Have you wondered how we produce WLTV? Have you asked, I wonder what kind of camera they’re using? How do they make the videos look so clear. Well fear not, all of your questions will be answered here.
Camera:
We use a Sony HDR-FX1000 and shoot in 1080i.
Microphone attached to the camera:
Sony ECM-MSD1
Lights:
This is how the lighting is set up.
Computer used to edit the show:
So now you’ve seen the hardware used to produce WLTV lets look at the software. An episode of the show is imported from the camera into a program called iMovie. We use iMovie 6HD. We know that there are other solutions available for the Mac but iMovie 6 HD works just fine for us. In iMovie we add in the titles and wine names and have our working copy of the episode. After all of the editing is done we’re ready to export our final copy out. We export our file out using the 3ivx codec. We use a screen size 640×360 encode at 29.97 fps at a data rate of 800 KB/s. The audio format the video is encoded is AAC with a sample rate of 48,000 kHz and a bit rate of of 128 KB/s.
After the file has encoded it is then uploaded to Viddler. Once the file is done uploading to Viddler it is then converted to a flash file by Viddler. Using the embed code that is provided by Viddler for the episode that embed code is placed into a WordPress post on our severs. So the video is hosted by Viddler and all the text you see is hosted on WLTV. After all the necessary html is added to the Wordpres post the episode is launched and a new show for the day is born.
