This show was great as I have enjoyed and not enjoyed all four wines rated. I have toured three of the four vineyards. The Opus vineyard is completely different than the Robert Mondavi vineyard. The Opus way of making wine is also completely different.

  • How about blind tasting and not knowing what Parker or the Spectator have to say? Funny how you slurp/slurp, fail to cleanse your palate, and sometimes swallow. I’m not impressed

When I tasted these wines for work the Mondavi and Caymus came out with that impressive complexity and balance. Where Opus and Insignia seemed like they were being crushed by their Names.

Big prices. Rhone has saved my palate from bankruptcy many a night.

Walla Walla N Rhone…with a little bit of Williamette valley. Now there is romance!

BECAUSE US! WITH A LITTLE BIT OF YOU! WE’RE CHANGING THE WINE WORLD. WHETHER YOU TASTE IT OR NOT!!

    GARY, are you watching?????????

Interesting episode Gary, love seeing love real pricey wines get beat by the more affordable ones. Price definitely isn’t everything.
Would also love to see you do an episode on vin jaune’s, or if you tackled a charbono tasting episode.

Have had all these wines, Opus is so over rated and over priced. Have a Insignia that I am laying down, Mondavi Reserves do not get enough respect, Caymus is always a steady producer. Gary you are always missed, thought for these wines there would be more comments. http://www.winelx.com

I'm surprised that Mondavi “crushed” Opus One. I'd like to hear comments on how two wines could be so far apart in quality when Opus One and Mondavi are located across the street from each other. I WOULD like to add that the grapes in the Mondavi cab were probably sourced from their “H Block.” I'm told they've been using the grapes from their H Block in their big cabs for a number of years. I'd also like to draw your attention to the label on the Mondavi. Notice: The label shows a shot of their winery – the arch, very monastery like. I believe Mondavi wines that display the arch are estate sourced and sold from the winery directly. Has anyone heard otherwise?
