Have found South African wines very hit or miss, some have been awful. Not sure a couple years later that they have gotten any better. QOTD-Honeynut Chex http://www.winelx.com

QOTD: I am in a very small minority, I know, but I really don’t like cereal.

In a pinch, though, Cookie Crisp makes a great dessert.

Pinotage makes an interesting style of wine. There are many hybrid varietals in America. I would be interested in watching an American-hybrid episode.

  • Gary I don’t know why i discovered this only today cause you did this review a couple of months ago. But I’m sure glad you did because South African wine is amazing. I have travelled a lot and tasted a lot and I still find South African wines are the highest quality and best value for mony. But then I’m biased considering I just adore South Africa.

Enjoyed your SA program. I am a big fan of Rustenberg. The Merriman X is nice and sophisticated and interestingly different from year to year. Their Five Soldiers Chardonnay is my favorite white in the world. Splurge on it and Peter Barlow. Though Barlow is a lay down wine that will improve for many years to come.

Gotta check out some South African wines!

QOTD: good not-too-sweetened chunky granola, or Honey Bunches of Oats. Oh yeah.

Yo. I went to Stellenbosch back in 1998, which is a cute little town. I went to a winery called…Rust en Vrede? It was terrific, better than some of the others I went to there. But, it was cool going around there. Beautiful wine country, very dramatic.

Never had a wine from South Africa but aside from over-oaked wines they sound very interesting and something I need to check out down the line ( theres that promise of mine once again). QOTD: Lucky charms. Classic old school. I love those damn marshmellows. Ive tried buying the cheap generic kind and its just no good. Its got to be the real deal Lucky Charms. But if not Lucky Charms, Cracklin Oat Bran. Both of those I could eat handfuls of out of the box.

Another good episode with an excellent topic. I need to try slightly pricier wines from South Africa. The cheap stuff has been awful.

QOTD: I like cereal, and I eat plenty of it. But I think if I never had another bowl of cereal in my life, I wouldn’t care. It just isn’t addicting to me.
