Super Tuscans are my favorite. I just had a Frescobaldi Pomino Rosso at a restaurant which was listed for $75.00, but it was half price day, so we got it for $37.00, and when I checked out the on-line price, it was $25.00. The wine was fine, but I am totally obsessed with the mark-ups that restaurants impose upon their wines. This was really pushing it I think. They don’t have their wines listed on-line so that they can be looked up ahead of time.

Never had a Super Tuscan before. I feel like Ive missed out on a lot and need to really get into the game. I know, I know…. no rules. QOTD: I think a WLTV movie based on anything wine related would be cool, something that followed a storyline of some kind and was say no more than 10 minutes.

YO GV i know this is late–but i just drank the altesino and the perlato del bosco. My altesino didn’t do it for me–I found it a little flat not as exciting as you made it out to be. Perlato del bosco was spot on–great wine. I would drink that all day.

What would you drink Perlato Del Bosco with? Would it go well with a broccoli rabe or mushroom dish? You mentioned both in the tasting.

QOTD: theme song could be good

    Hi Gary,

this is the first time I am watching your show and I have to say I like the way you speak about wine. I am on the wine buisness too and I think it’s too boring to only be technical and don’t speak on a simple way about wine. I always say we have different palate so the wine you love will may not be the wine I love but this is whay Wine is so marvellous.

I am french but I am a big fan of American wine (I know this is unusual) did you do a show about american wine? I have recently taste the Pomelo by Randy Mason, this is juts an outstanding “casual” wine. Casual because this is not a wine for a fine dining experience, but more for a lunch on the beach or a cocktail with friends, very refreshing. let me know what you think about.

    regards

    Gary:

I think you should do the show with a live audience once a month or so, it could blossom to maybe a food network show.

    Love the show
    Thanks

The Altesino recommendation was spot on. Best wine I have had in that price band in awhile. I purchased two bottles. I tried on myself on Friday night when I got back from a business trip. I was thrilled it lived up to your review. The following night I opened two bottles. One $60 Napa well know Cab and the $13 Altesino. We had dinner with some folks that know wine. They preferred and actually requested more of the Altesino. Great stuff. Thanks for a nice value play.

I like that e-mail you read. I’m also from Tucson and I have a feeling I know the exact store that Shad is referring to. I went there once for a wine and food tasting and was treated like a child by the employees. What a turnoff! Why do stores hire employees who do that? Do they really want to deter the “lower class” from shopping at their store? It really upset me. Anyways, just wanted to get that off my chest. Great show as usual, if a little bit long.

GV, I know you are a big fan of the sour cherry. Have you ever had a wine with sour blueberry?

Nice. Rule #2, which I shall refer to as the “Gary Vaynerchuk punch you in the face limit”. This rule is SO BIG it completely eclipses rule #3. You have to go straight from rule #2 to rule #4.

QOTD. I don’t think a 30 sec intro is a good idea. How about a contest to regionally organize the largest/best WL tasting party?

Former Lurker, newbie wine geek; What was it you did with the cork to make sure it wasn’t corked? How about a show about dessert wine?

QOTD: I’m disapointed you’re canceling the wine making contest since I already sent my entry in! I would certainly vote for that, but the theme song contest seems to have the day (and it would be entertaining to everyone).

I hope you at least try my wine :)

Just purchased 4 bottles of the Altesino, thanks for showing us such a value.

QOTD: I think the new intro could be a good idea, but be careful that you don’t make every contest only for cinematographers or graphic artists. How about whoever gets more of their friends to sign up on your website gets a trip to Italy to taste wine with you.

QOTD: next contest, I like the 30 second intro idea, but cut it down… 10-15 seconds…

I just got done with my first batch of beer, and I think I’m ready to get on the homewade wine wagon… so count my vote toward that.

I agree with you on both: the Rosso Di Altesino and dirtbombs are both AWESOME.
    QOTD, I don’t know about a theme song/intro. I like the barebones silent W I N E L I B R A R Y T V . C O M intro. I like the idea of a wine label contest though…

Bringin’ tha thunda’. Off to a great start, always a good feelin’! Try some Peby Faugeres 2003.. oh my! Racy, hedonistic “garagiste!” Love Italian wine and women!

QOTD: Create a WLTV wine label contest – in other words design a label that would grace the bottle of a custom Wine Library TV wine, should such a wine (ever) exist.

I’m glad to hear you liked the Siepi. I’ve a bottle of the 2000 Siepi that is just waiting for the right occasion.

I was able to find and taste the Altesino Rosso Di Altesino 2004 today. It is very go. Super easy to drink but not strong on the flavor but I could smell the “dirt clod” on the nose. Very cool! Only the 2nd wine I was able to find here at home from Gary’s show.

QOTD – How about a prize for an idea that helps get people interested in wine, which is what the show’s all about, anyway. Could be any medium, video, print, etc.

Great episode. Really like the intro. Keep it coming.

QOTD: Intros are cool, but I like to see new things all the time. T-shirt contest would be cool. Home winemaking, YES!

I live for value Super Tuscans – hard to find.

Great episode, GV. Regarding your question about the intro, I say leave out an intro. It’s nice coming home from work and getting right to the banter and the wine.
