Lines of the day – ‘Nose-tradamus’ and ‘So Gary, when did you become a fan of us? GV – It hasn’t happened yet bud.’

Better than the first fan show but still not really my bag.

Yankees will finish a distant second to the Sox.
    Don’t care.
Gotta go with pops. Sasha dominates.
Can’t recall, so that’s definitely not a repurchase.

  • Anonymous

David T on the forums. I mentioned that in tonight’s comments, forgot to yesterday. Formerly ONUMello on Disqus, I changed Disqus when I changed my Twitter account likewise.

    QOTD 1: No.
QOTD 2: Gary’s Scores. (sorry, SS- I respect that you started it, but this just makes sense).
QOTD 3: Sasha- Mott would be a force to reckon with to start, but would tire early and get double-teamed by the Vaynerchuks. Then, after Gary introduces the foreign object/weapon, Sasha would fake a heart attack, luring a gullible and concerned GV all too close and get pinned in this clever and subversive move. Age and wisdom prevails!!
QOTD 4: 1995 Robert Mondavi Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (from a friend’s cellar). At just 13.5% alcohol, still showing plenty of freshness, casssis, tobacco and pencil lead mineral, this reminded me more of Bordeaux than modern Napa Cab. I didn’t pay for it the first time, but at K&L’s $70 price, I wouldn’t mind grabbing this well-aged example of hay-day, elegant-styled Napa cab.

  • After not seeing Kahuna on Twitter for quite a while, glad to see him pop up here & note that he’s doing well.

    QOTD 1 – Yes
    2 – I want some SS_Chris recongition in there
3 – I reckon Gary would be so desperate to win he’d bring in a pretty crazy foreign object to get the job done. Mott would be the true winner though.
4 – Opus One. I want to taste it again because I felt my palate was on an off day BUT I sure as anything wouldn’t buy it based on the first tasting. Way too expensive.

  • ToddT

Really fun shows GV! love this party atmosphere as you bring us in on 1K!
    QOTD1: Don’t care
    QOTD2: Care less
    QOTD3: Mott
QOTD4:1999 Staglin Family Cab, yes I would buy it. It was really tasty, and it was only a 1/2 bottle.

  • 2nd QOTD SS_Chris
3rd QOTD Sasha for sure would win hands down
4th 2005 Cosentino Winery Estate Cab. I would buy it again. Nice and fruity but good balance.

  • philoxera

Easily the best show EVER…..and I mean EVER!!!!…..

  • A_S

    QOTD:
Smokenmirrors: Sorry, I’m new to baseball
    SS Chris: “SS Chris spreadsheet”
Kahuna: Mott would win, because father and son Vaynerchuk would be to busy eating cheese and bread;)
Brooklyn Paul: Can’t remember what it was, so then it probably wasn’t that great. But I will buy more Napa cab:)

Hmmmm. I’ve never found anything shared with friends to be wasted, wine or otherwise.

  • You most definitely had an off bottle of the ’07 Kathryn Hall. I tried this is at the winery a couple of months ago and it was phenomenal. Not at all what was described on the show. Sad that you didn’t get to taste what I tasted. 🙁

    Gary
you should wear a dark t shirt under that BD if you are going to have it that open bro.

  • JRobRRV

    Good show.

    Smokenmirrors: I think so.
SS Chris: Honestly, if you want to name it you name, keep it on your PC. If it’s on Gary’s site, he owns it. haha.
    Kahuna: Mott..
Brooklyn Paul: 2002 Carini Oakville Cab (Skellenger) … prior to this, a Larkmead 06

Great to see the faces of the vayniacs I’ve only known by name for years Gary.

Without a doubt, Sasha would win in a cage match. The man is old school!

Last Napa? That would be tonight’s wine: 2007 Cuvaison, Napa Valley Cabernet, Mount Veeder. I would not buy it again. It’s missing all the old world earthiness I love. It’s all fruit & oak. Bleh. The label says 14.5% alcohol, but it’s definitely more. This is why my cellar is mostly Bordeaux, with a growing contingency of German Riesling and Burgundy. I know many people love the fruit & oak, but it simply doesn’t work for my palate.

Thanks for the amazing ride & education Gary.

    John D.

  • Thank you for this episode! I never knew about SS Chris’ spreadsheet… or is that Gary’s Ratings spreadsheet.

  • NY Pete

and busting is what you do very well my friend … too bad nOObs and others don’t find the humor in that like we do.

  • Anonymous

Hilarious QOTD by KAHUNA. I think as soon as you put Sasha in a steel cage the “old man strength” super powers will kick in. Gary and Mott don’t have a chance.

  • So sad I couldn’t make it to this, but I had other commitments on that day. I probably wouldn’t have been able to contain my laughter during this taping. Well done by all!

  • Good crew… except Kahuna, of course.
QOTD 1: Yanks = Wild Card; QOTD 2: Return to the classic SS Chris Spreadsheet name; QOTD 3: Ummm, did Kuhuna say something? …wasn’t listening. QOTD4: Twenty Rows 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, and I’d have it again.

  • laurensNL

    Haha this is hilarious!

  • Anonymous

QOTD1: they always buy their way in
    QOTD2: SS Chris’s spreadsheet of Gary’s Ratings
    QOTD3: Mott
    QOTD: can’t remember, therefore no.

  • SS Chris AND Kahuna!! EPIC!!! 🙂

  • Sasha would win with a Smile.

  • John__J

Awesome episode, love the theme of these episodes leading up to the 1st millennium show. Nice to put some faces to some names.

qotd1: no offense, but I just dont get these who’s gonna win so and so qotd”s at all
    qotd2: SS Chris’s spreadsheet on Gary’s scores
    qotd3: Sasha would Dominate
qotd4: an 83 Dominus, and no I wouldnt even though I certainly enjoyed it, too many things out there that I havent tried yet, and I got to try that for free. That sucker’s a little pricey.

  • Anonymous

    qotd1: nah
    2: ss chris spreadsheet
    3: mott
4: Did a Cali Tasting so I would buy the 2007 Blackbird Vineyards Illustration

  • Anonymous

    QOTD1: Yes.
QOTD2: Gary’s Ratings powered by SS Chris (if you still manage it)
    QOTD3: Mott, the Wiley Veteran
    QOTD4: can’t remember

  • Don Simpson

QOTD1: If their pitching holds up.
QOTD2: Gary’s Ratings with SS Chris in the footer.
    QOTD3: MOTT!!!!!
QOTD4: 2007 BV Napa Cab – No, I would not drink it again, it was over oaked.

  • Really enjoying the episodes 996-999! My take from this is that you don’t have to take a second mortgage out on the house to get some great Napa Cabs, where as first growths will cost you your first born and will probably taste like dirt until you’re about to kick the bucket anyway. Just my opinion!

QOTD1: Doesn’t matter, Giants are in line for a repeat!
QOTD2: “Gary’s scores brought to you by SS Chris”
QOTD3: Sasha (if he hasn’t been drinking).
    QOTD4: Can’t recall.

Q1 – Hell no. ABTY (Anyone But The Yankees) … Don’t worry, you’ll find a strapping new overpriced playboy by mid-season who bats .350. Once the Steinbrenners go on a little shopping spree, you will feel all better! Cliff Lee? Who’s he?
Q2 – Gary’s Ratings. Efficiency over nostalgia. SSChris Spreadsheet sounds like a list of your favorite pornos.
Q3 – Sasha on the vodka. Mott seems harmless. GV, dad always wins.
Q4 – Ehlers Estate 1886 Cab Sauv. I got it for less than half price, so absolutely worth it. Not worth it at $95.

  • gary your tha man! foreign object!1!!!

  • ALLAN

    These shows all ROCKED!

GREAT to see the Vayniacs taste along with you Gary. Some community you have built here G!!!

  • Really nice job Gary. This is a great thing for your fans! So far I believe this group represents your audience the best. SS Chris is a little hard to handle, but you did a very nice job keeping the group under control.
I would never call it the SS Chris spreadsheet simply because he is using your stuff, so it should be called Gary’s Ratings. I hate the Yankees. I think that Gary is competitive enough to win in just about anything. Hundred Acre Cab 2007.

How boring – all cabs. So now in two shows we have all red wines. Really? C’mon guys!

    QOTD1: Yankees suck – no.
    QOTD2: SS Chris SS
QOTD3: Sasha – his age and guile would triumph.
QOTD4: 2004 Quintessa – it was a gift, but yes, I would receive it again. 😉

  • 1. Julian Assange
    2. Tiger’s Blood
    3. Brandon Warnakie (forgive spelling)

Wait *sniffle* No more *snort* LurkerKing *tear* challenges?

    *puts blanket over head*

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

    *snot runs down nose*

These guys are fun. It’s nice to see everyone loosen up. I just wish it wasn’t all Cabernet’s. NO ONE would have talked me out of my pick! “This table’s gettin’ hostile.” HAHAHA!

QOTD: I sure hope those bastard Yankees DON’T win the AL East!
QOTD: Being that it IS Gary’s actual ratings, then you KNOW what it should be called.
QOTD: Sasha would win that steel cage match.
QOTD: 2002 Jericho Canyon, and I would buy it again.

  • QOTD:
    1) Yankees will win the American East once again
    2) It should technically be Gary’s Scores, but in the spirit of what WL TV has become and what Gary V is about I really agree with SS CHRIS, he should have the title.
    3) Sasha would out wit you and mott instantly.
    4) Liberty 2008 CAB – It is a random california cab that you can find at the SAQ. I would not buy it again.

These are tremendous, fan appreciation episodes. My thanks go out to SS Chris for all of his hard work.

It is ideal to have 4-5 fans rather than a room of 20 people.

    QOTD1: No
    QOTD2: SS Chris Spreadsheet
    QOTD3: Mott
    QOTD4: 05 Havens Black & Blue–very good, but wouldn’t buy again.

  • Anonymous

Yes, of course – go Yanks!!!
    How about the SS Spreadsheet
My money is on Mott – don’t get him angry!
I can’t even remember… hard to find a good QPR play there!

  • Ditto on the thanks to SS Chris for the spreadsheet effort.

  • NY Pete

I just started following this show and watching all the old episodes, must say, I love it! love it! love it! I started working fine dining a few months ago and I have always loved wine, but wanted to learn more and expand so I stumbled across GV and have gained lots of valuable tips and knowledge. Just need to drink more wine now 😉 You are right we all have our own tastes!!!
