Here it is! After a long wait the 100th episode is finally ready. Sit back with your favorite glass of wine and enjoy this very special WLTV. Of course a new QOD.

    qotd: I guess my fav Gary since we are picking 1 would be #4. The one where I got to see the tour of wine library and drool over the magnums of Petrus and d'Yquem. Wonderful 100th Gary. Looking forward to your 10,000 episode where instead of spitting , you can just empty your catheter into the Jet's spit bucket. lol, just kidding, although gives me a new pun for the vin jaune episode I'm waiting for. {not to mention the charbono tasting episode.}
    Seriously Gary, congrats, glad I'll at least get to see the 1000 live. Plus who knows, maybe by then you'll have done a vin jaune and a charbono tasting episode, and I can move on to requesting an episode on Madeira's. {I got lots more ideas, but 1 or 2 at a time.}
    Thanks Gary.
  • Ki-Whan
Hey Gary V, thanks for creating this awesome product. I'm totally hooked. My favourite episode from 1-100 would be #43 with guest Santiago Achaval from Argentina. Keep on rockin
  • thefanjestic
That was really funny - corny but in a Beastie Boys Sabotage sort of way.

Qotd: Episode #4 because you get to see the awesome wine cellar! I love getting to see the Wine Library and I really hope to get to see it in person some day.

You wonder if you would make it another 100 episodes, and now you're at 400+ - I'm just hoping for one more episode, and then a few more after that! :)
  • I don't like what I see on the whiteboard!!!!
  • Dave Canada
    :) That was RAD!!
QOTD - Gotta be Ep 99. It is from the hip and the heart!
  • Congradulations on #100 Gary!

Also congradulations on changing my point of view about how a son of an owner in a family owned business can actually be a great thing - I used to work for a family where the son was the antithesis of everything you represent. You are extremely refreshing!

Gary, thank you, thank you, thank you for WLTV
Now that I've caught up on the frist 100 episodes all I can say is ...

It was a sad day for me when Neil O'Donnel threw two picks in XXX but had to be a sadder day for you when the Jets signed him to a contract after that.

    Thanks,
    Monty from Colorado

    Great,

Wines from the USA that aren't from California.

Hey, Gary... I joined up after seeing the ad in LA Times. Episode 100 is a hoot. It's the first one I watched. So to answer your BIG QUESTION, my favorite episode of your first 100 is episode 100. Now, about those other 99... Can I fit them in a wine tote?
  • miriam
    Gary,

Congratulations. Much love from Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Kenwood Chardonnay Sonoma '05 (750 ML)
BRONZE MEDAL, 2006 ORANGE COUNTY FAIR WINE COMP. The '05 Kenwood Chardonnay deftly combines ripe peach with a shading of creme to create a nicely balanced wine; pair with fruit-stuffed pork chops.

Kenwood Pinot Noir Russian River '04 (750 ML)
SILVER MEDAL, 2006 SAN FRANCISCO INT'L WINE COMP. One of the great wine country secrets, the '04 Kenwood Pinot Noir graces the palate with fine ripe fruit flavors that are both gentle and persistent.

    Congrats Gary!!!

Fav ep is Tony Coturri. I've been a Coturri wine lover for the past couple years ever since attending a spring tasting Tony had at his place on Sonoma Mountain. Fantastic unusual wines. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada but travel for work to San Fran a few times a year. Each trip I make it a point to stay over Fri night and fly on Sat so I can go to Tony's on the Fri night to taste, talk and buy his wine. One of the few business trips I look forward to. Great ep with Tony.
  • SS Chris - bingo. That's the way I'm going to handle it.
  • Theresa
To the very best Gary in the business,
    Great 100th episode!
  • Great 100 episode. Thanks for the first 100 looking forward to many more. My favorite was your store tour. Just attended the Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta and there were several other WLTV fans there. 95 wineries present and many of us giving Vaynernods or Vaynershrugs. More shrugs than nods. Thanks Gary.
  • Russ J
Late to the party. Away on biz.
    Episode #39 -Russ J from New J

    Vayneristas?
  • SS Chris
Tony, thanks for your clarification which I think is correct. So, the VaynerChuck means exactly the same as the instapour...so lose the instapour and just use the Chuck (by the way I love those). Ant the VaynerPASS will be the general idea that Gary has passed on the wine. thanks
  • michael w
    Congrats!!!

You responded to only only one comment of mine but it was the most important......are you a family type of guy?? Your 100 episode answered that.... as you said it would. The funny thing is I never thought you would include a little of my own professional occupation. [I am a partner in a surveillance and investigative firm]

Best episode?? I think I am going to go with 48? Meet the Meekers....something about a dis-functional couple becoming wine makers and walking off in the sunset. Seriously it seemed very real and down to earth. It appealed a little to the beginning to the established cork dorks.
  • Vinacull
Congrats to you Gary and the WLTV crew for the one dubba zero. The igloo part cracked me up, but the guy should have been holding a Ting instead of a Coke. ;-) Special nods to Jim in the wine room and to Michelle at the end of the clip who handed you the Verite. She always seems to be the one who rings me up when I'm buying at WL. QOTD: Since you're forcing a single choice only, I have to say number 18 on decanting because it really has changed the wine drinking ritual for me - and I suspect for many others as well. If it had not gotten such a huge number of hits on the internet, who knows when I would have come around as a WLTV Vayniac. Thanks for bringing in the Iron Sheik and the other figures. I look forward to seeing them put the glass burglar in a sleeper hold.

  • As I understand it, a Vaynerchuck has two meanings: one a wine Gary has passed on, and two (a more specific definition), an action where gary tastes a wine and then dumps without comment.

In order to avoid confusion, I can change the name of the Vaynerchuck (2) to something else, but I personally don't like "instapour".
  • SS Chris
VaynerPASS also on the SS for the Kenwood Chard from Ep #100
  • SS Chris
Matty Van, I've been using the VaynerPASS already (I like that one better than the initial VaynerCHUCK).

Initially, my SS only showed the VaynerNODDED (recommended wines)as that was all that I cared about. When the WEB SS was launched on Ep #97, Gary announced that we would be adding ALL wines to the SS. Starting w/ #97, I started adding all wines. For the wines that Gary passed on, I wanted to make it easy for all VAYNIACS to identify. So, I put a "VaynerPASS" as the first word in the "TASTING NOTES" section. Go to the SS and look at the 2 VaynerPASSED wines!! :-)
  • SS Chris
Sean M and Tony, The VaynerCHUCK was one of the very first ones. If you remember back on, I think Ep #63, is where Gary mentioned the "HILL-ARIOUS" links to the VaynerNOD and the VaynerCHUCK which wereset up by Brandon M. These were the first two. The VaynerNOD was when GV nodded in approval leading to his recommendation of that wine. The VaynerCHUCK was a generic term for when Gary passed...it normally involved a VaynerSHAKE (shaking his head in disapproval before the spit).

As time has gone on, there have been many more different VaynerISM's that now lead up to the ultimate VaynerCHUCK. The VaynerSHAKE, VaynerCLANK, VaynerSCOWL would all fit into that sub-category and the VaynerInstaPour would fit in as well.

I think I'm correct on this VaynerHISTORY. Does this clarify?
  • Matty Van, Rochester,NY
how about VaynerPASS as a Vaynerisms..."no hunnie were not ordering that wine it was a VaynerPASS on WLTV
  • sheila
Congrats on 100...favorite episode was possibly #0...

    Great Work!
Congrats....Has to be episode #57....you took WLTV to a new level after this.
    Rob from NJ
  • SeanM,

I'll add the VaynerCHUCK to my list of Vaynerisms. Good job!
  • Jhan,

You SHOULD be working. But, no, you're watching WLTV and I'm working. Ummmm...well, I should be working too.

    Kisses
  • SeanM
Hey Chris, I keep forgetting to do my bit to inflate your ego, nice job on the spread sheets.

    VaynerINSTA-POUR? Isn't Vayner-'CHUCK' easier to say?
  • Bill T.
GREAT, GREAT Job, Gary! You definately found a way to make #100 special!

If you are taking requests, could you taste the San Rustico Amarone 2000 ...seems like a real bargain for $21.
  • Denise
This was my favorite episode because it's ripe with your personality, Gary. Absolutely great. You mentioned your Mom and her faith in your ability at such a young age to contribute to the family business - maybe we'll see her in a future episode?
  • Jhan Mason
Great episode! Congrats on your 100th - hope there are at least 100 more. I don't get much time to drop in on WLTV (I really should be working right now...) but always enjoy it when I do.
Chris S.- Love that spreadsheet. What a great resource.
  • Dan
    Gary V!

I was in the Big Easy and had to miss this when it came out - so i am just watching today.

    Great stuff, great stuff.

I am not sure which episode I would say is my favorite. I think it is the one (I coudl never find it when I went looking earlier) when you said that "There are no great wines, only great bottles". It was obvious early in WLTV's history that this was a different sort of wine review. That phrase sort of captured it all for me.

Here's to another 100, if that condom headed guy doesn't destroy your glass.

    Cheers!

    Dan (in Houston)
  • SS Chris
Rick E (Cmnt #200), I know exactly what you're referring to...i call it the VaynerINSTA-POUR,

Susan (Cmnt #201), Isn't the BIGGEST reason that Ep #95 is your favorite because that's the episode that Gary mentions meeting ME for the first time. LOL :-)
  • Susan
    Well Gary,
You must already know that I love corn!
After all I was born in Indiana - so yes, I love the corn at the beginning of this episode.
I really loved the guy with the bucket on his head and the IGLOO guy! Very cool!!
I always like to see pics of the rest of the building since I can't get up to Jersey just yet.
    Thanks!
    Keep 'em coming!
    We want another 100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Susan
    Gary-
    My favorite episode is:
    EPISODE 95!!!!! Alsace and TING!!
Not only is this episode full of energy - you tasted the TING! Boy, I had to think about that one for a loooooooooonnnnnnnggggg time! Not!
  • Rick E
    GV --

My favorite episode is any on which you're so disgusted by the wine you just tasted that words fail you. Just a silent pour into the bucket, a s-eating grin, and move on.

And I have to agree that the Jets draft history episode was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

    Here's to the next 100!

A vote for "monitoring" the comment chat - stuff like #144 serves nobody. Nasty, vulgar trash-talk has PLENTY of airspace all over this culture of ours. Those who like it and want to communicate that way have their pick of stuff to watch, listen to and talk about. I think WLTV chat is not there (Gary got a bunch of flack for his episode with all the GDs - good thing!) and ought to safeguard against going there. It's censor-time.
