More average wines and hard to make a captivating show as a result. There is, however, one of GV’s best expressions at 8.24, so that’s fun in itself

Always been impressed with what KJ can do with consistency/quality in bulk. That’s an admirable winemaking skill that should not be overlooked. QOTD – Heading to Santa Fe. Looking forward to trying some of the NM bubbly.

Blackstone is one of those wines that started my interest with wine. When first starting, it helped me get my “sea legs”.

Kind of predictable reaction to those selections (with the exception of Blackstone – 67?! – maybe that bottle was sitting in your hot NJ car all day before you popped it…) I never thought that Blackstone ever deserved that low of a rating. Other than that, I appreciated that this show and the Aussie show were shorter in length – it makes them much more enjoyable to watch. Wait… that sounded harsh – I appreciate the shows GV – no matter how long or how much sports you talk – keep em coming!

QOTD: I have some Southern Italian wines (Primitivo & Negroamaro) that I need to evaluate this weekend – really looking forward to it.

You’re either rich or you’re crazy (or both) – DON’T OPEN IT!

qotd: Dyin to try a wine from Reunion. That Island territory owned by France a few hundred miles off the coast of Madagascar that’s listed as #70 in top wine areas.

  • Surprised about the KJ. I will have to go and retaste when I have the chance.

QOTD: Ideally one with a varietal I have yet to have. Or if not, an untasted appellation.

Good episode, will try the Kendall Jackson, it is around $9.00 here.

QOTD – Since I was working all weekend, there was no wine in my future, but I am patiently waiting for the opportunity to get a Smith-Woodhouse Colheita 1986 port. Love that wine.

  • i LOVE this. and your style.

  • QOTD: 1966 Chateau Lafite Rothschild

  • So far Bogle chard has been the really bright spot of the bunch.

QOTD: This weekend. ANY WINE 🙂

“When you do 900 shows you got to play with yourself.”

“I want to see if you can get low.”

“I don’t know why I’m showing you my chest hair.”

A very interesting episode indeed. Could almost have its own highlight reel.

You did your job very well this week, Gary, you hit all of the major supermarket types, the chards and the Aussies and the Cabs. Bummer nothing hit it out of park, but what do you expect?

    Priorat or Chilean pinot noir.

  • “Reminds me of something that I don’t remember.” LOL
    Way to go Gary !

  • Whole Foods market I believe does not have Blackstone nor Kendall Jackson. They may have Frei Brothers though, I’m not sure.
