  • Same here!! I haven’t been able to view an episode on my ipod since episode 991. It sucks!! I can download them final and they will even play in iTunes but not on my ipod. What’s up with that?!?!?

QOTD: That’s not really a fair question to me. So I will change it up a little. How about, what wines have I tried because of this show that I otherwise may not have had? Because of WLTV, I bought boatloads of 2005 Bordeaux, 2004 Brunello (although it looks like 2006 is even better), and 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape. I have tried Sancerre, Bandol rose, Languedoc wines, Anglianico, Albarino and Sangrantino. I have gotten on the mailing lists of Loring Wine Company, Emeritus, Tablas Creek and Dancing Hares. All of these things would not have happened if I was not an avid viewer of this show. Cheers!

The best wine I found through this show remains Jose Dhondt non-vintage blanc de blanc Champagne. Thanks for finding that one!

  • Haven’t had many considering we don’t have most of the wines you rate up here in Quebec but I’ld probably say tie between:
-Shaw and Smith Chardonnay 2007 M3 Vineyard
    – Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2009

    thanks GV

QOTD- 2005 Sunday Mountain Sauvignon Blanc $8. Bought 6, bought 12 more, bought 12 more, gave a lot of it away to people who drank Chardonnay so they could try a different white wine. Cheers!

  • tried an Alamos Malbec, not the vintage that you rated on the show, but still, i saw it and remembered Alamos being on the show and bought it. wasn’t that impressed overall.

  • K vintners syrah knocked my socks off! I just tried an Arneis for the first time as well and I am pleasantly surprised and happy with the price point.

Gary, watching you in this episode, which although it’s listed as EP 995, it looks like you filmed this after the 4 Vayniac Eps……but, based on you comment in the beginning, about “getting Nostalgic….and, if nothing else, remember that you think White wine is underestimated and under rated”….. and now your QOTD “what is the best wine that you ever had based on this show’s recommendation?” Along with your tone and body language during both statement…… I’m starting to suspect that this is the ACTUAL end and the 1000 will be that announcement. You could be playin’ or acting……but I’m just sayin’

Anyway, my answere to your QOTD…..and I have to give two……one red and one white. For the reds, it would be the EL NIDO CLIO’s…..you started with the ’03 (Ep. 84) and have tasted 4 consecutive vintages (’03-’06). I particularly like the ’04 vintage (Ep. 126)

For the white, it would have to be the 2005 BAUMARD COTEAUX du LAYON CLOS Ste. CATHERINE, tasted on Ep. 278. This is a dessert Chenin Blanc that is simply SPECTACULAR. And Baumard has become on of my favorite, if not THE favorite of all producers. I’m a huge fan of their Quarts de Chaume’s…..also a dessert Chenin Blanc’s…….but so wonderfully balanced…..pure NECTAR.

So thanks buddy!!! And hope it’s not the end. BTW, there is a middle ground solution….go to 2 or 3 Eps a week. just sayin’

    GV – Just a quickie!

    QOTD: There are too many…

  • QOTD: Your Canadian Ice wine special hooked me, I re-evaluated my relationship with ice wine and that Jackson Triggs riesling you had still blows me away every time I drink it.

QOTD – Probably the 2003 St. Jean Du Barroux L’Oligocen, I really enjoyed that wine! Also liked the 2007 Valdesil Montenovo Godello…
