Cool. I’ve had some super Tuscan styled wines but never anything outside of Bolgheri. See Gary! Still relevant and improving peoples’ palates and still forcing me to explore, years later. Awesome stuff! On to the next vid…..

    Gary and Winelibrary staff,

One frustrating thing about this episode was the audio. Most of Gary’s commentary was soft and he sounded distant. Also the sound of the camera person breathing was picked up by the mic several times throughout the show.

Otherwise, great info and keep up the great work! Being a bargain shopper myself, It’s reasurring to hear you recommend wines that are afforable but still high in quality.

I was a big fan of the 2001 Mazzei Serrata and considered it a great find for about $20.00. I tried the 2002 and found it to be as complex and interesting, but very dry and a bit tight at that time ( about 6 months ago). I still think you are point on about value and where it will be in several years. Good accurate info.

PS this is a great service to your customers, I really enjoyed the shiraz ranking. I often bring 4 wines to dinner with our friends and we enjoy putting them in order just as you did in the last episode. Bravo!!

I’ve watched all the episodes and think this is great. I wish more retailers did this. Keep up the good work.

I agree with the first comment on here about the audio. The heavy breathing from behind the camera was very distracting. Putting a microphone in front of Gary would be a great help I bet!

It was hard to get past the cameraman’s heavy breathing.

    Gary,
Thanks for listening to my comment about the bucket.

    How about this idea:
Could you announce the theme of the blog say two weeks in advance so we have enough time to get the appropriate wine and taste it while watching the episode?

Imagine getting tasting notes and comments from people while you talking?

    That would be fun.

I am not saying that this should be done every time but occasional group tasting would bring more listeners in.

Enjoying the videoblog. It’s informative, unpretentious, and I like the overall “tone”.

I agree with the first commenter’s point about the audio. If BestBuy doesn’t sell proper microphone kits it may be worth a trip to B&H Photo & Video.

I’ve got no problem with the wardrobe, background or the spit bucket but some better lighting wouldn’t hurt. Actually I wouldn’t mind a nicer looking spit bucket. Also your camera operator gets a little happy with the zooming in and out but you can’t really avoid that.

I used to be in TV production so I’m harping a bit. I can’t complain about the content though.

    Keep it coming.

Just found your site today and love the videos….great content, informative and fun. I do not know you but just from watching,I would try your recommendations!
You get to the point without being over the top.
Keep the spit bucket….it’s unpretentious and serves a purpose. This is a new hobbie for myself, my husband and some friends. I’ll have them all watching! “B E L L I S S I M O”

Watched all episodes and enjoyed them a lot.
Since you mentioned Tuscany, I have a challenge for you – pick three best Tuscany reds and compare them to three best reds from Dalmatia just 200 miles east of Tuscany(Adriatic coast of Croatia). You may not have discovered this region yet and I think you and your viewers will be pleasantly suprised.

Love it. The dude breathing behind the camera sounds like a stalker. Otherwise…bravo!

    Dear Gary.

Great job, love the segments. Like your style, great addition to your web site. Sound quality could be better. Like Michael comment about the stalker…

One comment: Bolgheri it is not in Maremma,is located in the middle of Livorno province. Maremma is located in the province of Grosseto.

Thank you. Looking forward to more episodes.

    Great info!
I am enjoying the whole new video tasting experience. Keep it coming.
Talk your camera man down from the ledge and please follow the sound comments. Otherwise I love the effort and will tune in regularly.

    Gary,

Great find, I am glad you are getting away from some of the big vineyards in Tuscany. I would recommend you try a couple of bottles from Montespertoli. The local San Giovese is fantastic.

Keep up the great work I love all of the shows.

I’m more accustomed to the sangiovese wines from Chianti. This blend sounds interesting. I rarely taste anything more than medium bodied from sangiovese based wines. This style sounds intriguing. I’m going to seek out these wines. Opening up new doors Gary..opening up new doors.

Was just in Tuscany and didnt know about Maremma- bummer. Great show, thanks Gary. Maybe putting up one of the FIVE steelers superbowl victory plaques would be a nice change of pace.

wow, short episode. Thank you so much for the tip on maremma, though i’m not sure if it’s still a value now as it’s like a year and a half later. That’s exactly what I was hoping to find here, great values on italian wines because they tend to be really highly, and sometimes over-priced. I love what you’re doing here and really appreciate you sharing your expertise.

GV- everybody loves you so much now and respects your opinion that you can’t even buy this wine through WL anymore. Here’s my question of the day: is there anything from Maremma that we shouldn’t buy???
