thunder Show”. I’m also getting people to check out the Conan O’Brian episode featuring Gary, as I feel that’s not only a very funny but a great introduction to Gary and his “different” approach to the subject of wine (will we ever see Robert Parker eating cigars and dirt on nationwide television? I think not).

As person who has worked in the web field since 1995, I also use Gary’s approach as an excellent example of what can be great about this medium. Simple, and straight-forward (not much simpler than one man in front of a stationary camera), yet (as your huge following indicate) totally engaging to the audience. It’s a great way to show clients what can be done well on the web.

I wear my wrist band everywhere I go.

I have told my family about your site and show.

My brother is now a fan and bought a cult wine based on your recommendation.

Whenever I go out with wrist band I always talk about your show. I am usually a very quiet, reserved person, who would be called an introvert. Think the opposite of you. :) But now I am talking to complete strangers about your show.

I will have to think about what else I could do to spread the thunder but when I have something creative I will definitely let you know even if it is after the contest. Anything to help the show and SPREAD THE THUNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I run a large retail store in the Brass Mills Mall in Waterbury CT. I would love to hook up my video ipod to our setup and have the five BIG screen TV’s show a little vayner-love. Give me the okay to publicly display your show and it will be on multiple times a day for the 5 days a week I’m on duty for all passers-by to see. How’s that for thunder?

Thank you for keeping the thunder alive.

    Well GV and friends,

I wish that I could say that I’m doing some of these amazing things some of the other Vayniacs are doing, some of this stuff is really great! Being a younger guy and having many friends that are underage I can’t really do the myspace / facebook route, and I don’t have a video blog or blog really of any kind. But here is what I am doing.

    1. Any and all of my friends who are of drinking age like myself get thundered on hard, I tell them about winelibrary tv, send them links, ask them if they’ve been checking it out etc. and several of them are even giving wine a try even if they thought they HATED it due to the thundershow, so that’s nice, I’m glad to have even a few fellow wine drinkers around. but dont worry they soon will be more then wine drinkers, they will be Vayniacs! Vayniacs!

    2. Secondly I work at a small coffee roasting company and coffee house. I am a roaster and barista there, and I also help potential whole bean buyers learn more information about the different bean varietals, and help them develop their palates and find out what they like…. hey sounds familiar GV! Basically, Gary has inspired me to act more passionately about the work that I do, and try breaking down some of the barriers and misconceptions about coffee just like those that others have about wine. Lately I’ve often caught myself referring to earthiness as “the funky funk” or asking customers if they’d like a “sniffy-sniff” of the beans!

So what does that have to do with spreading the thunder? Well, When the guests compliment me on my energy / passion which they frequently do (it’s amazing how positive energy and passion can be contagious!) I tell them all about GV and the thundershow and tell them if they are interested in fine beverages OF ANY KIND they really need to check winelibrary tv out!

So that’s how I’m spreading the Thunder. I know it’s not much but that’s the most I can do right now. But. rest assured as more of my friends reach the big 21, they too will come to know the joy of the thundershow, as spreading the thunder is always ongoing and not just for contests!

    Thanks WLTV,
    Daniel C.

Ok, I race motorcycles here in British Columbia, Canada and my local race club is called the Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club, and what I have done on my racebike is first off, to add my vayniac original wrist band to my brake reservoir as a cozy for it. It looks great, Pic to follow in email. Secondly, I had decals made up for an ad spot on the bike that say “tv.winelibrary.com” on one side of the gas tank, and “spread the thunder” on the other side of the tank. These are prime spots on the bike, as in full lean photographers usually capture the gas tanks as the most prominant space for advertising. I also run races in Seattle WA, Portland OR, Calgary AB, and Edmonton AB, so you are getting 2 states and 2 provinces. About 10,000 race fans this 2008 season will see the link to the show. That’s how I spread the thunder.

For me, the attraction of WLTV is the family style and THE PASSION. It sure comes through via GV, but even with the slightly ‘crazy’ episode 4oo – I loved the opening with the Giants Fans – *staff* folks in front of the camera – getting a chance to sip the 1999 DP and bask in their victory. NICE TOUCH. Classy and very Family Style. What have I done to spread the THUNDER? I’ve told my OWN family – my two brothers, my best friends, my father in law, my wine drinking buddy who opened my eyes to the old world wines some 20 yr ago now. Did I post to 45K friends on my space -no – not my style. Paint myself purple and get on TV – not quite – But – do I feel like I’m part of the WLTV family? YES. Have I recommend WLTV to my family and friends? Put my own rep on the line? Yep. Absolutely. WLTV and GV are indeed THAT important. Best wishes GV and ALL of the folks at WLTV for ANOTHER 400! Thunder on!

Here is what I have done to spread the thunder as a CKC. (I know how you love the CKC’s!) I have been a DJ at my college radio station KTXT for 2 years. It broadcasts from Lubbock, TX on the frequency of 88.1 and is the highest ranked college radio station in the state, and I believe we have been in the top 10 in the country. We also have a live feed on the internet, allowing people all over the world to hear. This weekend I made a huge announcement announcing the THUNDER SHOW, GARY V., tv.winelibrary.com, and that everyone should CHECK IT OUT. Thank you GV for 400 hundred shows, keep up the great work.

Have I spread the thunder ?
Oh yes. Promoting it at a huge tasting with the editor and the senior editor of the Gambero Rosso and the top 50 wine peeps in Sweden. Writing it on the message board for my class and everyone else studying the sommelier course. So you have a whole lot of young sommeliers from Sweden dedicated to the Thundershow.
And of course I have the food and drink review mail out coming out soon + the discussion group on Face Book where i also have mailed all of my friends.

    Stay Tru !

How am I bringing the thunder? I have a personal vendetta against yellow tail drinkers… no joke. Whenever I’m about to go to a gathering/party or liquor/wine store, I write up a post-it note with the inscription “Yellow Tail is for wine n00bs. You = Fail. go to winelibrarytv.com to see why”. I bring that note with me and place it on the first bottle of yellow tail I see. At parties or gatherings, I’ll secretly slip a post-it on the bottle of yellow tail. I’ve done it at complete strangers houses. I even make a point to leave this note on a yellow tail bottle each time I go to a liquor/wine store. Everywhere I see this damn wine I make sure to leave my mark. The reactions are priceless. And, I guarantee you they’ve checked out the show. I’m like a yellow tail post-it note assassin.

I’m a recent college grad and everyone I know would always drink Yellow Tail if they were going to drink wine. So, needless to say I’ve gone through a lot of post-it notes. I, along with many friends, used to think Yellow Tail was DA BOMB. (Key words: *used to*). I’ve realized that a lot of younger people start to get into wine with yellow tail just because its cheap and easy. After discovering the light or should I say DA THUNDER, I realized there was so much more to the world of wine and began my monty python and the holy grail quest.

I’ve done the whole facebook/email/show friends the videos thing and everyone’s hooked and that’s all good. But, that’s just typical… not really unique. So, instead, I have a personal vendetta against yellow tail drinkers. I’m always looking for ways to make it rain and bring the thunder to wine n00bs. College grads are all about bang for the buck and think that yellow tail is the end-all-be-all of wine. Yellow Tail brings them into the wine world, but winelibrarytv brings the wine fanatic out of them. This show has taught me how to train my palate and opened my eyes to many other great ‘cheap’ alternatives to yellow tail. The thunder show easily helps me get people off their damn trendy yellow tail kick. BOOM

For starters, I’m running around Seattle wine shops trying to find wine featured on WLTV (we cannot get shipping), the whole time telling the proprietors that I saw it featured on The Thunder Show. If they don’t have it, then I’m rattling off GV tasting notes to them, to try and get something similar. Next, I’ve been catching a little WLTV during work hours, and sending emails to co-workers that they must view the DeLille Doyenne Syrah, Smells Like Poop (Not manure, our, human, poop) Episode. Next, posting a blog entry on Grower Champagne, referencing WLTV related episodes, and having Natalie MacLean, give me props on the info in the post. Also, giving huge pitches imploring my wine crew to join me at the Washington Wine Library TV (Taste Washington) Seminar. Lastly, I’m always hosting tastings of stuff GV has turned me onto (Bandol, Cahors, Grower Champagne) and letting the guests know who the man is (Chris Mott, just kidding).

although not as impressive as being Kahuna (what is??), I did create the 365 episodes of wltv in 3.5 minutes. This was put on youtube and got some views :)

I have told my family and friends and co-workers

I converted my girlfriend to a vayniac. She loves the show, of course, and has told all her friends

I have a link to the show on my blog at tlod.blogspot.com and will post a review, video or written on the main page.

Here is how I plan to Spread the Thunder….

On April 23-27th the Beaufort Wine & Food Festival will be held in Beaufort NC. It is an amazing festival with Wines from around world being poured and local restaurants serving food. Last year it was Amazing…. with hundreds of wine lovers attending. I plan to Spread the THUNDER…. by wearing my “Wine Lib TV wristband” to the festival… so other Wine Lovers will see it and ask about it :) Then I can tell them about Wine Library and GV..

Congrats… on #400….. Love the show… and also learn a lot. I have expanded the wines I drink and I am working on expanding my Husbands wine appreciation, by watching the show. Thanks So Much …

My wife and I are HUGE fans!!!! Trish has linked you up on her myspace and we have told EVERYONE we know about you, warning them that you’re a nut of course..and have had friends over for the Christmas pack tasting and plan on bringing friends with us for the March 29th event at the library. You have made a ‘white zin only’ girl expand her wine loving. Keep up the great work, and YES, tasting wine IS work so we very happy you are still fitting the thunder show into your busy schedule, it’s the way we both relax every night after work, sit down with a great glass of wine and check out what crazy Gary is tasting on the show! You have lots of Connecticut fans now…how about tasting some CT wines????

    Tom G. of the CKC

I’ve worked hard to spread the thunder via word of mouth. Examples:

At a recent, 30-employee lunch (comprised of mostly “stuffy” Business School professors and financial analysts) at a local steakhouse I was asked to pick wines for the table since people call me lovingly “the wine snob” here at the office. The list had a wine that was recently reviewed by one Mr. Gary V. (2003 Silver Oak Cab Alexander Valley) and someone said that it was a great wine and that we should go with it, while I told them I felt that the 2004 Sequoia Grove was a better wine for a lot less money. A long story short, the conversation at the table ended with me telling everyone about Gary V. and Wine Library TV. About 5 of the 30 people were sincerely interested and told me they watched the Conan clip later that day. They are now hooked and one has even posted comments!

My girlfriend’s mother once asked me “Tom, how do you know if a wine is good or not? I just buy whatever the store clerk recommends.” Answer? WLTV. She now watches at least a few times a week. I’ve worked hard to get her father to watch, but he’s a dyed-in-the-wool “I only drink Insignia/Dal Forno/Petrus” type and has resisted me all of the way. He even knows Gary on a first name basis apparently, adding to my frustration. How can you know Gary personally and not watch his show?? Insanity! But one out of isn’t bad!

I shot an email to a 500-person mailing list (mostly wine drinkers in the Philly Metro area from Meetup.com) telling the members how the show brings a new twist to the wine world. The reaction was mixed, with some people still holding the antiquated “wine is for the rich and should be revered as such” viewpoint…retarded. But I got more than 40 emails saying that the show was informative and that they are watching regularly now.

My personal favorite: I work part-time at a Delaware wine shop and I often will recommend wines that I love that I first found through Gary’s recommendation (the 2004 Hecula now sells out regularly whereas before I saw Gary recommend it in Ep # 286…where I think his 88 pts is a bit too low). I have no issues telling customers about winelibrary.com and especially WLTV. I know for sure that I have customers that watch because I will notice a wine was recommended by Gary and then customers will come in asking if we carry it. I, of course, ask if they saw it on WLTV and the answer is always yes.

Have a link on MySpace under ‘Mott Link It Up’ – can’t wait for the shirt :) ! Have laughed with everyone I know as I show the CLASSIC Gary V and Conan O’Brian piece to all! Purchased decanters for all my wine friends at Christmas and then told them why and about WLTV. Have e-mailed everyone I know your link – and again if it’s a wine I know they like. Shared the Christmas Pack with family and had a tasting with you as our host on Christmas Eve – loved that! Just wanted to let you know that we look forward to watching and learning and so glad that you are not leaving the Thunder Show.

I “Spread the THUNDER” on a daily basis to all(or most) of my chiropractic patients. During the fall my friends and family attend ALL Penn State home football games. Our tailgates consist of two Beaver Stadium-side parking spots at which we ROCK at least 1 to 2 hundred Happy Valley fans each week. This is my avenue to spread the GV word to many inebriated beer/vodka/wine loving people. My plan for next season is a huge flat screen which will play loops of WLTV for the entire pre-game show!! Hope to have at least one tailgait consisting of nothing but great food and wine. This may not come to fruition as my best buddy Ellery is 6′6″ 450 lbs. and loves his beer and Jim Beam. But we’ll see. So GV you are cordually invited to attend a real footbal game (of your choice) at PSU and be my special guest. You CAN wear your green as well(as long as it’s not the Michigan St. game)

As a new viewer of Wine Library TV, brought to the show by Beppi Crosariol’s article in the Globe and Mail http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/foodandwine/ I have been spreading the Thunder, using shared football fanaticism as the Gateway to greater wine knowledge.

Gary, my friends and I are making you a VERY SPECIAL OFFER: We formally request that you become a sponsor of the EZ RYDER CUP!

Twice a year we gather to play our version of the Ryder Cup, called THE EZ RYDER CUP (See http://ezrydercup.blogspot.com/ – where have now LINKED YOU UP).

Blue collar vs white collar (Suits vs Dungarees http://ezrydercup.blogspot.com/2007/09/its-tie.html)

    and our favourite:

(This might be posted twice, but I don’t see my first attmempt here)

I try to spread the thunder in three modest but distinct ways:

    1. Posting about the show and the wines available in Sweden that it inspired me to try so far on my Swedish food blog: http://www.spishang.se/2008/01/den-godaste-fin.html

    2. Brought the xmas pack over to Sweden and made a few friends part of the tasting.

I have been referring all of my friends that are interested in Wine to WLTV. I have been having “Thunder Nights” A night in which my roommate and I sit down and re-watch the weeks episodes on our TV.

Also, my roommate and I have been putting post-its advertising both the 400th episode as well as Wine Library TV in general all over our building, and more importantly all over every CTA train that we get on.

I have set up WLTV on my parent’s computer at home and they watch the Thunder Show.

If I can find a sheet, a BIG WLTV banner will be going up in the window of my apartment.

Long Live Wine Library TV and Vayniacs everywhere!

I also love to walk around town in my WLTV t-shirt and wristband just to see how many people stop me to ask about it. I’m sure I’ve turned on several folks to the show just by doing this.

I’ve even managed to convert my non-tech savy parents into WLTV fans!

Spreading the thunder in little ways every day.

I hsve learned so much from watching the show and learned how FUN wine can be. I tell everybody I know to check it out, I’ve emailed your link to all of my family, friends and co-workers. I attend wine tastings now with friends every weekend and your show always comes up in conversation. I’ve made the Thunder show a fun part of my day and I encourage others to do the same.

    Spread the Thunder…..

What’s all the fuss about? I am in charge of the Fedex Alcohol Shipping program. I have about 500+ “Winers” on my internal distribution list. I keep everyone interested in wine (and wine shipping) informed of current industry news. I already sent out an email to my Winers about 5-6 months ago telling about WLTV and Gary’s daily message. OK, I’ll do it again because you, Gary, and a lot of me, have opened up my range of wine possibilities. I just bought from WineLib a range of 05 bordeaux’for a blind tasting at my house. I couldn’t even spell the word bordeaux 3 months ago. Christmas pak, a great idea. B

I work for a fellow that owns two wines stores. I often let people know about WLTV. I have sent e-mail messages of my favorite shows to lots of friends.

I am in VAIL, Colorado right now and there is a Fat Tuesday parade today. I’ll make a sign and hold it up for everyone to see.

I am also thrilled that the Giants won – yee hah!!!!!!

I’ve even done my modest part – added a quickie WLTV is awesome blog post to my myspace page (myspace.com/estanoche) , added WLTV as an awesome link on my homepage, and I even submitted a review on iTunes – review #100 baby!! Rock on!

I’ve tumblelogged you, I’ve iTunes reviewed you (as likeaduck), and I wrote on your facebook wall, which is a subtle way to get you onto everybody’s radar via the newsfeed. Awesome show, and I’m glad to spread it around.

Spreading the love is easy if you truly love this show. In my wine shop many people everyday ask me where I go on the internet and what books I read to keep my wine knowledge up. EASY!! I point them right to here and if they have itunes I tell them to subscribe. Every week I have a weekly wine tasting where I tell everyone about the latest episodes and chat with my customers about the episodes. I myself will be LINKING IT UP on my weekly emails as well to spread the thunder across Colorado as well. I will make sure you get one as well. Thanks GV and even without the contest, plan on me spreading the love regardless.

Regarding Spreading the Thunder: Besides consistently talking about the show with friends/family/co-workers and wearing the T-shirts everywhere… I have been (and will continue to) promote the Thunder Show to Mike & Mike on ESPN Radio (The Nation’s most popular sports talk radio show). I pretty much send them an e-mail for every-other episode, requesting they bring Gary V to the show. I will get Wine Library TV on ESPN Radio some day!

Thanks for your hard work Gary, Mott & Crew!

Spreading the Thunder is an awesome idea, if not a way of life. Gary gave us 400 episodes, and I would love to see 400 more. I want to email all my friends back home who love wine, and convince one of them to get a WLTV Tattoo.

Well, I wrote a column about you in our city’s local broadsheet daily (circulation 125,000ish) in March of ‘07:

http://tinyurl.com/2qx22b (not sure how to “link it up”)

I also maintain a blog in conjunction with the column and mentioned your 400th in today’s entry (see website link).

And of course I spread the thunder via word of mouth as often as possible.

    Gary,

Although I spread the word about you all the TIME, I did something very special so I can wine this contest! I wrote a song! A jingle of sorts. You can hear it here:

    http://www.saraleib.com/AUDIO/tv.winelibrary.mp3

or the shortened jingle version here:

    http://www.saraleib.com/AUDIO/wltvjingle.mp3

and I’ve just put it up on my myspace page, linked here:

    http://www.myspace.com/saraleib

I think you’ll LOVE ‘em! Oh, and I put a link up my website, too!
    http://www.saraleib.com

Come on Gar, this contest’s for me!

    Love, your fan, sara

I have your “Ask Gary” apps on my facebook and myspace pages. I have your “spread the thunder” app on facebook. I Digg your episodes. However, the best word is the word of mouth. I tell everyone who will listen how much I enjoy your show …and I give them the url. I watched the Thanksgiving wine tasting show with my family from which at least three new followers were born.
Gary, you are to wine what John Lennon was to rock and roll. I’m more than happy to spread the wine love for you and I do, everyday!

Well, I have already told everyone I know about WLTV. I bring it up at every occasion when wine is being discussed. I have convinced more young people working in wine shops into watching WLTV than I can count. For my retirement job I work in a law school were I have contact with hundreds of students, many of them come to me for wine advice. I, of course, give great advice, the best of which is watch WLTV.
For this thunder contest I will be putting up a poster in the Minneapolis skyway, which runs through our campus, directing people to WLTV. That’s some fair exposure.

put “ask G” on my myspace… Stand on the corner with my sandwich board directing people to winelibrary….and good old fashion calling up radio talk shows, start feeding them a load of bs on whatever it is they are talking about and slip in a “watch gary VAY-NUR-CHuk on winelibray tv” before they get the chance to hit the dump switch… oh, and probably THE hardest thing of all… gave my sister my 2nd edition wristband, just so she would become a vayniac, sure do miss that wristband :(

  112. February 5, 2008

    Robert F

Besides the obvious word-of-mouth advertising for WLTV, I just printed out one of the WLTV badges and made it into a bumper sticker and put it on my car. Now everyone on the road will hear about WLTV! I also wear my wristbands out and about.

  113. February 5, 2008

I am indeed a Vayniac. I’m hooked on watching the show and learning about wines. I’ve told everyone I know about WLTV. We talk about wines all the time now. When I bring wine to a party, its something that GV has recommended. I’ve purchased wines from WL to stash away (and a few to pop and pour!) and will look wise and informed when I uncork them in a few years. Thanks for your show and bringing the thunder every day!
BTW, I win on the 19th whatever happens. It’s my dad’s 78th birthday! Happy Birthday, Dad!

I actively search for something in each episode for everybody I know. The vegetarian episode was fantastic, I got more referrals out on that day than any other thanks to so many of my friends either being vegetarian or digging the humus and falafel. The craft beer and vodka episodes spread well to the “wine is for sissies” guys. I have a firm belief that it just takes one episode for you to get them addicted to your personality, so in the dozens of referrals each person receives, I’m sure a good deal of them have started watching.

Just last weekend we had a few bottles of wine at a party and when I started to pull flavors, a handful of people tasted what I did and essentially complimented my palate. I grabbed the closest laptop and loaded up WLTV and said that this was the guy to see about learning wine, played 15 seconds at a time from a few episodes and each of the people asked to be e-mailed the link. I can only assume they’re watching now.

To me, that’s the best way to spread the thunder. Having badged you up, added the Facebook apps, friended you up where I could, and alienated friends via mass-mails, I feel the word of mouth has done the best job of spreading the thunder. (Does having e-mailed Alex Albrecht asking him to quit giving Kevin so much crap when he talks wine on Diggnation count for anything?)

So I work at a college and every time a student or colleague asks me how I learned about wine I send them to the Thunder Show. Also, I spend a lot of time tasting in Sonoma and other No Cal wine areas (almost every weekend), so I am thinking I am going to make a thunder show flier (please don’t sue me) and ask if I can leave them!

Ok…WHY DIDN’T you tell us about this contest last week!!! I’m in Arizona and we just had the Super Bowl here. ESPN did their broadcast less than a mile from my house. I would have been in the background with a sign or something and gotten you on national TV. I also had tickets to the game, I might have even taken a chance to get arrested and run on the field with your web address on me, just to get a chance to meet you and get to NY. But, oh well…what could have been.

As most everyone on here, I tell everyone I know about you. But additionally, since I am in the wine business, I refer all my customers (wine stores, restaurants, retailers) to you and many of them have begun to spread the word to their customers. I would estimate about 2,000 people penetration in the past 6 months. Additionally I have a mailing list of about 4,500 people that are former customers of my restaurant that I just sent them a link to your site and gave them a little bio and story about why they should see your show. I also will be putting your link on my site this week (waiting on my webmaster) and that site gets about 200 visits a day. Your also my first friend on myspace page (myspace.com/wino2007).

I will say that I might be the most active “big mouth” you have and I use your site for educational purposes, and tell others to watch for educational purposes as well. So if I had to take a head count, I would bet that you get about 1,000 new viewers from me every month, and if I’m off by 3 or 4, MY BAD! lol.

Gary, pick me and you’ll have a funny ass show. GUARANTEED!

    Thanks,

    Phil G.

    Thunderspreading:

A )Web 2.0 – my blog: pforty.blogspot.com also facebook messages to all my freinds (coming late this week!)

    B) Web 1.0 – email to my entire address book!

    C) Good ol’ stumping: As my dad would say, flesh pressing. Ye ol’ word o’ mouth. I’ve done this since I began watch and will continue in fact, I will be hosting a wine tasting surrounding some wines I learned about on WLTV and we will be watching the show as well as the palate education episode!

Pick me, you won’t go wrong, I work on the stage!!!

I dont know what to say. I used to manage a bar in a college town and would frequently have the show on on all the TVs in the bar so that everyone could watch as well. Word of mouth is my biggest contribution to spreading the thunder….everyone who possibly knows me knows I love wine…and if they know that much about me, they know about WLTV. I also wear WLTV tshirts given to me by a friend of mine….and now the wristband travels everywhere on me as well. This is all stuff Ive done prior to the contest and will continue to do so long after the contest is over.
Since the contest started, I wanted to do one extra thing……and since I dont have web blog or anything like that and I had to reach out to people I dont know, I put a scrolling screensaver that read “http://tv.winelibrary.com Can You Handle the Thunder?” on the main server in the computer lab at my college (lets just say I know a guy who knows a guy). It is now displayed on every idle computer in the three computer labs at my college. (I figured I’d reach out to as many CKCs as possible)

I added feedburner to my MYYAHOO and I started the website http://www.spreadthethunder.com. Currently that site redirects to WLTV but that will some turn into it’s own site encouraging Vayniacs to spread the thunder and another place to review wines as a community.

    Congrats on #400!!!

Got a nice badge posted on my Myspace page, as well as a micro-blog entry there pointing people interested in wine in Wine Library’s direction.

A pretty cool moment was at the Super Tasting in 2007 when Gary thanked me for supporting the show by wearing my Official Vayniac wristband there. Gary V is a true Gentleman!!

People find out that I’m into wine and ask about it, and I (usually) launch into a speech about how I got into wine and found WLTV to help me broaden my wine horizons. Got people who originally referred to Gary V. as “that crazy wine guy” to call me up and ask if I saw the last WLTV episode.

My friends (who got me into wine) on the Fire Dept. and I get together with some awesome food (yes we all cook) and lots-o-vino. We have started to purchase wines (many times from road trips to some “little” place in Springfield, NJ) that we’ve seen on WLTV and then at our tastings, hook a laptop up to the plasma and taste along. Our wine group continues to grow.

One of my friends, regretfully still a semi-lurker, who I told about the Vayniac Cab project, went and ordered like 5 cases…now he’s hooked.

Well, that’s all I can think of….good luck to everyone!!!

At the local (way over-priced) wine bar, where some friends and I meet up…Usually for one over-priced bottle then back to my place for some affordable bottles from wine library…While I am at the wine bar, where I pay for ambiance and environment, I constantly let people know that WL has the best prices even after shipping…And if they want some suggestions on wine tasting checkout WLTV…I have written on the back of a bunch of my business cards the URL for the site…Hopefully I’ve brought a few Vayniacs to the WLTV

I chat-up wine all day to the doctors and administrators around the hospital I work in – guys who can really bring the thunder to winelibrary.com with their pocketbooks. AND, I tell them they HAVE to watch the Thunder show – then the next time I chat up wine with them, I refer back to recent Thunder show episodes to make sure they are watching! Keep them coming GV!!!

-sign, back of my car, “THUNDER SHOW- http://tv.winelibrary.com/

-if i feel its needed i might even go on my campus of k-state and set up the old soap box and preach the “gospel” of da’ wine librazy’.

-within and/or after every thing i say i am/will blurt out winelibrary.com, and not think anything of it. ex. “if i take a right after the farmhouse will i winelibrary.com make it back to my humble abode?”

-make hundreds of little cards that said “tv.winelibrary.com” and i kinda just place them everywhere i go….store counters, waffle houses, ramen noodle shelf at the grocery for those ckc’s like myself, and ill defiantly say i place them etc. oh dear i place them etc.

and please don’t insult me with petty amounts of raffle slips in my name, im doing this for the wino nation, eh or you can cap me off at like 30 to be fair.

Gary, as you might remember, I work for a commercial production company in Los Angeles. Every Advertising agency I work with I always mention you and your show and tell them to do a commercial for you and to watch the show (of course). Now just think about how many people they can reach and how many people with public access and influence I am in contact with? That’s spreading a lot of thunder! As you said about “Sideways”, if Hollywood says it’s cool then everyone follows, so once Hollywood says YOU are cool, sky is the limit baby!

  137. February 5, 2008

    danseng

I work at a country club and we get a lot of distributors that visit us to taste new wines to add to our list. They usually start off with, “This got 92 points from Robert Parker or Wine Spectator” to try to sell us something. The first time I meet each distributor I ask, “What did Gary Vaynerchuk score it?”. This may be a blow to your ego, but not one of them has heard of you. I tell them what you do and how great the Thunder Show is. Most of them usually say that you can’t be impartial if you are selling the wine. I tell them to watch episode 363 where you go shopping like a normal customer and don’t like any of the wines you pick out. The ones that have watched it are quite impressed. Keep up the good work.

    - I’ll add a video to my blog about my admiration of Gary and WLTV, and also post it to my Myspace page. That will be my pleasure to do that! Who knows what it will look like – could be extremely silly.
    - I’ll add a WLTV badge to my myspace page.
    - I’ll mention WLTV to all the employees at all the local liquor stores, who know me by sight now anyway.
Ummmm… I’ll just spread general thought energy in the spirit-o-sphere.

once I complete my superlaser, I plan to etch a WLTV logo or a caricature of gary’s face onto the surface of the moon. I also am considering attaching a blimp dock to the Empire State Building so I can start shuttling Manhattanites to the store in the “Wine Library Airship,” which will have a jumbotron on the side running loops of the day’s ep.

That’s the plan for the future…So far I have told all my family, vendors, partners and clients about the show whenever they ask me how I got so into wine.

    Gary-

    Bringing the thunder thusly:
    a) You’re on my facebook page, seriously I signed up for facebook because you mentioned it and I think it’s really cool now, I”m getting all my friends on there and spreading the thunder to them! Spreading the thunder.
    b) I mention your name to all the local winemakers, I recently said “sniffy-sniff” at a wine tasting and the winemaker said “Somebody watches Gary” which lead to a long conversation about WLTV with all the others at the tasting. Spreading the THUNDER!
    c) I’m going to scan for wines at my local wine shop that you have tasted (and liked) and print a shelf talker for them and bring it down to them have them post it. I’ll send a picture afterwards. SPREADING THE THUNDER!!!!!

  142. February 5, 2008

    Graziella

Even though this is a CRAZY, HUGE week for me with the premiere of my musical, I am finding time to Spread the Thunder–> Here’s my current plan, which I may stray from a bit since I can become wildly creative on spur of the moment:

1)I have posted your face (yes Gary, your face) and site link on the homepage of my website in addition to my favorite links page. http://www.graziella.us
You are also on the Miss New Jersey US site: http://www.missnewjerseyus.com

    2) I wrote up a little review in my myspace blog (currently working on the facebook thing since I joined not too long ago)

    3) I, along with my professional videographer, are creating a COMMERCIAL for WineLibraryTV.com to air at the premiere of my musical in Englewood, NJ @ 201 Supper Club This Friday Feb. 8 and on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14. It’s a dinner- theater event where before the show, during intermission, and after the show your commercial will be playing on the TV screens for all to see. http://www.puttinontheg.com

I’ll post again with my progress ;)

  143. February 5, 2008

    1 ) My blog: winenewb.blogspot.com

    2) email to my entire address book!

    3) Chalk drawings on buildings around town

    Gary,

I am spreading the Thunder Baby!!!! Being an Air Force Aviator I am blessed to travel the world with my amazing crews. As my way of celebrating each and every sortie, I like to bring home a bottle of something special and I try to learn about the wine I bring home.

For my Spread the Thunder project, I’ve been passing out notecards to Soldiers, Sailors, and Airman all over the Middle East with “Spread the Thunder” on the front of the card and your Podcast Website on the back with the phrase “Celebrate Freedom.” I am extremely impressed with your excitement for wine and your willingness to educate the masses. We are all better because of you man!

SPREAD THE THUNDER!!!! I plan on educating the entire Department of Defense wherever my travels take me!

  145. February 5, 2008

    BargePlus

What to do? What to do? I don’t have a blog, and I don’t have a video camera (to create a clip for posting to YouTube), so in addition to past activities, what am I going to do to further spread the Thunder?

And then it dawned on me, I could post an advertisement on craigslist, extolling the virtues of Wine Library TV in an attempt to attract “buyers” throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. First I had to decide how I would exactly classify this ad:

Discussion Forums: Wine – too obvious
Personals: Rants & Raves – maybe only the first 10-20 seconds of each show
Services: Erotic – This classification got some serious consideration, but San Francisco erotic may not be to the taste of the rest of the world

And so, I finally posted my “ad” under “Services: Event” as I believe Gary does definitly provide a real service to the Wine World, and his show is not only an event worth watching, but one that should not be missed.

    So check it out: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/evs/564316768.html

I chanced upon Gary’s show last fall after posting my video of my most recent barge trip in the Languedoc area of France. As a 4-trip veteran, I wanted to see what other info was out there for this overlooked corner of the world. I chanced upon Gary’s over-the-top enthusiasm for a Sainte Leocadie les Clauses, bought a case, e-mailed the episode to the friends who accompanied my wife & I on our barge trips and haven’t looked back. Then I talked my neighbors into patake of the Christmas pack with me on Christmas Day: sharing wines with friends – one of life’s better experiences. And then when friends of ours from different parts of California decided to meet in Livermore for a picnic, I sent them your epidode on Concannon’s Syrah. Most recently, I sent your episode on Swiss wines to friends of ours in Angers, France: For over 20 years, Robert & Eliane and my wife and I have been discussing (sometimes heatedly) the difference between what the Europeans call a lime tree, which we call a linden tree, and the citrus fruit. Your very nice guest tasted a lime tree component that you did not, but you wouldn’t since you heard lime tree and thought citrus.

And I will continue to hit my friends over the head with just how great this show is; maybe some of them will eventually get it.

You may have to wait a bit for this thunder, but I recently started sharing selected episodes of the Thunder Show with my kids. They’re too young to drink wine, but they are not too young to learn about it. They think you are cool and funny (and I always preview to make sure the clips are age-appropriate). I’m raising the wine drinkers of 2016 and beyond.

Also, I enjoy talking up the show when I walk the neighborhood with my dog. Yes, my methods are very suburban, but I think that personal contact adds a lot of value. I’m not even going to try to compete with Miss New Jersey.

We’ve mentioned WLTV to many of our friends and relatives and will continue to do that. Carl has gotten several coworkers to watch.

I have added a post about watching WLTV to my blog today and posted a badge/link.

I have told my wife and all of my close friends about WLTV. I find myself ’sharing the thunder’ with your contagious enthusiasm for life in general, but I find it coming out in my teaching particularly. Thanks for being excited and being real!

I have done all sorts of things to spread the thunder! I have a wine group biweekly, and we regularly watch at least one of your episodes. I also work at the largest wine store in WA, and mention this show to my customers regularly, spreading the thunder to massive amounts of winos in Seattle! The thunder, it hath been brought.

So I have talked up Wine Library TV to my friends, and since I dont have that many I guess you guys are hurtin for new fans….lol

I have mentioned you to a bunch of folks and my wife makes fun of me in front of friends for watching WLTV…

So nothing compared to sending the link out to 45k people, but I try to bring this bit of fun to my friends as I do truly enjoy watching. It give me something to look forward to, a laugh, learn something and a chance to think of stuff other than work and such….

Thanks to you Gary and crew.

As the Field Training Manager for the Gallo Wine Company here in LA, I tell all my new sales reps their first day of orientation to visit WLTV and spend a little time with Gary Vaynerchuk. Favorite episodes include the joke birthday episode where you got to try a bit of out Turning Leaf Reserve white zin, but the episodes on building your palate and your nightline interview really help introduce them to the world of wine and help them get excited to spread the thunder and expand their wine knowledge. Lovin’ it.

    Gary V –

I started a blog today to journal my endeavors in the wine world. WLTV is the first link at the top of the page. In my first post, I wrote the following:

…I have one man to credit for this and that is Gary Vaynerchuk. Love him or hate him, he has been an inspiration and a teacher for me in my very young wine life…

Hey GV~ Awesome contest, I love it. The main way I spread the Thunder is direct to everyone I can at my own winery tasting room. I tell everyone that comes in to watch WLTV in order to get a better understanding of their own palate while we go through each of our wines. I pull out the catch phrases, sniffy sniff, give it a whirl, but so far no showing from the Oak Monster,Rarrrrr. I try to keep my oak in check. So that’s how I’m spreading the Thunder !! Thanks for EP #400, let’s go for 400 more,Cheers ~ Max

I also want to take a moment, after your 400th episode, to say thank you to all of you who make WLTV possible. I’ve received compliments on wines that I wouldn’t have looked twice at, my decanter, my wine glasses… all of it because of you guys.

    Thanks.

I’ll invite a bunch of friends to bring in a bottle of wine each to make a huge blind tasting. for that tasting I’ll prepare some cool corkd-style taste note sheets… and as an introduction about how much fun wine tasting can be, I’ll present one of the cool episodes of WLTV (maybe the one with the cherry road hit deer) as an introduction.
and of cause, I’ll refer to the thundershow in the e-mail-invitation. I think friends&wine&thunder should be the perfect combination. :-)

    Hey, Gary,

I work at a library, and have really enjoyed telling both staff and patrons about the site whenever I get questions about wine (it happens more often than you’d think, and all wine questions there tend to get referred to me anyways). So, you get a lot of word of mouth exposure in San Antonio, via very official public library channels (I like to think people take us sort of seriously at any rate). I was surprised that my blog didn’t have mention of you just yet since I’ve been a lurker for the last 9 months or so and talk about wine very frequently, so that issue has been remedied, and the entry is here – http://jekka.livejournal.com/ .

Thank you for the expertise and entertainment!

In addition to extensive word of mouth spreading of the thunder where ever I go, I have taken the following extra steps this week:

-I’ve changed my Facebook status to reflect that I am, in fact, spreading the thunder.
-I’ve posted a link to the WLTV website for all of my friends on Facebook (a good chunk of my friends are teetotalers and/or underage, so I made sure to point out that even if you don’t like wine, odds are good that you will still get hooked on the Thunder Show).
-I’ve rearranged my Facebook profile to show just how much of a Vayniac I am.
-I’ve dedicated a blog post to WLTV and how much it means to me at:
    http://www.meldingofheads.blogspot.com
-I sent an email out to my relatives (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) hoping to win them for the Vayner Nation and to enlist their support in spreading the thunder.
-I’ve stepped up my word of mouth advertising. It is amazing how many ways you can work the Thunder Show into everyday conversation. I had an hourlong conversation with my best friend, a teetotaling pastor, tonight about your show and how he needs to take up wine as a hobby.

There’s not any real way of gauging the amount of support for your site these steps I have taken will raise for WLTV, unfortunately. This dawned on me as I spent the better part of my evening working towards this goal, but I continued to press on anyway, because I care about my friends and family enough that I want them to be able to join in the thunder. Plus, as a former iTunes lurker, I feel that I owe it to you to raise as much support as I can for the show. Keep the episodes coming, and I’ll keep the audience stocked with fresh Vayniacs!

Hey Gary……as usual, you are on top of marketing in a way I only dream of! Added a link to Wine Library on the sidebar of my blog

as well as a direct episode link in a blog post saying I like your style (which I do, tremendously). I like the fact that you really do remember that wine expertise isn’t about pretentiousness or just making money, but bringing people together to enjoy the grapes of the vine.

    Hi Gary,
How about this? I’ve made my boyfriend almost jealous because I watch your show every day and I call you my wine-hero?

No, seriously, your show is truly great and inspiring. I’ve been doing wine tours in Tuscany for almost 5 years now and when I discovered your show I started talking about with my guests – some of which knew about the shop and others who already watched your show. So, I’m spreading the thunder word-of-mouth-style.

And, of course, you are in the sidebar of my blog TWICE!

I write from Italy, from the territory of Prosecco (Veneto). Browsing thorough the web I found you, strange fellow, talking of wine. It was a thunder, because in Italy the wine world is just a little more “traditional” compared to the way you usually put things. I think That you are actually changing some things, and i really believe that your way is “the way” for the next generations. Indeed I think that some of your ideas, for instance the one that we are constantly changing our minds and attitudes towards some kind of wine or another, is pivotal for a true understanding of the whole matter.

And now a thing that you don’t realize yet.

Your English spelling is GOOD AND CLEAR, even for an Italian. So it is the great quality of your broadcasting (I raise my hat to your crew, really). So this broadcasting become of great interest not only for wine enthusiasts, but also for English language students. That’s why I consider really good time for all of us to listen from you, and I usually tell everybody in Italy about your website, that is “ Wine lessons, plus English lesson, plus fun” !

Indeed You are changing both the world of wine and the world of Learning English, whatever you want or not! hahaha GIMME 5 !

I am trying to spread the thunder several ways. First, at my weekly wine/dine/movie night, I make everyone watch an episode or two from your show. If you happen to have reviewed one of the wines we are drinking, then we watch that episode. We have also had a palate training dinner that included cigars (sorry, no dirt).

Next, my roommate and I bring up your website whenever we go wine tasting throughout the city. Not only are other wine store customers hearing about you, but their owners as well. Hopefully we can Change the Wine World from the ground up this way.

finally, as my friends turn to me as the “wine guy” for advice, I always quote you and tell them to “trust their own palate” instead of just buying wine someone else recommends or avoiding wines just because someone pans them.

Ways I spread the thunder…let me count the ways…
    1. Word of mouth to anyone who appreciates wine and entertainment
1a. Forwarded out notices of Gary V from Time Mag, when he was on Ellen and Conan..etc.
1b. Many of my friends will say let’s have a “sniffy – sniff” prior to giving it a whirl
    2. X-mas gifts this last year, I bought some WL wines and printed out your GV’s descriptions and taped them to the bottle and also e-mailed them the wine descriptions from WLTV for wine education and appreciation liking back to WLTV
    3. Have sent everyone I know the link when my birthday shout-out was on the Thunder Show and my wrist band picture was on the show at the end of 2007 show.
    4. Share my gained knowledge of wine I have acquired from WLTV and encourage my fellow friends and family members to be more adventurous in wine tasting and exploration.
    5. I joined Face Book just to see the extra info advertised by Gary V and WLTV ….the Gary is sorry episode chain was great….and I’m an official Fan of WLTV on Face Book
    6. I started a monthly family / friends themed wine drinking event, where we choose a theme and rotate who hosts the party and we have fun together while we taste wine and bring in food. WLTV is a normal subject of conversation.

Bottom line the WLTV experience is too good not to recommend to others – regardless of schwag offered

  182. February 6, 2008

    SaraMHCRU

I give friends links to episodes that are particularly interesting and informative. Word of mouth too. Friends have also asked me what wines are good, and my reply is always the WLTV mantra: try new things and trust your own palate. in addition, whenever we entertain, I have started supplying wine as the primary beverage, rather than liquor or beer, in order to get my friends more interested in what’s out there in the wine world. Getting them to notice the joys of different kinds of wine opens the door for me to spread the thunder.

p.s. i’d totally put a wltv bumper sticker on my car if you made one.

    Gary,

I find myself in a quandary, perhaps even a bind. I want to spread the thunder. The logical place to do this (think ongoing presidential primaries) would be in the younger generations therefore ensuring a committed future following for wltv. However I fear the laws of modern society will prevent me from encouraging my daughters play school friends (budding vayniacs) from sniffing, let alone whirling and it seems that wltv is beyond their reach. Essential education lost for this unlucky generation. I suggest you send me a wrist band and I will ensure she wears it every day to the play school thus imprinting the wltv logo on these young impressionable minds. I will also teach her a little poem or rhyme which she will repeat about a thousand times a day (as she tends to do with all stories). subtly brainwashing her class mates. The rhyme will spread by word of mouth to all children before long, an invaluable marketing ploy. Having been thwarted in my efforts to thunderise the youth market. I turned to the generations above me. As it turned out I had an opening into a large group (think of a barking chorus from 101 dalmatians) of influential senior citizens (my grandfather fell ill and needed care). Since your announcement, me being a dutiful grandson who visits his ailing relatives often, I have been poling the octogenarians on their opinions of wine and extolling the virtues of wltv. I have had mixed success to be honest. The oldies seem set in their ways, reluctant to swap their blazers and dare I say it dressing gowns for vayniac t-shirts. However, one ashen fellow with liver cancer did tell me that he used to drink his methylated spirits from cheap and expensive wine bottles, a decanting of sorts, so that’s something. I’m pretty sure he never sniffy sniffed but I bet he whirled a lot.

PS: there is a lot about balance on wltv, you should consider my headband idea to balance yourself fashionistically. A wristband on each arm and a headband would be the way forward. I accept you might not adopt the whole john mcenroe thing but balance as you well know is key.

hurry up with that wrist band now and I’ll compose the poem.

I have spread the thunder all the way to Antigua our little island in the Caribbean. After many a research online (I work with a fine work import company here called Best Cellars Wines & Spirits) LOVED your matter of fact to the point style, got my whole team including my manager watching your show.

I also featured you in our monthly newsletter in a comparison of today’s wine critics to contrast in the previous month’s feature of a Mr. Robert Parker. PLUS the newsletter was on our website with that feature shown on the homepage the whole month. Our newsletter is sent to all restaurants, hotels as well as our wine club members.

Have also been spreading word amongst reps and winemakers who visit us and gotten great response.

I have put watching WLTV in my activities section of facebook.com
I also was spreading the thunder before I came out here in May of last year. I do plan on doing a video but, due to current circumstances I have been doing my best.

Spreading the Thunder. I have been and advocate of WLTV and have passed on to my family, friends and co-workers. I am part of dinner club group. We get togther every month or so. All are wine lovers and I have turned them all on to WLTV. Heck, I have even told my local wine merchants to look you up. Not sure if they like the competition as I have started buy direct from WL. Too bad for them. Competition is good for the consumer, right? Thanks G-man for all you and your team are doing.

I travel a lot and go to tasting rooms. Always wear my WLTV wristbands and get questions from the pourers and other tasters. If I have web access I show them WLTV. I also have attended 6 national wine tasting festivals and have gotten questions on wristbands or WLTV t-shirts that I usually wear. Some have heard of WLTV and many not.

Okay, how I’m spreading the thunder. Here are some of my steps:

    1. Already told everyone I work with and my close friends. About 25 at work, about 15 close friends.

    2. I’ve started my own wineblog http://winelegends.blogspot.com/. This includes a link to the tv.winelibrary.com. There will be many more entries here.

    3. I’ve created a homemade sign for the back of my Ford Explorer and my Honda. ( to my wife’chagrin) This is displayed for fellow commuters everyday to see all 45 miles of my commute each way on route 80 and 280.

    4. I sent out an email blast to all 500 individuals in my email address book with the link to wine library. Alot of politicos are now getting wine emails, won’t they be happy.

5 I will be placing a post with a link to winelibrary.com on posting board of every town located on nj.com. I will start this project tonight. 300 plus of theses.

More to come, I’m still thinking. Of course the speading will continue well beyond the contest. I ways spread the Thunder.

I have the WineLibTV link on myspace.
Obviously I speak of the show often to everyone…
I made little cut-outs with the website, that I include on every bottle I give as a gift…
AND…I work for a major Hospital in NY, and have submitted a bid to name our volleyball team The Vayniacs…will put the website on tshirt as well..and hear the name should get the green light!

What else can I do Gary?
    Nude Carwash?
Paint your logo on my house?
    Tattoo logo to butt?
Spraypaint every highway I travel on “Vayniacs Live!…www.winelibrarytv.com”?

    Spreading The Thunder:
I live in Long Beach, CA. There is a radio morning show (103.1FM, Indie) that does “Wino Wednesday.” They bring in wine industry folks to taste wines on Wednesday mornings. The show is hosted by Joe Escalante (member of The Vandals, punk rock band out of HB, Ca.) I sent an email to him, told him about GV and WLTV, and that I thought he should invite GV on the show. Just got an email back from Joe:

“No (haven’t heard of WLTV) but I love it. we’ll go after him.”

So, if 103.1 comes calling . . . . my one little email did the trick. Gotta get WLTV some LA exposure!

And Gary — if you need a place to stay, I’ll put you and your family up in my house a few blocks from the beach. Do a little bbq, etc. hey man, its all about family and friends.
    Peace,

I download and save the show in quicktime format, and translate it on real time in a daily basis for portuguese to my friends (As if they were in a live-show on TV).

I get them together in an small meeting room here at the office and we watch it together.

As we live in Brazil we can’t order wines from America (legal issues again), but we can learn and spread the thunder overseas as well.

I love spreading the thunder. I did not need a contest to spread the thunder; but since there is one………….

    1) I bought the Christmas pack and viewed with my wife and a few friends of ours. I know for sure one of our friends is now an official Vayniak.

    2) I am having a blind tasting on Sat. and will have WLTV playing continuously on the HDTV, with lots of plugs throughout the evening.

    3) will send email to address book highly suggesting checking out WLTV.

Thanks for all the fun Gary. Glad you did not stop at 400.

I’m a CKC who was born to bring the thunder! By word of mouth I have gotten my entire family watching your show EVERYDAY, (they may be lurkers currently, but that WILL be changing), my facebook page is covered in how much I love ya, and the biggest and most important way of bringing the thunder…..drinking wines, not beer, with all of my friends and family for E-V-E-R-Y LAST Steelers (I say “stillers”) game this season. I run into Jeff Reed at a local bar quite often, I mentioned you (because I saw him sippy-sipping on a glass) and he said he saw you on Conan!!!

  204. February 6, 2008

    Achilles Mike

I plan to continue to email people with clips from the show and discuss WL with friends.

My daugther’s fiance is the manager of a major wine and beer supply store in Riverside CA, called Beer, Beer and More Beer. I plan to be there on Saturday with a poster, my laptop and monitor and some handouts about the Thunder Show! People will be able to see a live clip and sample the wine reviewed- the Vina Chocalan Gran Reserva 2004 Hope this helps- they do an enormous business, serving most of SO Calif. This will bring EXPLOSIVE thunder!!!

I teach high School Chemistry and have may colleagues interested in wine. We are planning a tasting soon and I will bring my trusty laptop to view the show on the Portuguese Douro- the Carm 05. This brings the Thunder to us because most of my friends have never heard of the Douro! It’s what the Thunder Show is all about- sharing with friends and expanding our horizons in wine.

Hey the prizes are secondary, Gary. Its sharing and learning, and taking time to enjoy your friends and loved ones that really counts. You bring the thunder into our lives. a big big thank you for just being you! GO Chargers!

I’ve been spreading the thunder a couple of ways:

1.) I’ve been changing the homepage on all the computers I’ve been coming in contact with (school, friends, computer store) to WineLibrary.tv.

2.) On the World of Warcraft, I’ve been spamming the trade channel with “Watch THE THUNDERSHOW – Winelibrary.tv!”

3.) I’ve been FORCING everybody i know (friends, family, coworkers, etc) to watch at least one episode with me.

    Much love from Detroit!

I’ve been spreading the thunder to my friends for months now! I also gave a shout out on my video blog some time ago — though admittedly that was during the previous contest… Still, wasn’t asked to give the shoutout as part of that one!

Anyway, I’ll come up with something awesome. I’ll definitely do a blog post, hit my email lists (a couple thousand people strong), etc.

  207. February 6, 2008

    Rachel

I was only introduced to wine library tv very recently, but haven’t missed an episode yet. I am on fire with the thunder and have spread it!

    1) Talked with all my vino appreciating friends
    2) I travel globally and will spread the thunder where ever I am

  208. February 6, 2008

    Turd

I sent mass emails out with the links and info, one to my personal list of about 100 people and one to the company list of thousands of people which I’ll probably get in trouble for but at least I got the word out!

  209. February 6, 2008

    WineMad

I made a wine reviews aggregator web site, winemad.net – think popurls for wine – and winelibrarytv.com is one of the feeds that appears faithfully just after appearing on your site. I also link to you site from the winemad blog and I’ve emailed links to winelibrarytv.com to all my contacts.

Keep the great shows coming, Gary!

  210. February 6, 2008

    Harley Stan

I have hosted several wine parties now and have forced everyone to watch the Conan and Ellen shows that are still on my DVR. Now when I break out a bottle they ask ” did you get this wine from that wine guy on the internet”. I suspect I have created a couple of lurkers but they are not telling me. Last weekend on the way to another wine tasting one of my suspected lurkers knew too much about WLTV to be a regular citizen, I think I am getting to them.
On top of that, none of my friends like white wine, ( their words not mine)but when I break something out a little different from what they are comfortable with they like it. I am hitting them with the thunder and they don’t even know it.

  211. February 6, 2008

    BGreen

I sent a mass email and I’m hitting all my myspace friends (which by the way i’m still waiting for your add)and I’m going to spray paint winelibrarytv on the side of a cop car….ok i won’t do that but I’m telling everyone i know.

  212. February 6, 2008

    EllenKF

I am a very new viewer of WLTV. I actually stumbled upon it by myself while surfing online for wine reviews- just 2 weeks ago! I have tried to catch up by going into the Thunder Show archives and viewing as much as I can.

It actually surprises me and kind of irritates me that someone else didn’t turn me on to Gary earlier! So, even before this contest, I spread the thunder to everyone I know who loves wines. I’m a big believer in target marketing- my friends are big wine drinkers, and big travelers, and word of mouth is the best way to share Gary. I don’t want to waste spreading the thunder on random people.

  213. February 6, 2008

i have told all my friends, added the “the spread the thunder” app to my facebook page, and also became a fan of wltv AND cork’d on facebook, plus i TAGGED THE BATHROOMS (not at my house) WITH WINELIBRARYTV.COM, straight west coast style

Here you go Gary…..here are my contributions:
    1) Started a blog with the last contest that you started and have kept you badge on there since then
    2) Just did a blog post telling to check out your site and also put up the bring the thunder badge….check it out (www.vintagebottletalk.blogspot.com)
    3) Tell all of my friends all the time
    4) just to be crazey, I stopped three people in the mall yesterday and asked them if you liked wine and gave them a slip of paper with your URL on it and told them to check it out…it was really crazey…..the people liked wine so hopefully they checked it out…..they thought I was a bit nuts though……

    1. As a wine director when people start asking me how I learned about wine I pull out a business card and write your webpage or “Google: Wine Library TV” on the back of it.
    2. As a college student I’ve asked everyone in my major to log in and learn about wine for just one day before Valentine’s days so they can have a little fun and maybe find a fun wine they want to try for the occasion.
    3. I also keep WLTV in my top friends on myspace.
    4. I gab so much about wine that wine library tv comes up in conversation to someone new on an almost daily basis….

Although my “thunder spreading” is alittle weak (just word of mouth to friends and adding to my facebook stuff), I am still a newbie (and recently had a baby so I have been alittle out of the wine loop (if you know what I mean). My husband and I love WLTV and pledge to step up our spreading!

    SIGN ME UP!

Needless to say, I spout off at the mouth to all I know about the G-Man, though he hates my Colts and loves the dreaded Jets. I also have a link to WLTV on my blog.

That’s worth one ticket in the pool.

Sign me up so I can come on your show and kick your arse in paper football, one-on-one or H-O-R-S-E in basketball and tennis which would be a 6-0, 6-0 shellacking. Last but not least, I will probably keep up with you in a round of “wine tasting.” :)

    Cheers!

What up!!!!! Alright just went wine tasting in Temecula (live in SD gotta come out and check it out). I not only told as least 50 patrons about the “bring the thunder” contest. I told one of my friend pourers about it and told her to pass it on (she swears she’ll tell everyone about it). Now you just gotta sample some local Temecula vino! Keep it up bro I’m Mclovin this show!

oops, I already posted about this in the Ep#400 comments section. Basicly, aside from already having told everyone I know about this place, and emailing many links of my favorite episodes to tons of people, I also post about WLTV on a couple of Internet forums (fora?) periodically.

I *could* also suggest that I have booths/tables at college recruitment fairs all over the region, where I hand out wine samples to thousands of high school seniors and encourage them to see WLTV, but that probably wouldn’t be cool (nor true). Alright, NOT funny. Do the ATF nazis read this? uh oh….

I have not only brought the thunder on myspace through your extra sweet lightning bolt in hand graphics and bulletins and all that shenanigans, but i also run a few internet forums where hundreds of people get to read postings about the WLTV.

    did i bring it?

I am a part time teacher at the local technical college. During lecture on Monday, I would slip in “tv.winelibrary.com” into the middle of a sentence here and there. Finally one student asked “what are you saying?”

Hahah… I went on a little three minute tirade about wine, personal growth and Gary Vaynerchuck. I got some looks that told me some would be interested. I got other looks that said “get back to the subject”.

You can’t win them all I suppose.

I made an event on Facebook that i invited all my friends to. I tried to send a StudentOut posting to my entire college body; however, the board administrator said they don’t allow emails involving alcohol to be sent to all 4000 students. It would have been great success if it worked!

I spread the thunder to ever wine geek I know. To start, I’ve turned on my wine buddies. I constantly tell staff at my favorite local wine shops and at restaurants about the show. I know it’s not as exciting as shaving GV into the back of my head and running naked through the mall, but it’s something. I’m doing the work…I’m baby-stepping…..

My “Spreading the Thunder” is a little on the weak side, admittedly. I’ve tried to get a bunch of my friends to start watching the show. Due to a suggestion on an episode that I checked out in the archive though, I’m starting a tasting club with my friends and have made playing “The Thunder Show” in the background while we’re tasting, a prerequisite.

Hey Gary, to spread the thunder I have placed the link to the show on two forums that I am a member of, the Smith and Wesson forum, and the Ruger Firearms forum. A very diverse bunch of folks. I cnotinue to spread the thunder by word of mouth. Thank you for what you do and how much help you have been to me in learning the wine world.

    Hey GV

To spread the thunder I’ve made my signature, on the Penny-Arcade forums, one of the badges, with a link to winelibary.tv. The logo of WLTV is also my avatar.

I’m also using a badge as my facebook picture with my status telling all my friends to go check out the website.

Finally when I drive to Buffalo this weekend with my Girlfriend (a 2 hour drive from college) I am going to have the windows covered with signs telling everyone on the NYState Thru-Way to go to winelibrary.tv

    Keep it up man!

  231. February 6, 2008

I have spread the thunder throughout my tenure as a Vayniac, not only in response to a contest including:

    - Mass emails to family and friends (around 200)
    - Targeted strikes where I send a specific episode that I know a person will like (for example: I sent my vegetarian friend the veggie wine tasting episode last week)
    - I participated in the Veoh video contest and got all of my family and friends involved – seriously, they know all about you and the show after that
    - I wear the original wristband around town
    - I set up a blog and posted the video badge for a previous contest
    - I frequently reference you and your show to others when talking about wine and will send them a follow-up email with the web address
    - I sent the link of the Conan show to family and friends

I do this only because you have a great show…but it would be nice to win something while I’m at it!

  232. February 6, 2008

I told my 3 classes at Sonoma State University about your vlog (~100 students) last week by showing them part of an episode. I will use you as part of my teaching materials throughout the semester. I’ll work on getting an honorary degree for you so that you can be Dr. Vaynerchuk…

  237. February 7, 2008

    Garrett C.

Working in a tasting room gives me the opportunity to spread the thunder in name (oh yes, I give the WLTV plug!) but also in PRACTICE to everyone who comes in. To most people, wineries are scary, intimidating places where they’re afraid to say anything strange and (worse yet) “wrong.” The part of the job that is the most fun is teaching people to trust their own palettes and that they’re no such thing as being incorrect. If the people are new to wine, I do away with tasting notes altogether–power of suggestion can be dangerous! It’s like that show you did with your brother–there’s nothing more satisfying than helping people out of their comfort zone and find things that they enjoy.
I also encourage people to try NEW wines–sometimes people come in and have their “regular”; that’s when I offer them something additional that they haven’t seen before or they may not have tried on their own. I get customers who only want red/white/or sweet and I tell them that the worst thing they can do is limit themselves from perfectly good wine!
There are always those who come in with Spectator tucked under one arm and won’t look at anything below a 90, and I find that they’re the ones who need the most education. They need to be (respectfully) reminded that scores and numbers are completely arbitrary and are determined by individuals whose tastes may be different from theirs. They’re forgetting the cardinal rule about wine which is “drink what tastes good.” They amazed at how much more enjoyable their experiences are when they not bogged down in ratings!

Oh, I’ve introduced WLTV to the Fresno St enology department. As a kid from Jersey, I had to bring a piece of home to these kids in California. Gary, you’re famous among the net generation of winemakers! And best of all, “sniffy sniff” has made it’s way into our wine student vernacular…thanks for not retiring it!

  238. February 7, 2008

    BPlague

Gary I’ve been hanging up fliers about the WLTV on the community news boards at any place I go to around town that has one (bars, restaurants, shops, ect.). I have been trying to work with the groceries and wine shops to put up cards by wines that you have tried but I have not been able to get them to go along with it yet but I’m not giving up. The thunder is getting spread the best I can.

  239. February 7, 2008

    I have:

    1. Kept a prominently placed WLTV widget on my blog continuously since the widget contest.
    2. Written a stellar review on iTunes
    3. Told lots of people in both the US and Turkey about WLTV.

    Thanks for a great show!

do i bring the thunder…well, i feel as though i do, but it is not that immediate bs thunder. i bring that delayed, slow, deep rumbling that shakes the soul.

yeah, my favorite thunder-move is to invite a friend or two over and blow their minds with a killer wine. i especially love it when the guest is into the big-name, frake wines. we pop it, have a few sips, then i introduce them to WLTV. i may have converted to a lurker since the olden days of 1 and 2-episode weeks, but i am still bringing that thunder.

I also like to bust up into pretentious wine tastings blazin the original vayniac black T, starched, under my sports coat…

    1. I wear wltv t shirts to wine spectator offlines :) and all other wine related events i go to, including wineries and wine bars!
    2. Reviewed on itunes
    3. spread the thunder on facebook through the app
    4. spread the thunder of my skeleton website by using the widget
5.Tell every person I know about it to use it to get people into wine, the most fun has been using it with my parents who are just getting into wine.

To spread the thunder I try to tell all of my alcohol-consuming friends about WLTV. I just created the “Smart Wine Drinkers of America” facebook group inspired by episode #402. Join up! I’ve also added the Thunder by Wine Library TV app. on facebook and set my status to “Andrew is spreading the thunder! tv.winelibrary.com”

    Love the show!

I’ve also posted about you on facebook

Okay, the thunder is more important than my resistance to social networking sites. SO, I’ve started a facebook profile (GV friend #1) and will have my students link their pages to me. Beginning to use your show as a reference to interesting forms of evaluation (teaching public health program evaluation is one of my areas). Getting the students to get past just numbers and make judgments based on their senses is critical, and you’re helping to do that – and i’m helping spread the thunder!

  245. February 7, 2008

    mikey lennon

How did I spread the thunder? I posted a link to your show on facebook and said to check it out if they wanna learn about wine. Also going to tell some of my customers that buy wine to check out Wine Library TV.

    I’ve spread the THUNDER by:
-friending you up everywhere I belong
-recommending you to everyone I know interested in wine
-telling customers (I’m a waiter) that they have to watch you and buy from wl.com
-chatting about WLTV @ tastings and different wine events
-emailing out your great deals and recommendations /w links to the show

Thanks for doing what you’re doing Gary.

I love spreading the thunder! I live on a campus of about 14,000 students. A popular way to advertise parties, fraternities, and other special events is to “chalk-up” campus.

There are probably a few miles of sidewalk around campus, and it’s hard to walk from class to class without seeing one of these. I will post a video of me, making large sidewalk signs that will SPREAD THE THUNDER!

I am also working on a way to get an advertisement for WLTV on our school’s TV station. My friend is a behind the scenes worker making graphics, so I have a pretty good in there. I think a student body of 14,000 who are new to alcohol and especially wine is a good target to aim at.

I have spread the thunder in a number of ways:
I sent out messages to facebook friends as well as emailed people
I talked about the show and encouraged people to watch it at a wine tasting at a local wine store
Hosted a wine and cheese party for the students in my program and told everyone about the show
But most importantly, I campaigned for Gary on Super Tuesday! I went outside my polling place and tried my best to get people to not only watch the show, but vote for Gary in the primary. Unfortunately, the voting was electronic and there was no place for a write in, so I don’t think anyone could vote for Gary V!

    Gary,

Just wanted to let you know that I’ve encouraged thousands and thousands of new mommies on BabyFit.com to watch episode 402 to see Vivian in action. Just think… if all those new moms encourage all their children to expand their palates… the exponential growth potential for the Thunder Show is unparalleled. That’s worth a couple of entries in the bucket at least, don’t you think? ;-)

    2) Home Page of my personal performing artist site: http://www.graziella.us
contains link to WLTV site, and Gary’s face!

    3)MY Personal Blog: http://www.graziellabaratta.com/2008/02/wine-library-tv-webfomercial.html
contains an article and the Webfomercial.

5)Spread the Thunder to my email list, and through facebook too

    6) Last but not least, the webfomercial will be loop- broadcast to my audience at the premiere of my dinner- theater event in Englewood, NJ this Friday. “Puttin on the G” was previously off- Broadway, and now bringing it to Jersey for the first time- WLTV’s webfomercial will be played before the start of the musical, during intermission, and after the show, during the cabaret/dance part of the evening. http://www.puttinontheg.com

If only this contest was not during the week of my premiere, I could’ve done more!!! I did my best, though ;-)

Put up a badge and a shout out on my blog, gonna spam Myspace too. not too many of my friends are into wine, but I’ve been ranting about Wine Library TV for a few weeks now, they are probably tired of me by now!

And, since I have only been watching for a few weeks…this has basically been an effort from day 1! Not that it’s anything too impressive, I know, but hey it’s something!

    Gary,

Tomorrow morning I will “SPREAD THE THUNDER” by placing a banner on an overpass above interstate 405 in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. I checked with the state dept of transportation and this location has 90,000 vehicles pass by on a typical day. I will post more video from the overpass tomorrow night.

I have been watching for only a short time but I am a big fan. I have been telling all my friends and relatives about WLTV and encouraging them all to watch. To convince some of them I even bought some christmas wine tasting packs and sent it to them to get them hooked into watching the show.

    Hi Gary,

I’ve been spreading the thunder through my wineclub, chateausanspretention, a club or young people getting or being into wine. I gave you a thinking blogger award on my blog(see http://csp.skynetblogs.be, the post of the 27th of january) so lots of belgian winelovers saw it. The people of http://www.cheffen.nl counterlinked to this message so i probably got some dutch people into the Vayniac world too. I symbolically also replaced R. Parker as first link by yours. So welcome to the Dutch speaking wineworld !!!

    Sheri Ryan

I give up…All week long my husband(Rob Ryan) has been occupied with spreading the thunder and now I am finally spreading some thunder myself. First, I wrote a great review of your podcast on I-Tunes.
Second, I spread the thunder at work by attaching a WLTV banner on all of my EMails. People have been asking me what it is all about and I have been explaining and getting a lot of positive feedback!
Third, this Saturday morning I am going to stand in front of the mall as a human billboard advertising WLTV. I have two pieces of oak-tag that hang over my shoulders. I printed up a flyer about your website and will be handing it out to anyone who will listen. Sometimes a face-to-face is the best method of advertising. We will try to take pictures and send them to you.
Finally, Saturday night we will be staying in the Marriot Marquis in Times Square(We are seeing Spamalot) and we have planned to slip a WLTV Flyer(the same flyer that Rob has been handing out at the train station) under as many doors as humanly possible. I think there is something like 2000 rooms and if we get to half of them I will call it a success! We are going with 2000 flyers and coming back with none! By the way the people at kinkos love us! We are calling it ‘Operation late night excitement!’
Hey Mottt…Link this up…www.marriottmarquis.com As you can see we posted this at 1:30a.m. and we plan to be fully involved tomorrow night at the same time!!!

I have been preaching the gospel of WLTV to anyone who will listen. My facebook page is riddled with Wine Library ads and pictures. Only 266 comments for a contest??? Am I missing something? Ok, I’m a lurker, I’m a poor CKC who hasn’t had 99.9% of the wines on the show, but I LOVE to watch anyway. And someday, hope to use the GV Wisdom to take my pallet to la la land. Umm, spreading the thunder…Facebook app, word of mouth, and that’s it. SAD, very sad. Compared to the competition, I don’t deserve 1/4 of a vote. But, if I can get 1, just 1 entry, then there’s hope, eh? If not, still watch, still laugh, and still love! Vayniac-wanna-be…

First of all, let me say that Gary, and Mott, you are RADOOL! I love you guys and this show because its more than just a show. Its a lifestyle! I for one am spreading the thunder by submitting one of my paintings on deviantart.com
It is a painting of a wine bottle and glass with the winelibrary.tv logo on the bottle. I am hoping that people will print it out and hang it on their walls to show their true WLTV love. Thanks to this show I now bleed wine!

Gary, and the WLTV Team, WOW!!!!!, what a week for WLTV 400 ‘runs’ and now “Spread the Thunder”.

Well, ‘down under’ I am a great fan, mention to many, download and travel to ASIA with the fun and words (show it often to others at 30′000 ft) … best part of the week sitting down with a bottle recommended and having you up on the 50 inch plasma (via the lap top) and then with the wife – ’sniffy sniffy’ and tasting as you do on screen!! awesome!!

Now to “spread the thunder” ‘down under’…… (Nice catch phrase) I created a story on the AU Wine Forum site – see by 100’s every day: So for you to see just go to: http://forum.auswine.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=7816

Well my thunder was the quiet rumbly sort of way. I emailed out a plug to my address book of 350 names. I gave you a linkedin recommendation (which you haven’t accepted by the way.) I printed out episode 200 home page and left one pinned to my cubicle at work so people would ask. I introduced my Brother to a ten dollar 2005 bourdoux blend as he wont touch anything under 25 dollars (He claims headache). Now he is looking with a new light that cheap doesn’t mean bad, you have to try it. (Let me tell you I decanted that for 3 hours and was very impressed with the difference decanting made.)

My efforts at spreading the thunder are as follows:

my blog- ( http://bairdsbolognablog.blogspot.com ) has: WLTV badge and search WLTV, and I sometimes reference WLTV in my posts

Facebook- friended up GV and added ask gary thingie.

introduced my girlfriend to WLTV, and she is addicted to watching GV and the thundershow, which is great, becasue she hasen’t touched a drop of alcohol in her life, but she likes getting a “sniffy sniff” of the wines I taste.

Not much, but I am trying!

Keep up the great work Gary !

    Gary-
Unfortunately I was out of town on business most of this week and I fell a little behind on my thunder show, thus forgot the importance of spreading the thunder particularly this week. However, I do spread the thunder often anyway. I bought both of the holiday packs and introduced my family to the thunder show. I wore my wristband to a wine party that my parents held before Christmas and told everyone there about it. One woman thought I was joining a cult. In fact, I also used the Gary’s Scores sheet that sschris updates to buy wine for that party and described your show to the ‘wine professionals’ at my local liquor store. I have also updated my web page recently to feature your badge on the front page and have always had your facebook apps on my facebook profile.

Today, since I have missed any major opportunity to influence a whole ton of people, I decided I would at least influence the people in my office. So I printed out one of your web page badges and I badged-up my office. I also wore my lurker shirt today.

So Gary, Mott and the rest of the wine library crew, Thanks.

Also, have you ever thought of making a sticker for the schwag section? I was thinking about adding a bumper sticker to my car or individualize my water bottle. Would love to buy a bunch to help spread the thunder on a more regular basis.

Ok, bringing the thunder even further:

I just announced a competition on my blog. In Sweden, there are few other options to get wine than buying from the state owned monopoly Systembolaget. I have a hard time finding the wines GV recommend on their site. The competition is for someone to find the best value driven wine that GV recommended here (or anywhere) that exists in their catalog. I decide who wins and the winner gets the winning bottle of wine. The idea is to get people to come here and look for wines.

The competition is here: http://www.spishang.se/2008/02/tvling-vinn-en.html and for Swedes only.

Hello Gary! I live in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia and one thing I do for some extra cash and to keep fit is deliver junk mail/catalogues into letterboxes. I deliver to three big areas and 700+ houses. I have been known to, more than once, print out my own WineLibraryTV flyers with the web address on it and message that if you have a net connection then this is the most entertaining video podcast you can find. I then add the flyers to my junk mail pile and deliver them. So there’s some free advertising. Even if it got 1 person out of 700 to watch then it was worth it! Thunder Down Under!

    Chris Jones (aka IPv6Freely)

    1. I made a blog post on my website ( http://www.theareazero.com ).
    2. Talk about WLTV all the time with people at work.
    3. Showed my mom WLTV when I was back home over Christmas. She liked it enough to ask me to go bookmark the site on her laptop
    4. I’ve been wearing my WLTV wristbands while playing racquetball at least twice a week
    5. I’ve changed my email signature at work to include a link to WLTV
    6. Subscribed to the WLTV Feedburner Feed.
    7. Added a WLTV badge to my website
    8. Added a WLTV widget to my website
    9. And finally, I created a group on Facebook – “Help Chris win the ‘Bring the Thunder’ contest!”. I’ve invited all my friends, and as of this point have 28 members (Including Mr Vaynerchuk, and some people who probably joined after seeing Gary V join). I’m aiming for 100 at some point, even though that may not happen until the contest is over.

Here’s what I’ve been able to do:
1 – I sent an email out to my friends and family members encouraging them to check out WLTV and leave comments (it was to about 70 people).

2 – I am Gary’s Facebook and LinkedIn friend. I changed my Facebook status to promote the thunder and recommended Gary on LinkedIn.

3 – I have been regularly verbally recommending the show since I started watching.

4 – I have started planning a Thunder Tasting event in late-Feb/early-March to bring together some good people and have a bit of blind-tasting fun.

Hey Gary. Wow, people have had such great and creative ideas! Great job, everyone!

Here’s what I’ve been doing to “spread the thunder:”

    1. Status updates on Twitter telling everyone to watch WLTV (my twitter account is linked to my blog).

    2. I wrote a blog post telling people why I enjoy watching WLTV and why I think they should too.

    3. There is also a widget on my blog.

    4. There’s a widget on my myspace profile.

    5. I sent out an email to everyone on my email contacts list (certainly no 400 like one person said, but there are a lot of peeps on there).

    6. I put an ad in my sorority’s alumni newsletter (should be in there in the next edition)

    7. Put a WLTV plug in my facebook status, as well as joining WLTV groups and adding WLTV to my “I’m a Fan Of” application.

    8. I write “Watch tv.winelibrary.com” on the restaurant copies of receipts (it’s like the server gets 2 tips really…one monetary and one tip for a new hobby!)

    9. I talk about it a lot with my friends and have planned a WLTV wine-tasting party to officially get them hooked! I’ve already gotten a couple of people to watch it with me.

Gary V, since i discovered your show in October, you have gotten me so excited about wine that the thunder has been flowing out of me ever since. here are a few things i have been doing to help spread it.

    1) having my friends over for dinner at least once a week, and have them bring a bottle of wine. this is a group of CKC’s that were not into wine at all. We talk wine, i have turned a few of them onto you, and most importantly we have a great time. a few times we have even gotten a bottle you have reviewed and then we watch the review while we taste.

    2) I sent out a mass e-mail to my contacts telling them how awesome the Thunder Show is and how it has opened my eyes to the wine world.

    3) At tastings inside wineshops, whenever i end up chatting with somebody and meeting a new friend i ask them if they watch any blogs online, and bring up and reccomend your show.

    4)reviwed your podcast on iTunes

Gary you have drawn me into the world of wine, and ever since the thunder has been flowing out of me, i have gotton a few peeps pretty stolked on wine, but i know that if i can get people to watch your show, they are going to be so energized and excited. Gary, YOU!!! with a little bit of me, we’re changing the world…are’nt we!!!

I can’t believe I waited until Friday to leave a comment. I have good reason though, started a web development job in NYC this week, woot! It’s radool. Unfortunately, my WLTV video project was put on hold. But don’t forget, I DID make the wristband feeder facebook application! That’ll have to count for now. And badging you up on my website of course.

    sobojosh

Well, I wish I was more creative, and I did have a pretty sweet idea, but oh well.

I need a new wrist band mine’s worn out. I wear it at work (mixologist/somm) and it’s a great conversation piece. The thunder spreads!

GARY!!! when I heard about this contest knew I had to rock it out and bring MAJOR thunder. I have you on my facebook, as a friend and an icon. I have made a blog entry all about you on my blog with a link to your site… and though you will jsut have to trust me on this… I have got a relitively good sized wine community here at work (I work for Ford) and I am telling EVERYone about you. and anywhere else I can think of bro… cause us… with ALLOT of you… we’re changing the wine world baby… whether they like it or not.

    Gary-
I have very simple way, no videos, no posters, no banners and unfortunately I don’t have a blog, call me outdated I know. It is the only way I know how to spread the thunder as I have been ever since I became a follower, word of mouth and emailing my 400 contacts. I know not alot but still a grass roots effort!

Last night when I taught the Wine 101 class that we offer our clients, I told the story of how I found you GV and became a Vanyiac! They all wrote down the website and I guarantee none of them are Lurkers!! Of course I wore my T-shirt while I taught the class and both wristbands!!

I have also featured you in our newsletter to show everyone how you bring on the thunder. Last night the owner of the store (who I got hooked on the Thunder show) described a red zinfandal as, “if you stuck a small piece of wood in the fire for a couple of minutes, let it smolder a little, wrapped a piece of leather around it and stuck it in your mouth, that is what this wine tastes like!!!!” Sounds like she has had some influence on her ability to describe what a wine tastes like.

    YOU ROCK!!!

    Hey Gary,
    Spreading the thunder by:
-Had a wine party for the superbowl with about 20 friends and had some wines you had on the show like the turkey flat rose which I encouraged everyone to check you out
-added you to facebook and tried to on myspace but had no responce
-anyone I came across or met I mentioned you as one of my hobbies
-I work at a liquor store which anyone who came in and was interested in wine I mentioned you and I will continue to do so even after the contest
-Will continue to spread the thunder in the future with more creative ideas but only had a week and I work full time while trying to finish up school in May.

Im a CKC who loves your show and is glad your keeping it going. Thank you so much and I look forward to another 400 episodes. Keep the bargin wine shows going because the 50 to 200 dollar bottles of wine that have been on in the last couple of weeks just made me upset that I don’t have the bones for them.

Ive been talking your show up to my friends and coworkers for many months now. But to help Spread the Thunder…

I posted a blog entry on my high school friends community blog; http://workermonkey.blogspot.com/

Im about to turn 27, so we’ve had this thing up and running for awhile now, i doubt this will have any mass market appeal, but these are my closest bros from way back.

And i want you to know this ain’t about winning for me, its about doing a little something for you Gary, because its really great what you got going here and i appreciate it, Thanks.

    Getting out the Thunder:

Holding a Wine Tasting at the house, debuting some Vayner Christmas Pack wines and the Leocadie!!!

Wearing the new wristband at wine tastings when people are like, “who is that fool with a wristband”!!

Emailing (spamming those who haven’t heard from me in months) every person in my address book!!

And explaining my widget to all those who want/or don’t want, to hear about it!

    GV-
My idea admittedly is not as sweet as standing in Times Square handing out flyers, or putting up a billboard on I-75, but I have been telling one person per day about the Thunder Show either in person, on the phone, or over e-mail. I am going for quality here over quantity, and trying to personalize the invitation to become a Vayniac. When I get their feedback, (so far all positive) I ask each person to tell another person they are close with about “The Thunder Show”. This way we are sending out high quality invitations that hopefully are self perpetuating. Some call it a pyramid scheme, but I prefer to call it “spreading the thunder”.

I have long been spreading the thunder to all my friends and family. When ever wine comes up as a topic, I make sure people know they need to watch WLTV and how to find it.
I ware my Thunder band to wine tastings.
I wore Thunder T-Shirts to final exams.
I have badges on my Facebook and Myspace.
I am working with my brother on a video blog where we taste wine/beer ect, pare it with food, then cook the food. Due to video issues this will not be up until late Feb.

I have introduced the show to at last two friends. Got one of them hooked, and another doesn’t drink, so.. no hope there. But even so, I still bombard both of them with links to eps that I think are interesting. Not as impressive as many others, but I am doing a little :)
Oh, I’ve also added the AskGary App to my Facebook front page.

Keep up the good work Gary!

    Brady B.

    Gary,

To spread the THUNDER I had several ideas. The first isn’t finalized yet but I’m talking to the biggest wine store in town here (Springfield, MO) to let me put fliers on the doors and in their email magazine. They weren’t too keen on the idea at first since they ship wine across country too, but they are considering a flier about the blog only and a link to a web site that doesn’t directly link to your retail side of things (like You Tube). My second idea is to use the campus resources available at Missouri State. I’ve asked our radio station to tell the listening world about you and I’ve posted fliers on the boards at campus shuttle stops. I’m also trying to get a spot in the bi-monthly email sent out to 22,000 students. Lastly I’d like to start a student organization of Vaniacs but I still need a faculty adviser and approval from the student government association.

    Hey GV & Moot!
This thing is really going large, aint it? It’s totally rad to watch some of the things the people do!
    So, what have I done to bring the thunder to other? Well;

    * Have mailed all the people I have on my mailinglist, alot of cooks here in Norway, including some big names (people working with The Norvegian Cooking Championship, The Norvegian Culinary Team etc.)
Have also taken my close friends, having wine 101’s, making them see what glass, temperatur etc can do to wine.
    * Have done a iTunes review
*Did a blogpost on my webpage, also thinking about starting a new wineblog, if I got time for it (havent found any winenewb site’s)
    * Have got my page and Facebook account “pimped up” with WLTV and Thuder widgets (also spread the word on the book)
    * Also, the thing that have made me happy, is my students. I’m the youngest (21 years old) fulltime working teacher in any High School in Norway, and I have done something never been done before in our school. I’m training new chef’s and waiters, the new hopeful in the growing Norvegian restaurantbussines. What I have done is that I have gotten all the parents permission to let they’re children taste wine in scholl. I have used your show (like the Conan “episode”) to show them that the world of wine don’t need to be only the snobs, but something that can make they’re life richer. And these young one’s actually agree. So these hopeful will help spreading the Thunder, but what’s more importent, they have opened they’re eye’s for a so rich and interesting world. The wineworld!

    Thank you all!!!!

Not the mega efforts you’re getting from some, but I have a WLTV widget on my blog (CraigMacDonald.blogspot.com). And in the bordering-on-tacky department I wear my Wine Library Tee when I shop at my local wine store. I keep telling the guy he needs to hook up with GV but so far I don’t think he has.

Spread the thunder….Gary I have a unique one. I just did this 10 minutes ago and it’s a “permanent” spread the thunder. I play poker on Pokerstars.com with my wife every night while we watch and listen to your show. Anyways, the site let’s you create an avatar which is seen by everyone for the duration that you are at their table. I had to play with your badges, but I finally came up with one. There are as many as 150,000 players on Pokerstars at once. this is international. So that is some serious thunder on the exposure. also, it’s permanent…so every night people will have Wine Library TV in front of them. I think this deserves more than 1 entry due to it’s stickiness…my screename on Pokerstars is the same as my name here “aronowm2″. Love the show. later.

I changed my status on facebook to say, “Be radool about wine, spread the Thunder (tv.winelibrary.com). I also told wine buyers at our liquor store about the T-Show. I also wore a T-Show shirt to the Chelsea Clinton appearance on the U of Nebraska campus.

Ok – so I am having trouble with http://www.spreadthethunder.com – however, I will create a site for Vayniacs to contribute their own wine videos as soon as my IT guys help me set it up.

In the meantime, I will continue to spread the thunder by encouraging the Fort Worth Jerks to learn wine, through your site, which several have begun browsing for purchases (a very big deal).

Also, I will continue to promote the WLTV as much as I can through the insurance industry.

Gary – ever need to cut your insurance costs – I can help no charge! Whatever helps WL thrive!!!!

I was interviewed by our local newspaper at a wine tasting tonight. One of the questions she asked me was where I learned about wines. I told her that I learned so much from Gary Vaynerchuk at WineLibrary.com. I told her that I subscribe on itunes and that everyone should try it. Hope that helped spread the thunder. My only regret was that I wasn’t wearing my schwag tonight.

Thanks for everything Gary and Mott!

Welp, this is my effort to spread the thunder. Not only have a turned some coworkers in to Vanyiacs. But I also changed my profile details within my gamer tags.

As you may see, I added a bit of detail to the MySpace profile. I also added some details in my Xbox gamer profile: http://live.xbox.com/member/AceGmr

Did the same to my PS3 profile, but that can’t be shared without someone adding me to their friends list: PlayStation Network Username: ACE_GMR

I would of added a banner to my PlayStation Forum signature, but we are not allowed to have content related to alchohol. :\

But this is my effort, none the less.

Hope this helps bring in some new thunder to your show.

    GG, GV. :)

Missed your show yesterday with your pops and pipes, but caught up today. Reason I missed it was that I invited 5 of my close friends over for a wine tasting. The kicker is that all of them are big beer drinkers and not one of them had ever experienced wine other than MD or Boones Farm years ago when you drank it for a cheap drunk. By the time we were done, I believe I converted all 5 to become regular wine drinkers. I showed them your episode 148 and they have all subcribed to your show now. Next project is to have a wine tasting over the internet with my 5 siblings that live in 5 different states. We are all buying the same 5 wines and will taste them and e-mail each other our tasting notes as we do it. I know it is not huge but in my own small way with a little of me and a lot of you, I am spreading the thunder.

I have spread the Thunder on Facebook my blog that as of right now is out of service. I have also spread the thunder to my friends which as of now at least one is now a Vanyiac. Wear my T-Shirts including GV’s Dodgeball shirt to campus and around town as well as my wristbands. If anyone asks I send them here. Got my family into real wine and not just Yellowtail. Purchased different wine for both Thanksgiving and Xmas. If my school work lightens up then I am going to make flyers and leave them in the seats and desks of my University.
Took a trip out to the East End on Long Island and told everyone about WLTV if they had not heard about it.

What do you get when you combine 1 man, a 20 foot banner and a 25 mile an hour breeze?

    A failed attempt!

Keep in mind that all of the things that happened below were in full view of bumper to bumper rushour traffic.

Had the best intentions of putting up the tv.winelibrary.com banner this morning. Drove to the overpass, go out and noticed that the wind was blowing pretty hard. Went through the truck to see if I could find some twine to hold one of the poles to the fence while I stretched the sign out. Unfortunately, no twine…However, I did find a box of dental floss…It would have to do.

Got up on the overpass and put the banner up against the fence and tied one pole (not very well mind you) with the dental floss. Started to unwrap the banner. Got it all of the way open and this is where things went awry. The wind changed direction and wripped the sign off of the pole I was holding. I grabbed the end that was whipping around and plastered myself up against the fence. At this point I did get two separate honks from cars below. Not sure if they were Vayniacs or just people who were rooting for the banner to win the fight. Was able to keep the banner up for a couple of minutes and then the dental floss gave up the ghost and the other pole went flying. I figured I had given it my best college try, so I piled everything up in the middle of the overpass and made the following video.

    http://www.viddler.com/explore/magnumgourmet/videos/2/

My message may not have reached as many people as I would have preferred, but I hope you still give me one or two entries for effort.

I live in Japan, for now, and travel Asia extensively and often. What I’ve been doing is resetting the homepages on computers in internet cafes & coffee houses to http://www.tv.winelibrary.com ! Over the past month or so, I’ve done the deed in HK, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Denpasar (Bali), Tokyo, and Saporro. In a couple days I’ll be in Pakistan & will begin my assault in that country! I have no idea if it is working, but the simple thought of someone sitting down to begin their internet session & being greeted with “Hello every-buddy and welcome to winelibrary TV…” makes me smile. Oh, I’ve also created a ringtone for my phone of Gary’s WLTV opening :-) (and Gary, don’t worry about flying me back to the States, I’ll be back for a few months this Spring/Summer. If you catch me at the right time I’ll already be in Ocean County, NJ. I’m saving you major bones!)

Have you ever went GEOCACHING??????? Geocaching is a hunt for treasure type game that anyone can do as long as they have a GPS device in order to find the hidden caches. I am going to SPREAD THE THUNDER by hiding a geocache by the name of “You, with a little bit of me…..” somewhere in the Northeast Texas area and then I will list it on “geocahing.com” so that it will be available for thousands and thousands to see and go find. When they find the hidden cache container it will be full of “http://tv.winelibrary.com” stickers and a log book to sign. Also, there are Travel Bugs that a geocacher can activate and put in a hidden cache. The Travel Bug is given a goal and geocachers then help the Travel Bug complete its goal by moving it from cache to cache until it’s goal is completed. I am also going to be placing a Travel Bug in the cache and the Travel Bugs name is going to be WLTV and its goal is going to be to make its way to Gary at WLTV via the geocache system and possibly be on the show. It may take it a few weeks or a few years to get to WLTV if it gets there at all. Hopefully it will pass through many hands of those geocasher’s and SPREAD THE THUNDER. This will all start as soon as geocaching.com posts the hidden cache. If you want to follow the progression of either the cache, the Travel Bug or both, then go to geocaching.com and do a search for “You, with a little bit of me…”

    Senor Sangria

    Here is what i’ve done:

    Standard Stuff:
    - Let all my friends and family know about you guys

    - Emailed special episodes to friends (the beer one really caught the attention of one of my friends)

    Different Stuff:
    - Went onto Yahoo and opened up an ad account. I bought some ads on google for winelibrary TV.

    - I perform implemenation and training sessions to make some money on the side. On the white board i would write tv.winelibrary.com without telling anyone. Eventually someone would ask the question. What is that. Then i would tell them to go experience it. It is nothing that you’ve seen before.

    - As I start my new business and meet with Retailers. I tell them that i’ve met with Gary and explain what he had to say about my sangria. Then i follow up and tell them to check out his show at tv.winelibrary.com

    Cheers!

    How I’m passing the Thunder…
    1) Buy wine from WLTV – free shipping helps ;)
    2) Invite targeted friends, coworkers, and relatives over for the wine who I know will embrace WLTV and embrace their own palette
    3) Watch WLTV episodes at the same time tasting the vino.
    4) Tell them to spread the viral thunder and buy more wine from WLTV.
    5) Next week we’ll crack open the Christmas Pack!!

Small sidenote… EVERY bottle I’ve bought from WL I’ve given away to friends to help spread the thunder… That’s just how I roll.

I went “New World” on spreading the Thunder and focused on the Web 2.0:

    1. Of course I Friended you up on Facebook and added all of the aps to my page
    2. Then I “Linked You Up” on Linked in and recommended you
    2. Wrote a review on iTunes
    3. I then took that one step further and rated ALL of the reviews on iTunes — of course dissing the bad ones and pumping up the good ones!
    4. And finally, I created an “Official Vayniac” icon for AIM so the 200+ people on my Buddy List will look at it EVERY DAY and say “WOW — what is that all about?”

I can’t say I have done anything too crazy, but I do my little bit on a personal level. I tell my friends and family, and I email them with links to specific episodes that seem especially relevant to them.

Last summer I had Wine Library send cases of (mostly) the same wines to my niece, my nephew, and to me. My niece and nephew have been CKC’s until recently, and although they are interested in wine, they don’t have a lot of money. I picked bottles that are inexpensive and that Gary had reviewed favorably, and I emailed them the links to all the episodes where Gary had reviewed the wines. The idea was to convince them that you don’t have to spend big bucks to drink good wine, and to be able to compare their own experience with these wines to Gary’s experience, each other’s, and mine.

Being a true fan of good wine and good food, I have been spreading the thunder the following ways:
    1) I have posted links to Winelibrarytv on my wine and food blog (http://redwhiteandfood.blogspot.com/)
    2) I have sent links to the show, via email, to all my freinds and co-workers telling them to check out the action.
3)I have been telling my dental patients about Gary and winelibrarytv as I often talk about food and wine at chairside. (http://www.mainstreetdental.com).

    hello,

i’ve been telling anyone who’ll listen about WLTV. while it’s garnered some interest and increased the viewing audience, unfortunately, it’s also resulted in some small, er, downsides for me. i no longer have friends, as i’m so enthusiastic about bringing the thunder that they actually can’t stand being around me anymore. i also have a restraining order against me from the local wine shop operator… but hey, he needs to understand — us, plus a little bit of gary, we’re CHANGING the wine world!!! if that means destroying all of the oak monster wines and replacing them with 2001 pinot noirs, then, so be it.

also, i’m voting for gary for president.

…ok, most of that isn’t true. but i told friends & family, and they think it’s pretty cool that i know a thing or two about wine now, thanks to GV. my boyfriend & i enjoy the show immensely and hope we have it to watch for years to come!

    good job gary!

Not spreading as hardcore as some others, but I’ve got a market that few tap into!

Of course, I’m on the Facebook apps – already had a few friends say that my links got them into the show.

Furthermore, I drink a lot of wine – on Shabbat! And in Jerusalem, no less!

Most of my friends are Americans, so they can really get into the sniffy-sniff. I’ve got a couple friends with whom I do a tasting once every couple weeks, and we’ll usually watch the show together!

Most importantly, I got my girlfriend to go from saying “smells like stingy” to “smells like burned tire” in just a couple of weeks! Hurrah for the Vaynerchuk Vocabulary!*

I admit I probably haven’t been the most original, or extravagant, in my ways of “spreading the thunder”, but every little bit helps I hope.

I’ve told family and friends about the show, but honestly I don’t know if there’s been much success there. I think podcasts and video on computers / the internet may be something they just can’t completely wrap their heads around. (I bet that Apple TV would be a huge help!) I’ve also still got the widget on my blog from the previous contest.

One other thing I’ve been doing, (more so because it’s just how I view the show a lot of times rather than specifically because of the contest) is viewing the show while at the local Starbucks, cafe, or whatever. I’ve had people here and there ask me what I’m watching (I think they are intrigued, “is that a wine show?,” and are compelled out of curiosity to ask) of course I’m happy tell them and to point them to Wine Library TV on the internets. I’m not shy about watching the “Thunder Show” either. I don’t squirrel away in the corner so no one sees. I like sitting by the window and noticing when someone walking by pauses to see what I’m watching.

Anyway, thanks for doing the “Thunder Show.” It’s honestly what piqued my interest in wine. Thanks.

    Hey GV-

So I’ve been around spreading the Thunder. I’ve done the usual: taught my family how to taste wine and bring them new things to try out, recommend different wines to friends, bought the Thanksgiving and Xmas 4Packs to share with friends, added the apps on facebook, and changed the headline on Myspace to “In the name of Gary Vaynerchuk and everything that’s Holy!”

I also made a video (with the help of fellow Vayniac Beth and a late night trip to get more batteries) to help spread the Thunder. I’ve posted it to my facebook and myspace account. It’s also on youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYIQSyBtzmA

Finally, I won’t be stopping there. It’s thanks to GV that I really got interested in the wine world. I’m in grad school now and I’ll be doing a wine-related internship in France and writing my thesis on wine. This will help propel me into that world, but most importantly, it was WLTV that first got me on this path and I’ll never forget it! I’ll continue to spread the Thunder once I’m out there too.

PS- After making a short amateurish video, I was surprised at how much work went into it. Thanks GV, Mott, and everyone at the store for putting this out! Now I have a better understanding of how much work goes into the podcast!

    I spread the thunder in many ways;
    1. Word of mouth; family and friends hanging out drinking the wine watching WLTV.
    2. Posted it the link to WLTV on my companies internal website and hosted a tasting at a corporate event using the expense episode #338 (good thing I expensed the wine; lol )
    3. I wear my wristband almost everywhere I go.
    4. To date I have brought over 100 people to WLTV that watch regularly; most are probably lurkers :)
    5. In the days ahead I will find some additional ways to spread the thunder and keep it real.

I am slowly but surely spreading the thunder here in Japan. I’ve brought two friends on board through word of mouth and on Facebook…they both enjoy the show and watch regularly.

What I’m considering doing in the next academic year will surely bring more thunder to the show. I’d like to use the Bring the Thunder contest in my Global Media Studies class as an example of alternative marketing strategies. The language Gary uses will be beyond most of the students, but I’m sure the show will pick up a couple of fans.

Konichiwa mother spreaders!! Yeah, bringin’ the thunder to Japan HARD CORE STYLE.
Let’s get the obvious speadations out of the way: I’ve told all my friends, family, coworkers, etc. Next, I’ve told all of them again to the point where some of them are calling me a Vayniac even though they don’t yet know the meaning. Like my grandmas, she doesn’t know what the internet is but she knows I’m a Vayniac.

Let us continue. At a wine tasting at the Narita (International Airport city y’all) View Hotel which I was the speaker at on the 16th of last month I wore my Vayniac wrist band with my snazzy suit. Also, during my power point slide presentation I had pics with me in my Official Vayniac T and, of course, preached the glory of winelibrary, trusting your palate (and your wallet) and the dynamics of thunder and other meteorological wine phenomena.
But this is not enough, so I have the badge (yeah, I badged you up, GV) on my blog http://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/foxewine . and a link to the WineLib website in my “favorites” bar. Mos def this is some spreadation in the Land of the Rising Sun. They have Tsunami now they have THUNDER!!!

At our monthly wine tastings at our house we have the noise of the thunder on my computer in the backround and often use it as a case study of wines that our members have questions about.
I go to a lot of wine tastings around the Tokyo area for the wine trade and meet a lot of wine shop owners, winemakers, restaurateurs and make it a point to direct them to tv.winelibrary.com to check out some realness.

I wear the wristbands and T-shirts all the time. We do it trenchroot style over here. That’s a grass root’s approach when you’re down in the trenches and you know how those trade events can get with “they”. Let’s keep changing the wine world. UNITE VAYNIACS! FORM ARMS AND LEGS! FORM BODY AND HEAD! Yeah, forget Voltron cuz we have Vaynertron!

Lastly, I wrote this long ass message that I hope people will read with all the other comments and feel inspired to go spread the thunder.

Oh, you didn’t think I’d leave out a recommendation on Linkedin, or a plug on Facebook or a mailing to all the peeps in my wine tasting group.

I’m a newbe. I grew up in a “Dry House” and this past summer had my first glass of wine at age 31. For Christmas I received a bottle of wine as a gift from my boss and decided to find a place to learn… Gary you’re a great teacher and I subscribed the moment I found you.

I tend to do an “Episode Recap” at work at least once a week, with a great deal of dramatic interpretation and almost as much passion as you show during the show. Several of the people I work with know a bit about wine and I pose my follow-up questions to them.

I have also posted my thoughts on learning about wine and about winelibraryTV to a mailing list with 4432 members, and will continue to share the thunder. Not because of any contest but because you rock that much!

Thanks for the thundershow, it’s great, you’re great, and I’m learning a lot.

    How I spread the Thunder…

    A. I have officially ‘unlurked’, no more hiding in the closet…I now proclaim my love for Gary V. by being a subscriber.
    B. As a Sommelier in training with the International Sommelier Guild in Orlando, Florida, I have interaction with winos from all over the state of Florida who get an ear full of WLTV talk.
    C. I recently emailed the WLTV link to every sommelier in training at the Rosen College UCF in hopes that Gary V can teach them what he taught me…Wine should be fun and not stuffy or rigid no matter what your background!

Thanks to the internet’s third greatest kung fu action wine show!

Here’s the thunder I’ve been thundering out:

    1. First offline, all the wine shops I go into, now have Wine Library TV as a bookmark. I refused to let them take down the address, I showed them the Thunder show on my ipod touch, then got them to open it up on their browsers and add to bookmarks before I left the shops.

    2. Featured and embedded WLTV on my blog, sourgrapes.ie (a couple of times)

    3. You’re also a permanent presence on my blog with a banner in the footer

    4. Facebook: spreading the Thunder via Facebook

    5. Commenter, not lurker on WLTV!

That’s about it, so far. Next on the list:

    6. Get a wine libary TV tattoo, on my forehead

    7. Change my name by deed poll to Gary Vaynerchuk

I sent out Emails to every known relative, friend, coworker, acquaintance, and enemy extolling the virtues of WineLibraryTV.com and Gary Vaynerchuk.
And attached to these emails was a short video clip. I then put this video onto YouTube so it could be watched by the masses. The title of the video is “Watch WineLibraryTV.com”.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OXTeGbInBM

I also put two other WLTV related videos onto YouTube.
New viewers to WLTV may want to check out these videos, that were entered in earlier contests on WLTV.
The first one is titled “WineLibraryTV – The Lost Episode”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6J1NCl51rA

The second one is titled “The Vayniac T-shirt Telethon”

We dyed our dog (Rio) burgandy. It didn’t come out very well – we’ll send Mott a picture. Then we added a WLTV snout-band and took her to the dog park. People from all over came to see Rio and tell us what a beautiful shade of bright red she was – and when they asked about the snout-band we told them about the Thunder Show.

I am spreading the Thunder on my blog (thewellsquozengrape.blogspot.com) and through our wine tasting club “The Well Squozen Grape”. I have gotten everyone in our group watching the show including a wine distributor and a wine retailer who hadn’t heard of it before. I also spread the Thunder to my patients who are kind of impressionable when I have sharp instruments in my hands.

I wish I could have done more, but I was out all this week. I’ve emailed about a dozen friends (those that haven’t started watching already.) However, I didn’t just send everyone the same email. I emailed each person a link to a specific episode where GV reviews either a winery, grape, or region that I know that person enjoys.

I added “ask Gary” App on my facebook page: http://uci.facebook.com/profile.php?id=6029444

I let all my friends know about the show. We have an email list of about 40 people. Not an excessively long list, but with very loyal friends! I recommended them the “train your palate” episode, and the “two-buck vaynerchuck” episode since most friends are still poor grad students.

Finally, my wife and I started putting some of Gary’s lessons into practice, by trying some wines with a variety of fruits. Besides confirming our inability to appreciate most aromas, we had a lot of fun! And we are sharing the video with all our friends and all of you!

    Bill & Wendy Wilcox

    Good Morning Gary,

Wendy and I drove through continuous driving snow from our home in Montreal, Canada… we made it but a hand full of SUV’s in snow banks along the way tells me some did not reach Boston.

We really enjoyed meeting you, Liz, Sasha and the WLTV crew at the Boston Wine Expo. Thanks for your great welcome. Thanks for the hugs and kisses. Thanks for Sasha’s one-on-one tasting tour. Thanks for all of Liz’s time in telling us about herself and her Montreal family connection. Thanks for the great cheese. Thanks for the fantastic swag bag!

We made a lot of instant friends as we went from table to table. The “Bring The Thunder” wrist bands wrapped around our glasses had many, many people looking our way… in envy! We meet and chatted up the WLTV booth to all who would listen and directed scores of couples to your 800 area location… did any every make it there???

One of the popular questions we got was “Why the band around the glass? to which we received several possible answers from our new found friends:
    - “To keep the white wine cool”,
    - “A swirl over flow protector”,
    - “A drip protector”,
    - “A bumper to protect our Boston Wine Expo glasses”,
    - “A marker to recognize our glasses” or,
    - “A promotion for a wine called “Thunder, Lightning, Storm or maybe Bad Weather?”.

If you feel our efforts measure up, we would much appreciate an entry in the “Bring The Thunder” contest… did I hear you whisper two?

From our kitchen table, over low candles, over a fine meal, with as yet untried wine in our glasses and peering out over our now snow covered yard we say, every evening, thanks for the memories.

    Love
    Bill & Wendy

I spread the thunder by telling EVERYONE I know about WLTV. All my friends, co-workers, even strangers. I sent out a bulletin on myspace too. I had a few friends go to the boston wine expo (unfort I couldn’t go) and I told them to seek you out…and they did! Her name was Erin…if you happen to remember her. I watch WLTV on my ipod on the train and anyone who’s appears to be lurking over my shoulder to watch, I stop and tell them about the podcast (if i’m a lurker, does that make them a double lurker? a lurker squared? who knows!). When I go to the wine store, I whip out my ipod and tell the head-wine-honcho “I want that one” and point to the bottle which Mott so gracefully zooms in on :) Lastly, I submitted your website/podcast to bzzagent.com for their frogpond project. They have a really cool word of mouth web site.

We have exchanged email before about the show and how proud I am of
what you are doing and have been able to do so far. As far as this
spreading the Thunder goes, I first got on about a year ago when I
was a pharma sales rep in the city (NYC, like I had to make that
clear) and wanted to know about wine to make better selections at all
the dinners I was doing. I have learned a lot and continue to do so
with each episode you put together. I have since been promoted to a
district sales manager, due in large part to the success of my
business dinners and shear salesmanship (sic). As a rep I called on 170
dermatologists in the NYC metro area and spread the good word then. I am
now based in the South and manage 10reps, each with roughly 150 to 200 doctors. I order the wine at all the dinners I attend and when the conversation starts up about what we are drinking, the good word is spread!
Above all though, and I have said this in previous emails, I have my
Dad very well educated now. Before it was “white/red wine”, now we
    talk grapes, terrior, and vintages.
I thank you for your education and what it has done for me. Give me a
    shot at winning this competition.

We also turned the wristbands into wine koozies it caught like wild fire.

Hey GV, Hope I’m not too late.
    1) I made WLTV license plate frames for my three cars.
    2) I CONTINUE to tell every one of my drinking buddies about your site and vast knowledge.
    3) I help put together a gourmet fundraiser in April that is a Napa wine challenge. With each course, (seven total) we pair a Napa wine AND a similar wine from somewhere else. Then we get to see what we like from the different regions and wineries. Last year we were at 160 serious wine drinking people. This year, I am purchasing a WLTV swag bag to donate as a silent auction item, and I’ll make up a poster promoting the show and the education that comes with it.
Thanks GV, and Mott and everyone at the Lib!

So I have taken it upon myself, for the benefit of his clientèle, to turn him onto the THUNDER SHOW. He started to hem and haw but he had an internet connection going so we logged on and hopefully he’s hooked as I am and all my close friends. Like I said by email, in addition to spreading the thunder at my job (to all my coworkers), in Israel and Holland over the summer (including at Domaine du Castel), and among my family, I poured at the VA Wine Expo at Dulles on Sunday all decked out in my WLTV gear — the shirt, and Wristbands mark 1 and 2. While pouring, no fewer than 15-20 groups had a person who asked about the shirt/wristband. I spread the thunder to somewhere between 45-110 people over the day, and just the ones I spoke to.

Most of them hadn’t had much experience with wine previously. But I’ve turned most of them on to WLTV (and some of the random patrons). For one, I’ve started writing noob reviews of wines on my Facebook and Myspace, though none of my friends will be completely interesting. Oh, and I put up the splash app with WLTV on there.. Hmm.. Oh, put a note in the Wine Cellar (local wine shop) to watch WLTV for wine recommendations. A doctor had put one up by the French wines that they’ll make you live longer, so I figured this would be cool too. ;)

Love the show, I’m watching a few a day trying to get them all choked down. I’m completely new to wine by a couple weeks but I already love it more than any other hobby! This may very well become a passion much like my photography! :D

    Hi Gary,

This is how I’ve “spread the thunder”:

I have a wine group in Brooklyn, The Wine-o Collective, and I constantly tell the group about things I’ve learned on the show and get them to watch episodes.

I have had everyone I know watch the palate-training episode. And, I’d love to get my wine group to do that someday!

I did the Thanksgiving pack with my family and now my dad watches the show. My girlfriend and I did the Christmas pack with her family too!

I comment pretty often on the WLTV site.

I have a link to Wine Library TV on the Wine-O blog: http://www.wineocollective.com/blog/

I also have a link on my own blog: http://www.hewins.org/dhh/

Finally, I watch the show basically every workday as I eat lunch and my coworkers are all asking me about it.

Thanks, Gary! I hope I win.

I just got into WLTV this past month (THANK YOU for still being on!) because someone spread the thunder to me! I LOVE it. When I visit friends, I make them all watch. I’ve even got my mother into it (after I helped with the computer aspect of the whole thing. These new-fangled machines.) In two weeks my roomie and I are spending the day to drive to NJ (which isn’t too bad from PA) just to go to the Wine Library. I’m more excited than when I went to Disneyland.

We have offcial begun a monthly wine tasting party, currently with 8 friends. We have blind tastings, take notes, and also have a Gary Vaynerchuk segment in which we buy a wine that Gary dislikes and taste it along with the episode. It has been a great success and a lot of fun for us and all of our passions for wine continue to flourish with Wine Library TV.

I have spread the thunder by encouraging any and all wine afficionados that I know and meet to tune in and get the GV experience. This includes:

Starting a wine tasting group with 9 friends, none of whom was aware of WLTV. Our biweekly meetings usually involve a discussion of WLTV-realted issues. Last week’s focus was on Albarino due to GV’s constant harping on the stuff.

Inform people in far-flung lands that are wine-challenged to get viewing. WLTV’s Angola, Nigeria, and Norway viewing audience is likely due to me spreading the thunder over there on my work trips.

Convinced several employees of Kermit Lynch that you are not a complete yahoo, and that the show is fun and educational. A couple will now even admit to being regular viewers.

My own personal commitment to continue trying new wines as often as possible, even if it is sweet Riesling.

  415. February 12, 2008

    Cliff and Darcey

    1. Ever since we stumbled across your video-blog (About one year ago now) Darcey and I have been telling every imbiber we know about you; even those who say they don’t like wine are urged by us to watch a show or two in the hopes that they will someday drink GOOD wine, and therefore become wine lovers.
    2. Before long we started posting our own tasting notes on my website: http://www.cliffordjames.org/wine.php, where I have very few links, but the most important one is to WLTV, and I later added your “banner” or whatever you call it to the site, which I like quite a bit. We get lots of visitors, relatively, to the tasting notes we offer and many are happy to have found you through my site.
    3. Within the body of many of our tasting notes we mention Gary Vaynerchuk and WLTV, especially, of course, when tasting a wine you have reviewed on your show!
4.We each created a presence on Facebook and added GV as a “friend.” That’s two of us reaching everyone we know who is also on Facebook.
    5. I (can’t speak for dar on this one) do everything GV asks on Facebook, like joining the “Ask Gary” application, etc.
    6. We both attend wine tastings at two separate wine stores on Fridays and Saturdays for one and just Saturdays for the other. At all three of these weekly sessions we wear our Vayniac wristbands and obnoxiously tell everyone there about you and your show … the more we taste the louder we get!
    7. At work I have three computers on my desk, and on the largest screen Mac I always have the WLTV website up and I often have a group of people gathered around my desk watching your show.
    8. I work at a University where I go into several classrooms to check equipment and I ALWAYS use your video-blog to check audio and video response, and then I keep it up and running in every room I check; it’s anybody’s guess how many folks have learned about you through this avenue! At least a few, I would say!
    9. Finally, at every family gathering I bring my laptop and share your blogs with my family I am one of 8, so with their kids and spouses that is many people); at least one sister now watches you regularly.
    10. Darcey and I order many wines from WineLibrary (well, at least as many as my meager income allows … buy you just wait until I am wealthier!!!), and we often share these bottles with friends, and, because the wine is so freakin’ good, most ask where we have heard about these wines and where they can get them, so …
    11. Finally, I dream about your blog a least once a week, and have multiple out-of-body experiences weekly as well, floating and flying through many dimensions and realities, and in this manner I am able to share the thunder with all sorts of “beings” in other worlds, alternate universes, and other times as well, past and future. In this way I utter your good name to more folks than any other method, entering the collective conscious and unconscious of people corporeal and disembodied, souls yet to be born, and energy-essence-personalities that are omnipresent, guiding those stuck here on the earth plane, whispering into their psyches that they should watch the Thunder show, and that THIS will make their lives better. Those sensitive enough to hear the message will become lifelong Vayniacs. This service is the single-most powerful means of creating a larger and larger group of dedicated fans than all the other combined, and deserves at least three entries into your contest, but of course, Darcey and Cliff leave this totally up to you, our wine heroes at the Wine Library!

I have dispatched 2,617 carrier pidgeons with jumpsticks strapped to their legs to cover a variety of areas in then continental US. On the jumpstick, there is a compendium of WLTV episodes, including 1, 100, 200, 300 and 400. I have also told and emailed everyone I know about WLTV.

    Gary, What up!!

I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Boston Wine Expo this past weekend. You are the man!! Wicked laid back, down to earth…totally awesome. Dude, I also took as many goodie bags as I could and passed them out at a party I went to later on that night. I rang the door bell, as soon as someone answered I yelled BRINGING THE THUNDER BABY!!!! The whole place went silent…LOL. Then I walked in and started passing out the goodie bags that I took earlier from your booth…some fine lookin ladies at your booth I may add. Some people were new to wine and others weren’t. Some heard of the show and others didn’t, but the coolest thing was how they all sported the wrist band as soon as they opened the bag. I thought that was wicked cool. I am definitely a huge fan of the show and wish you much success. I will do my best to continue spreading the word that The Vayniacs and Vayner Nation is here to stay.

PS: You were the first booth I went to on Saturday during the expo. Forget Chataneauf Du Pape, Bordeaux, Italy etc… Wine Library TV had to be the first stop. You rock! Keep kickin’ ass with your BIG ass glass!!

I’m trying to spread it as much as possible. I have sent the WLTV link to all my friends, and I wear my WLTV wristband to every wine event that I attend. My dad is a pilot, and I could try to get him to fly a WLTV banner above the Reds games this summer. That might cost me a lot though. We’ll see. Keep up the thunder, and I will do my best to spread it!

Well, this will be pretty weak compared to some, but at our last get together at a friends house, we brought up the thunder show and watched the episodes about the wine cellars. Since then, a couple of the guys have said they have been following the show now.I also got my son to start watching and he lives in Boston, and did get to meet Gary at the wine Expo!

In the three short weeks that I’ve been watching the show, I’ve already convinced my friends and a few colleagues to tune in by talking about the show and linking it up on facebook. More notably, however, I’ve been talking with people down at the local wine store – some who had seen the show once or twice, some who had read about it and others who had not even heard of it. It’s been particularly interesting to see people’s reactions when I talk about the show during our Friday evening gatherings. I’ve talked with the store owners, the staff (one has already been watching), and in a number of instances other customers have asked for the web address after they’ve been drawn them into the conversations.

Actually, I’ve found that it’s not too hard to arouse people’s curiousity about the show when I display some real passion for the tastes of wine (bring the thunder), when I use this more accessible language in describing the wines (trust my PAL) and when I reference your encouragement for doing both of the above. And now, with this focus on the many different grape varieties, it’s been even easier :-)

    Gary,
First off, CCK(crazy college kid) here.
Spreading the thunder for me has consisted of showing everyone I see the show. Living in a dorm has made it possible to spread it to a lot of people. I made some posters and stuck them up in key spots around campus promoting WLTV. I’ve made posts on blogs, added the badges and widgets to my site and facebook. I’m in the WLTV groups on facebook, i’m a friend of yours on facebook, and i’m a fan of you on their as well. But the way I think has helped the most is by printing a giant poster using http://www.blockposters.com/ and put that in my window. My window is right on the intersection of two of the busiest roads in the city, so i’m hoping people walking by and stopped at the lights are getting the thunder. Thanks for all the great shows.
    Chris

    SPREADING THE THUNDER
    1. I have emailed my friends who share the enjoyment of wine a link to the show and a short summary of my enthusiasm (addiction). Only about 20 people here, but they are all wine’os and a few serious ones.
    2. I created a small tabletop card using the wine library tv logo with website on the Feed page and have put it on our bar at our wine bar. We have a self serve “enomatic” self-serve system with 80 wines dispensed and more by the glass and bottle. Fairly good customer counts. We seem to draw the type of people who would enjoy this show so it is a natural. This is tied into our fine dining restaurant.

Go to our website and click on “Directory” and then “AMUSE” wine bar to get an idea of what we do. Still trying to get them to le me add a link in our website, so not quite yet.

What a great contest! Thanks for hosting it…now on to the entries:

I have a good friend who manages an upscale restaurant in Nashville about your video blog and he was in love at first sight. We’re both impressed with your reviews and your delivery. It’s made his job of stocking the wine basement so much easier, and earned me a free meal!

Pleae continue to produce your great show and I will continue to enjoy it immensely. Anytime I come in contact with another win connoisseur, your show will be on the tip of my tongue along with your latest recommendation.

    Cheers!

I have emailed my entire contact list about the show and told them Gary and Mott are radool (or coolio) and they should watch it. I also posted the url for WLTV in the back of my SUV so when I am cruising down the streets of Boston the peeps can see it and spread the thunder!

    GV,
I’m the wine bully in my group, at least I used to be. I started watching in the double digits and have been hooked. Now all my friends are into the GV. They won’t let me tell them what they like any more. I hosted a christmas pack party, have shown you on Conan to everyone who comes over. I’m spreading the message one person at a time. You better hope I live to 100. Maybe the wine will help with that!

    Mr. Gary V:

Your show has helped bridge the gap….I have loved wine for so long but felt like that stinky kid in the corner around friends and family because no one had the appreciation for the grape (or maybe they were just too afraid to try/explore wine). No idea. Anywho- NOW, b/c of your show- I have convinced my peeps to have a ‘training your palate’ partay! Holler! My b day was a wine tasting party and the word of “sniffy sniff” is spreading like the ‘bouquet’ of your stinky gym sock. Living in NYC, I also take the ’sophisticated pub crawl’ which is mapping out the WINE tastings in the city and making an afternoon of it. Nice. A group has now formed and we chat about the Thunder Show. I loved it. Thank you, Gary for your ‘work’-Like you, I have an opinion on every wine- good thing there are a couple thousand I have yet to experience. Salud!

I started a Wine appreciation society — Very Unofficial — which Gary Vaynerchuk is honorary President of. We meet occasionnally to drink wine, talk politics and watch WLTV.

All those people wear their UBER COOL WLTV t-shirts! Thanks again!

We sent you a super fan letter, did you receive it? Trinity College is full of Vayniacs! (and who converted them? me!)

So that’s it! Because of me, you now have a whole bunch of fans who cannot legally drink wine in your country (but can in their!).

    Gary,

I have told everyone I know about you. It’s gotten to the point that during a conversation I say “Oh did I tell you about this new show I’m totally addicted to – ” and they interrupt me to say, “Yes, Jess, Gary, the wine guy, you told us about him.” I also posted a blurb about you on my myspace page…that goes out to 53 of my peeps, winos and non-winos. I didn’t do it to get in the contest, but since you’re having one, hey, count me in.

Oh, and my family knows all about you too. I’m bringing them the Minervois you recommended when I go up to visit them next month. I can’t wait to try it!

Cheers, Gary. P.S. I’m a busy college student, so this is (I swear) the ONLY show I watch religiously. And I dream about the wine colection I’ll have some day when I’m out of college MAKING money, and not spending it. Ahhh, good dreams.

I spread the thunder at work. I started a Friday wine club at work. Thats right! Everyone shows up to my office at 5pm on Fridays and we drink wine. I put up episodes of wine library tv on my computer and we learn, laugh and drink. It brings us together like a family and people who never knew about the thunder show are now quoting GV. People at work walk around speaking in duplicate like I do (aka sniffy sniff).

OKay, just had a mandatory movie night with my co-workers (don’t ask). We were to have pizza with the movir. Cool, I say I’ll bring some wine. I brought a verdejo a greco di tufo and a syrah. Told them all about the thundershow and why I chose the wines. Much to my surprise the tufo and the verdejo were almost gone! I would have sworn this crowd would embrace the white with pizza so quickly!! Wooo-hooo! Change, it can happen, even with a bunch of opera singers!!! Hope this gets me another name in the pot! Thunder, Spread it!!

Spread the thunder that’s what it’s all about!
1.- I’ve been spreading with my family telling them how cool gary is and my family is huge i mean at least 200 id say about 250
2.-I sent an email with the link of tv.winelibrary..com to all the students in my school witch is quite huge it is one of the most recognized schools in Mexico (ITESM). (There are like 1500 people in my campus so thats 1500 mails i had to send)I had to talk with the principle to get all the mails and I actually tought him in to the thunder show.
3.- I wrote on the corner of all of my college exams the winelibrary link and draw a thunder.
4.- I made a wine club called Vino vanyacks were we get together and have the same wines yo tasted and compare your comments wile seeing the episode on a big screen.
5.- I’ve set tv.winelibrary.com as the home page of all the computers that get to my hands.

So 1st off love the show. I have a website http://www.iqmz.com its basically a homepage that anyone can use. It has all your need to have sites. it has been up for a few months and I have had you on it for the last 2, but recently I bumped you to the top of the list in your category… above you tube and revision3. Well as of right now there are 28 hundred people that use it as there start page. More and more are finding their way to it every day. So I hope that they are finding their way to you at some point during their browsing experience.
2nd I bought a 30 bottle wine chiller for my fiancé and I have loaded it with 30 of your top choices. Our old one broke before turkey day and I have been waiting for this day to give her a new one. We watch your show together often and I’m sure with this present…. she will spread some Thunda lovin my way.. and spread it at work too all her friends she’s a teacher and you know how they talk! So Consider me a Thunda Spreada.. and
3rd I will be spreading it buy writing Wine Library TV (your web address) on every box I send out I work for UPS and I will mostly use stickers because I can’t write that fast! Thanks again for tones of enjoyment.. LOVE THE SHOW.. you keep teaching we will keep learning!

Happy Valentine’s Day ever one drink up be merry!

I tell wine merchants, wholesalers, and wine makers about your show Gary.
Whenever I am at a tasting, at a wine store or getting introduced through my friends in the trade (I am not, but have many friends who are)I tell them about this smart young kid who has a palate, an attitude, and has been pretty accurate for me when we both taste the same thing.

I let them know you are BIG, and they better start watching.

I help spread the thunder by voting and writing reviews of WLTV in Itunes which help new people find WLTV in wine search by getting votes and frequent reviews. I will encourage all vayniacs to write and rate WLTV revies in itunes. I always give WLTV 5 star review in Itunes.

I’ve been speading the thunder for years. But my most recent effort has been to email price comparisons from WL and Wine.com (WL ALWAYS wins!), to the diehard Wine.com shoppers I know. At least 20 of them are now shopping at WL.

First, I have to give props to 3 Wine Guys, who tipped me off on your show, Gary, about a month ago. So I’m a bit of a WLTV virg, but, in addition to my lame-o everyday “You gotta watch WLTV – look he’s making Conan eat dirt and socks – look he’s bringing ABA fashion (wristbands) back and will sport a ‘fro any episode now” – I’m a professor and I decided to dominate our deadly faculty meetings with WLTV. I’m going to show episode #148, which, as a Vikes fan & MN native, is your BEST STUFF (Lars rules!). It’s not much, it’s highly inappropriate, it’s a small step, but this audience is starving for something to think about other than scheduling Fall classes, a report from the – I kid you not – Committee on Committees, and other such deadly deadly stuff. I also added a link on my website, because you, and a little bit of bored-to-death pointyheaded professors, are changing the wine world…

  442. February 14, 2008

    DavidB

I have introduced my mother-in-law to wine and WLTV. Now you would think this was just a little thing; however, my mother-in-law is from India and she talks like no one else on the planet. Within minutes she was on the phone to India and you can bet the house that before long the Vanyernation will increase exponentially due to the crushing influence of the Indian population and their appetite for all things American! You do ship to India right?

  443. February 14, 2008

    Jaybird

I have read some great ideas and was feeling a little guilty… But I have been a loyal Vayniac from the beginning (well since episode 30ish). My major contribution has been just by making WLTV a part of my wine world. I truly express my support with friends and others I meet while out in the wine community. Not because I want to win an iphone or a bottle of wine (that is some good motivation though) but because GV has gave so much of his time that it is the least I can do to give a little back to him. Also bottom line is I enjoy WLTV!
I do have a WLTV shirt, and a widget on my myspace blog.

OK. Here’s the little bit I’ve done to spread the thunder:
-Bought the Christmas pack, watched the episode, and did the tasting with my family. My son’s girlfriend said “He’s scaring me” but hung through to the end. It’s OK, she thinks we’re crazy, too.
-Sent out a group email to “Potential Vayniaks” with a link to WineLibraryTV, gave a gentle warning (keeping the above comment in mind) encouraged them to watch more than one ep, and to please send links to 10 plus of their friends/family asking them to watch and send links also…
-Wrote a review on iTunes, since I get the podcast to keep my time on my husband’s work computer to a reasonable limit. In the process informed one cranky reviewer and everyone else that all the 5-star reviews are coming from loyal watchers of WineLibraryTV, not from the podcaster, and called it my daily educational insanity break. Which it is.

Beyond that, my next project in between snow/ice storms and family obligations is to make a bumper sticker with the website address on it. Now, since I drive a ‘91 Honda Civic this will either be incredibly unimpressive for people and they’ll ignore it, or so incongruous they’ll log on because of that, or, worst case scenario, they won’t be able to see down as low as my bumper from their SUV’s (or any car that sits higher than 10″ off the ground) and they’ll miss it entirely. I will also set about convincing my husband the contractor to put it on his box truck once I get it made. Maybe if I buy WLTV T-shirts for him and our oldest son (who works w/him) to wear… Hmm, I’ll work on that.

    Hey,
This show is totally awesome, not only changing the Wine World, but a lot of ideas related to viral marketing. There are lots of ways that we, at the Walker House, are bringing some serious thunder.

First, all of our guests at the Walker House get an intro to WineLibrary TV, since we do serve some serious wines, sans the Oak Monster.

Second, all of our friends (more than 2!) are hearing about WLTV, plus the WL site. Very rad in relation to a site being interactive as opposed to just a library.

Third, we’ve probably alienated some friends, but had more than a few laughs, with watching a variety of WLTV episodes that really brings some humor, new ideas and serious fun!

Fourth, I am spreading a bit more thunder with my graduate students and business consultees vis a vis taking a look at Gary and WLTV and having them serious think about ways that they can utilize a video blog to communicate, impact marketing, and change the landscape of their businesses, as well as schools,

Fifth, my sons (3) think I’m nuts, but love it, when I email them to check out the latest rad show.

Sixth, I’ve taken podcasts and downloads of WLTV on a recent trip to Taipei, talked with people in the group, about WLTV, and even had a group of Chinese students at Vanung University checking out WLTV to learn how to speak English the Gary V way. They got a kick out of the Oak Monster and other Gary slang.

I am nearly twice Gary’s age, but believe that it’s possible for old dogs like me to learn new tricks via WLTV.

I have worked in the wine industry for the past several years and thus have many friends that are in the retail and wholesale industry. Last year some good friends opened up a wine shop in a very “up and coming” area of Nashville and were in need of knowledgeable staff to help them get off the ground. My wife was traveling during the week so I agreed to spend a few nights at the wine shop after work to help out. Then we decided to build our first home and the extra paycheck was nice. Then we found out that we were going to have our first child and the extra money was exceptionally nice. The wine shop is doing great and the artsy, music industry, young, hip residents have really supported our efforts. The reason that this is relavent to you is that during those increasingly rare slow times I have the current, and older episodes of the “Thunder Show” playing on the computer not being used as a register. I cannot tell you how many customers have come in to buy wine and left 13, 18, 21, 32 minutes later after watching an episode from the other side of the counter. On more than one occasion the customers have even forgotten to buy wine after having spent their time learning about the sniffy-sniff, etc. I have to admit that not everyone is an instant fan but, far more often than not they walk out with tv.winelibrary.com writen on the back of their receipt. Hopefully in some small way we are helping to “Bring the Thunder”.

Forcing everyone I know to “sniffy sniff” and “give it a whirl”. Loudly proclaiming the virtues of trusting your palate and trying wine that otherwise would not have been thought of. Ordering wines from wineries I see on WLTV and telling them that they better thank Gary V.

It may be a small way but i told my boss about Wine Library TV on road trip and got him into it. It has helped me because we have something to talk about and relate to each other on. LOVE LOVE LOVE the show…..especially when you say a wine “sucks” I work at a liquor store in a mid level town in northern WI…..when we have wine tastings the presenters say “this is a lovely wine scored 94…..” I say it tastes like vinegar and they laugh. But it is TRUE!!!!!!
Anyway, I made up a poster at the checkout and have everyone who purchases wine look at the website and say “check this out: it tells it true—spread the thunder”
again, love love love the site……

I’ve long been encouraging my friends to watch the show, but as part of the contest I’ve tried to take it a step farther and have been challenging friends to games of Scrabble on Facebook. If I win, they have to watch an episode of my choosing of Wine Library TV, and if they win, I buy them a bottle of wine and we split it…win-win.

I am in the wine business as a sales associate and I spread the thunder by wearing my wristband, and telling almost everyone I sell wine to log on and don’t lurk. Get involved with wine expand your palate try new stuff, you might actually enjoy it. Boom the next you know the bolt comes down and strikes you good, and your out of Cali winedom. My passion is what drives me and GV is the best reinforcer of said passion. Changing the wine world one bottle at a time.

Well, that was easy! I emailed all my friends and asked them to watch Friday’s episode for a great recommendation on New York Gewurz and see a hot chick in a Sabres jersey.

Thunder! I spread some Thunder by commenting on itunes. I also shared ipod episodes with curious fellow passengers on the ferry. Our 1200-passenger boat is broken and they have us crammed onto a couple of 149-person boats. Great way to meet your neighbors, and now some of them are thundering too.

Oh yeah, last night I ordered an “adult beverage” from the galley while tuning in. That means I had an airplane size bottle of Turning Leaf served complete with a plastic cup full of ice….

YO, GV, if we keep spreading the thunder we can keep getting our name in the draw, right!

I sell little hard to find Hello Kitty items and other Japanese novelty items on ebay and have started to put “Spread the Thunder: Watch tv.winelibrary.com” slips along with letters of appreciation to our customers in the shipments. So we’re spreading the thunder in America, Taiwan, Korea, all over the glizzobe.

    Hey Gary!
I just stumbled upon your show 4 days ago on an internet search for info on beer,(great show by the way episode #236!) which as of late has caught my interest over the juice. I’m not sure why I’d been losing interest in wine, but watching your show the last few days and some of the archived episode’s, has really helped rekindle my interest in wine, so BIG UPS man! I’ve been spreading the thunder at the restaurant where I work in San Francisco to all the staff including the Somme’s and just about anyone who will listen. We have a weekly wine class every Friday so I made sure to tell everyone to check it out, especially the uninitiated. I also hit up itunes with a glowing review of which I meant every word.
p.s. I also friended you up on myspace but no add yet. What gives?

Hey Gary, this is my second bring the thunder email, this one is fairly weak but hopefully it will get a second name in the box. I emailed Jay Mcdonald, the owner of EIEIO winery your the link where you tasted his wine. Some what quirky but very cool guy. Some of his other Pinots are awesome. He will clearly spread the thunder of your show since you liked his wine. So, maybe a name in the box by proxy??

Hi Gary! I stumbled across WLTV aka The Thunder Show while searching for new podcasts in iTunes in about October 2007.
    1) By November 2007, I could talk about nothing else. I annoyed my boyfriend by wanting to watch not only that day’s episode every night, but by wanting to watch the entire archive (by December 2007, my enthusiasm finally snagged him and now he’s hooked, too).
    2) I told all my law school friends about the show, especially the ones who are into wine at least a little bit. Then I discovered that you were on facebook. I friended you up, joined the “Ask Gary” app, and put the “Spread the Thunder” application on my profile page, sending invitations to people as long as it worked (which, by the way, it doesn’t all the time).
    3) I also currently have as my status: Carly is spreading the Thunder: go to http://tv.winelibrary.com. I will be leaving that up for a while.
    4) I currently write a blog, which I have had for 2 or 3 years, but which I hadn’t been using until your widget contest. I put your widgets up on my page (they’re still there), then thought…duh! I should write in my blog! So now, thanks to you, I have been regularly updating my blog about wine, food, baking, cooking, restaurants, and general new life experiences. Check it out at http://bringtoaboil.blogspot.com! I also have mentioned you (and plugged you) in many blog entries. If you need the exact one, please let me know. Right now, my readership is not very widespread, but I’m constantly trying to get people to read my blog.
    5) I will post a link to Wine Library TV in my gchat status (an instant messaging service) to get everyone on my gmail contact list to check it out (a common thing in my circle of friends!).

Thank you for everything Gary. Whether this contest existed or not, I’d still be spreading the Thunder. You are too inspiring to keep to myself.

I sent this email out Saturday morning to everyone on my list at work. That’s over 500 wine peeps. That should “bring some thunder”!

Hello fellow wine lovers. For the past five months I’ve been watching a wine show on the internet that I have to tell you about. The show is called Wine Library TV, hosted by Gary Vaynerchuck. Gary and his father own Wine Library, a large wine shop in New Jersey. Monday through Friday Gary spends about 20 minutes tasting through several wines and telling us about them. He is very entertaining and provides a lot of good wine knowledge. I’ve never been one to sit at the computer for too long but this show is infectious and a must see for all wine lovers. The show started in 2006and this coming Monday will be the 400th episode! If you have a chance this weekend, watch through a couple of the recent episodes and be sure to tune in Monday evening (usually posts around 6pm) for the 400th episode. If you are interested in learning more about wine or just want to have more fun with your wine, you have to watch this show.

On a related note, I have started my own wine blog. I will be posting my own wine reviews as often as possible, with the goal of doing it daily. When possible I am including industry ratings as well. Below are two links; one to Wine Library TV and the other my website. If the links don’t work, just copy and paste them into your browsers address bar. Enjoy.

Okay GV and friends (love ya Mot) here’s what I got. I am a server/bartender/ have a window cleaning business on the side. So to all of my window cleaning store front regulars that enjoy wine and to new-be wine drinkers that I meet nightly at work, I hand out business cards with wine library tv info. I also sent the “What GV and wine library tv is all about” epsd to my entire email list.

That’s it. That’s all. A very small token of appreciation from a new Vayniak.

Another way I’ve been trying to spread the thunder is with my very own tea blend on adagio.com! I made a blend of tea based on descriptions of wines that Gary has tasted on WLTV. If you want to buy some, or just take a look, check out http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=532

Good luck spreading the thunder everybody!

I am spreading the thunder, Facebook-style.

Wine goes great with a little literature and there’s no better book than a face book, right? ;)

I penned a small blog on how you, GV, are changing the wine world, and how we’re all having fun doing it.

I added You, Gary Vay-ner-chuck to be my friend on facebook. Now all my exclusive close and personal friends that make up the entire portion of my friends-list will say “Who the hell is that guy?” And therefore, my portion of people in this world will ‘feel the heat’, and potentially become a true Vayniac.

Keep up being the ultimate wine blogger, and I will forever help you spread your love for the wine world.

I’ve been telling friends, family, co-workers, cats, dogs, pigs… you name it about your show! This is the most entertaining way to learn about wine and I tell them that even if they don’t care at all about wine they should at least check out the episode where you train your pallate. Thanks for all you do Gary.

I love WineLibrary TV and to spread the word I have been taking a bottle of wine from recent episodes to every party I go to. Then when the CKC crews show up I start talking about the show. I’ve talked to A few people who have since become regular viewers.

What I’ve been doing to spread THE WORD is to have wine tastings along with play-backs of the THUNDER SHOW (such as what we did for the Christmas show.)
I’ve done this twice so far with a group of 6. It’s so great to be able to taste the wine you are tasting at the same time and hear your ideas and our ideas and how we seem to be growing. Thanks for staying around.

Gary, you know I’ve done my part since I’ve been with you since the beginning. While I haven’t done anything spectacular recently, that’s because I’ve already spread the thunder. 1) I’ve e-mailed everyone I know who likes wine and got most of them hooked on the Thunder Show 2) I where my Schwag to wine events quite often and when someone asks about the Schwag, I extol the virtues of WLTV. 4) I have indoctrinated my softball league buddies (who are usually beer drinkers but they’re hooked as well on WLTV) 5) and, finally, I have posted links to my favorite episodes on the internal electronic bulletin board at NASA where I work. Oh, did I mention Facebook? Yeah, I spread the Thunder there as well. This June when I take my trip to the Rhone with Mat Garretson, I promise to where my WLTV Schwag there as well as we tour some of the great Northern Rhone wine houses. I wonder Chave will say… :-)

Not only have I told everyone and anyone who has an interest in wine, but I have also hosted tastings based on episodes. I watch each episode and when I find one I’m really interested in, I send out an invite to all my friends to join me and Gary to for a tasting! We watch the show and taste it ourselves and see the comparisons.

To spread the Thunder I have been telling my mother, her fiance, and their friends about the show. They are huge wine drinkers. My mothers fiance holds the same beliefs as GV about wine, so he especially liked finding a kindred spirit.

    Gary;
I am the sommelier at The Five Fishermen in Halifax,Nova Scotia, CANADA!!!!!
We are a casual fine dining restaurant with SPECTACULAR cuisine, wines from
“A to Z ” and a staff “FAMILY” that you would want to change your last name for!!!!!

You nailed it; as I have only tuned in to you since the Globe And Mail
issue. Every day I tell our people about your Show. The other day as I was walking through the kitchen, I overheard one staffer ask another if he had watched the THUNDER show last night, and I said to myself “Y E S ” !!!!!!!!

In Nova Scotia, the current Sommelier Students ate studying France and to be
specific Bordeaux and Burgundy–as though YOUR episodes 410 & 411 are not right on “Q” !!

I think universally, “tasters” are inhibited / struggle to come up with
descriptor words, and I tell them ” WATCH THE THUNDER SHOW”!!!!

You are what the wine world needs right now—don’t change a thing!!!

    Cheers!!!
    Avery.

We feature WLTV Episode #346 right on our front page, each and every day since it first aired. With over *FIFTY-FIVE-THOUSAND views*, Episode was the single most episode that *we* could find. We call that some serious Thunder Spreading Luvin’ if you ask us. WineLibrary also features in our marketing materials and throughout our website, making The Wine Spies the #1 Gary Vaynerchuk shrine. We love you, Gary! Deep respect from Agent Red and the entire Covert Mission crew.

Alrighty, this is my third submission in spreading the thunder because the time was extended. I live a very secluded life, and I was mentally pouring over how I can spread the thunder more. So I decided to do something simple, yet meaningful. I gave Wine Library TV a THUMBS UP on my stumbleupon.com Firefox plug in. Now people with similar interests will surely see that I approve of this beautiful internet wine movement.

    Every little bit counts.

    Cheers!

I am a waiter at a 5 star restaurant in Hawaii. I talk with a lot of people about wine. I get to sell a lot of wine. My favorite part of talking juice is mentioning your show. It’s surprising how interested people are in seeing your show. I mean I know I love to watch, it’s just surprising how many others are aching to have someone teach them things about wine. I never realized how many wine drinkers there are out there searching for a little guidance. Incuding myself. Thanks again for reminding me to trust my pal, and thanks again for keeping the thunder alive. I’ll keep telling anyone who will listen, and even some who won’t.

I have been spreading the THUNDER from the get go. I have been more grass roots than the technology inclined people, telling everyone who would listen about “my wine guy” in the dirty jerz.
I also feel like I have been spreading the thunder by sharing all my new WL purchases with friends and family. That and trying new wines with them all the time.
Although not as “creative” as others, I really feel that I have opened or expanded peoples “pals” around me.
Thanks to WLTV for being a fun and informative medium for the love of all things wine!

Right now, I tell my friends at work about WLTV – All my relatives – People I meet everywhere. But I’d like to broaden the approach, to really make your message more visible and permanent to a wider public.

I’m a teacher and I would love to work with you in developing a wine-type, learning book that would use links to your episodes(online) or a CD/DVD (from the jacket) to teach a broader community of lovers of wine… Most of the wine ‘course’ type books I’ve read have had that nose-in-the-air pretentious approach (except for Oldman’s, which is useful but only so much). Your book would be a new, vibrant, energetic, passionate (like you!) book that would grab a wide audience that could tap into what you have had to offer over the years and episodes!

I’d help you organize/edit the book (or in educational jargon, ‘curriculum’) and a whole, new generation of Vayniaks would be born. Plus, it could become the ‘gift that keeps on giving,’ since thousands of people would buy the book in bookstores and check it out of libraries around the country and the world.

Spreading the Thunder, now and into the future!

Gary, I wrote you a few weeks ago about talking to a Sommelier in Vegas. So what I have been doing is really hitting hard the Sommelier’s I met when I’m out. Have hit up pretty hard a couple in the past week – almost pissed one guy off – who cares. Most are pretty receptive. Also hit up the folks at the liquor store I shop at – Liquor Mart very big, 40,000 square ft – very popular here in Boulder CO. Large wine selection. Going back this weekend to see if they followed up.

I was in Paris, France, London England, Brighton England, Edinburgh Scotland, Dublin Ireland, Cambridge England, and every person I saw I told about the amazing online podcast about wine. Not only have I emailed my friends and family and coworkers links to this site as well as recommended the podcast, I have hosted tastings with friends and family based on the episodes. Whenever I watch an episode and I’m really intrigued by the wines, I get everyone together, get the wines, and we watch the episode while tasting. We compare our thoughts and palates to what Gary had to say and see what we think. Great wine, great friends, and WineLibrary TV always proves to be an AWESOME time!

Hey GV, I’ve been thinking hard about spreading the thunder and I’ve got some ambitious plans that may take some time to come to fruition so I’ll just give you the rundown of what I’ve done so far: 1)I am a facebook WLTV powersupporter. I’ve friended you up, and I’ve got all your apps. 2)My blog (http://closet.badgerpad.com)has the WLTV badge.
3)I made a blog post about the Thunder show. 4) I’ve invited everyone I know to cork’d. 5) I’ve told all my friends and family. My mom thinks you’re a little overexcited but one of her friends imports french wines and he got in touch with me about the show. The Thunder is spreading…I’ve witnessed it. Looked for more to come in the future, but for now I offer these 5 things very humbly. Thanks for doing what you do GV.
