Gary, Twin Cities, Minneapolis/St. Paul are screaming for you! Huge Barnes and Noble at the hugest mall—Mall of America. This would be a major score if you could get on their calendar for a book signing.

BTW there are several other enormous BN stores in the area but I think the Mall of America would probably be the biggest draw.

Gary, for Portland, try to book it at Powell’s Bookstore… it’s the largest independently owned book store in the country and it rules. Also, are we going to drink some wine when you’re here, OR WHAT?? My home built cellar should be done by then!

I look forward to meeting you at Wine & Food Week in The Woodlands (not Houston)with my friends George Taber & Daniel Schuster. I write a weekly column (WINE WALK in The Courir) and a monthly column (TEXAS WINE WALK in People Scene Magazine). Your zaniness reminds me of myself at times. You can’t take life too seriously or you will end up being boring. I will take you guys to catch some real BBQ when you are here, like 15-inch long ribs.

How about a Denver stop? you’re probably flying through anyway. The Tattered Cover bookstores (now 3 of them) are the top independent book stores here in town. Make it happen and I’ll arrange the post-game food/drinks. We’ll talk a little wine + fantasy sports – basketball and baseball…

    Gary,

Come to New Mexico! Cool wine scene with great local wineries. Best “New” Mexican food anywhere! It brings the thunder!!!! (nothing Beano can’t fix)

I program two of the six radio stations in our cluster and I invite you to be our guest on the top rated morning shows in New Mexico. You’d reach Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos and everywhere in between.

We have connections to book stores, wine shops\restaurants, T.V. stations, HOTELS, hundreds of thousands of listeners, etc. We would make it a HUUUUUGE and thunderous event. You tell me when my friend. Let’s do it!

Actually, Rancho Cucamonga, CA – one of the original California Appellations (can you say dinosaur-vine Zin?) Not too far from the Ontario International Airport (need a ride?). Get your tastebuds out here before it gets too damn hot and smoggy. I can even arrange for a restaurant (a Microbrewery no less – KILLER steaks) that would be more than happy to host a tasting/book signing. Awesome microbrew to clean the palate after a few good wines!

  68. May 7, 2008

    Katie

Psyched that you’ll be down in the Woodlands (it’s the greater Houston area, but not REALLY Houston, for the record) in June. The Woodlands is really nice that year, though kind-of hot. Still, any chance of a meet-up or something that *isn’t 21+*? Yes, the minimum age for alcohol is 21, but I’m pretty sure that there’s no minimum age for podcasts. :)

    Mark Manning

Wassup with Seattle? My little list of local bookstores insiders is way out of date, or I’d see if I could find a venue. But surely there’s got to be enough Vayniacs out here to make a signing happen. Doesn’t anyone reading this happen to know anybody who works at Barnes & Noble in University Village? Or University Bookstore in the University District? Or Elliott Bay Bookstore in Pioneer Square? Or Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park? Wow, I bet Third Place would LEAP at the chance to host GaryV! If they host it, I will come, to paraphrase Field of Dreams.

  74. May 8, 2008

Gary, don’t give up on Seattle yet. It was great to meet you at Taste WA, you gotta come back. I think the problem is that the originally scheduled date for Seattle is Memorial Day weekend. Lots of people, me included, will be out of town. On another date, I am definitely there (+1). :)

Anybody else in NYC who was planning on going to the book signing tomorrow hear that it was moved to Wednesday? I was just at the Park Ave. Borders store to pick up two copies of the book and saw a sign saying that it was on the 14th, not the 13th like the book tour site says. I’d like to hear this from Gary, or someone affiliated with the book tour, cause I would not want to miss it, thinking that its the 14th, when it is still tomorrow.

    Sorry about the rant :)

Puh-lease make an appearance in Seattle. You are always immensely entertaining, and I for one, would love to have to opportunity to meet and greet with you.
