QOTD: Austria is probably the area I haven’t experienced as yet. I have had other Loire varieties, but not Muscadet………I’ll look for some of these.

Haven’t had the pleasure of the Spanish wine in general, or any South African ones either. Both I hear have some phenomenal ones to choose from.

Haven’t tried a few of the wallet busters: barolo, super tuscan…a good bordeaux. Enjoy drinking muscadet. I enjoy the simple mineral taste.

QOTD: The list is long, but the next item is Italien wines- Chianti/Super Tuscans sound exciting.

QOTD: Being a newbie to the world of wine there are lots of different grapes I have not tried. After watching this episode I will be trying Muscadet. I want to try Malbec….better watch the Malbec episodes again

    Gary,

Good ep. And with the summer months approaching… well, they’re here!
QOTD: Italian wines. The mishmash of DOC’s, its very uneven quality, makes it difficult to know where to jump in.

    QOTD:
I’ve never had a Pinotage. From the descriptions, I’m not sure I’d like it much, but I suppose I should try one someday. My experience, as is the case with many here, is very limited on 1st growth bordeaux and burgundy.

I would love to have the opportunity to taste these 1st growth wines, especially the ones that consistently score 96 and up, just to calibrate my palate with expectations. Wish I could find a tasting event in my area pouring these. Even if the price of admission was pretty high I think I’d go just to get my palate educated. But at $300 and up per bottle I can’t afford to just jump in!

Budget keeps me drinking wines (always under $100 a bottle and most often in the avg $25 ballpark. To my mind, every time I order a case I try to keep it in the $250-ish ballpark. That means when I order the $50 bottle I try to order a couple $10-12 bottles to get the average down.

QOTD – I have never had a Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Excellent episode! I had my first Muscadet 2 weekends ago with some Oysters! Very simple, yet enjoyable.

I’m with ya on the quaffability (if that’s a word) of Muscadets. I’m going to serve it in a bucket with stone goblets next time.

    QOTD: Jura & Sovoie

Never tried a true Muscadet but will in the future.. G you are the man!!!!!! Thanks you for the info.

QOTD— I really want to experience A TRUE Super Tuscan wine that brings like you say The Thunder….

Haven’t had a Barolo due to the price. Having a hard time finding a red I like lately. Finding whites to be the values lately. Help me!!!

QOTD: I’m still new to the wine world, so there’s a lot I haven’t tried yet.. That being said, I have a bunch of friends who are over the place as far as tastes and I’m getting to try a lot more.

Quite a relevant ep, GV! I’m also in the 10% of the Muscadet drinkers… One one the best I’ve had was the Chasseloir that you tried, except their top cuvée, Cuvée des Ceps Centenaires… Very good stuff to seek out! Another great bottle of the stuff is Loiret Frères Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur lie Les Clissages d’or 2005 which, at 4 euros, is a steal… Then again, like Gary said, nothing to spend hundreds of $ on, but still something everybody should have once in a while…

Any of you have ever had an aged Muscadet??? Read an article last month about how these wines could age for 20 age and be awesome even then!! I’d be interested in getting your feedback on this…

QOTD: Never had Muscadet but sound good. I don’t recall ever having Japanese Sake or if I did I had way too much.

Should trueness matter in wine? In vino veritas. Of course. Thanks for bringing the true.

QOTD: Well, it is not a region, but I have never tried Kosher wine.

QOTD: I have never had Pinotage. Not sure I will like it, but them again, so far I like them all except for Muscadine, it just doesn’t agree with me or I with it.

That’s so funny…I opened a a Muscadet last night to have with Pesto Pasta. A 2005 Domaine de Quilla. I twas pretty tart lemon by itself but with the food it really sang. GV we are really in synch ;)
QOTD: Grand Cru (?) Bordeaux-tooo expensive.

  23. June 5, 2007

Thanks for reminding me about Muscadet. It is great juice for the money.

    QOTD: never had a barolo….

    85 = 5 * 17

That’s odd, I love me some Pepiere but it’s never struck me as overly vegetal, more lemony and salty and like having a little bit of the sea in a bottle, which is always nice. The Clos des Briords is even better, and I don’t it being much over 12 bucks … if you can find it, that is.

QOD: let’s go with Barolo, Sancerre (!), and Priorat–all of which are sleeping in the house somewhere, methinks.

Interesting episode. I’ll have to give Muscadet a closer look.

QOTD: Can’t think of any wine types or countries that I’ve yet to try. There are lots of high end wines I’ve never tried. I’m especially interested in French first growths.

    Cheers
