    hey Gar, still archive-diving…

tough choice between the one I loved as a midget - Herculoids (a mix of sci-fi & dinosaurs), and the one I used to race home from classes (and later, from work) to watch - the original X-men.

Favorite cartoon — I’m aging myself — Crusader Rabbit and Rags the Tiger.

Never heard of it? Google it!

Wine Spectator just ranked the 2004 Olson Ogden 93 points. Looks like Gary was right about his perdiction.

Gary, nice episode. Why are so concerned about your age and what people think of your experience? I haven’t seen many people describing wines with so much enthusiasm as you do. Besides, I think your impressions are more important that the wine score.

TimF - With you on the french pronunciation of Blanc now… wow, jogged the memory, guess I’ve been listening to too many Americans. Still, I wonder if by now it is too late to change American’s pronunciation (in fact, found a wine website that claimed “Sauvignon Blanc” was pronounced “blanhk”) and if we have Americanized a foreign word such that we no longer need say the correct and native way.

    GARY!
    BOY AM I SLOW!!!!
I just noticed the TING bottle in this episode.
Before you think I am toooooo dumb!
They have restyled their bottles since I lived there sooooo - there is my excuse.
Really the bottle is shorter and a lighter green and new logo on the bottle.
    THANKS GARY!

GOL - I thought the same thing as you then I looked up a website that had actual French pronunciations that you can listen to. Blanc has no ‘c’ pronounced. It ends in a very nasally ‘n’ — sounds kind of like ‘blahwn’. It makes sense based upon the 7 years of French I took at various times during my life (I stil can’t speak it worth a darn).

Pronunciation - First off, I’m a little hesitant because Stephane does a have an accent aigu over the first “e” in his name, and the reason JayM may think the “c” is silent is because he might be Canadian. but I AM 100% POSITIVE that “Blanc” has a hard c… taught French in college and lived in france for 1 yr… on the same topic, “terroir” should be pronounced to rhyme with “noir” as in “pinot noir” and “Loire” (where I lived in france)… say the “r”… “terroir” and “noir” do not rhyme with the french word for king, “roi”, or “bois” as in “Clos du Bois”… if anyone doubts any of this post your email and I will contact you, and because I am posting this one day late I will bring this up on a future episode

QOD - No shout-outs for Underdog? “Speed of lightning, roar of thunder…”! Plus the show had Tennessee Tuxedo sandwiched between Underdog episodes. Rocky and Bullwinkle and Justice League merit honorable mention

GV, goes without mention, another solid ep… Yankees-like consistency (alas, my poor White Sox)

    Gary,

I bought a case of the 2005 Elk Cove Pinot Gris simply because I love their Pinot Noir. I am drinking a lot of Sauvignon Blanc these days. Anything to avoid the oak and butter! Well, this Pinot Gris was a real find. Very interesting. I give it a 90 at 16 bones. Give it a try. Let me know what you think.

Most of the “best 100″ cartoon lists I’ve seen have Simpsons as #1, but as a social scientist, I must admit the survey sampling techniques can hardly be trusted.

    Gary,
Would you recommend the Arrocal to pair with pizza like you did Rioja?

Old enough to believe that Rocky and Bullwinkle was the best. Anyone remember Supercar? Still love Fraggle Rock - thanks for reminding me, JohnM. Simpsons & South Park are hard to beat today.

I had comments prepared yesterday, but I got pulled away and they got deleted. In a nutshell…I like this episode. I think most of us take great pride in finding diamonds in the rough. I remember you tasting the NO on a previous episode. The Arrocal label looks familiar, but I will definitely try a bottle.

Cartoons? There are so many to choose from.

    Speed Racer
    Fat Albert
    Scooby Doo
    Looney Toons
    Tom & Jerry
    Clutch Cargo
    Justice League
Peanuts — even though they were features as opposed to regular ‘toons
