Never had a wine from South Africa but aside from over-oaked wines they sound very interesting and something I need to check out down the line ( theres that promise of mine once again). QOTD: Lucky charms. Classic old school. I love those damn marshmellows. Ive tried buying the cheap generic kind and its just no good. Its got to be the real deal Lucky Charms. But if not Lucky Charms, Cracklin Oat Bran. Both of those I could eat handfuls of out of the box.

Yo. I went to Stellenbosch back in 1998, which is a cute little town. I went to a winery called…Rust en Vrede? It was terrific, better than some of the others I went to there. But, it was cool going around there. Beautiful wine country, very dramatic.

QOTD: Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes & Wild Blueberry Clusters

Gotta check out some South African wines!

QOTD: good not-too-sweetened chunky granola, or Honey Bunches of Oats. Oh yeah.

Enjoyed your SA program. I am a big fan of Rustenberg. The Merriman X is nice and sophisticated and interestingly different from year to year. Their Five Soldiers Chardonnay is my favorite white in the world. Splurge on it and Peter Barlow. Though Barlow is a lay down wine that will improve for many years to come.

Gary I don’t know why i discovered this only today cause you did this review a couple of months ago. But I’m sure glad you did because South African wine is amazing. I have travelled a lot and tasted a lot and I still find South African wines are the highest quality and best value for mony. But then I’m biased considering I just adore South Africa.

Pinotage makes an interesting style of wine. There are many hybrid varietals in America. I would be interested in watching an American-hybrid episode.

QOTD: I am in a very small minority, I know, but I really don’t like cereal.

In a pinch, though, Cookie Crisp makes a great dessert.

Great episode. More on Pinotage in the future.

I don’t eat cereal. I usually have meat for breakfast. It reminds me I am on top of the food chain.

I liked the sound of the Rustenberg, Cab Franc is a fave too. Shame about the Pinotage, I still have high hopes for that grape and, like you, respect S.A. winemaking, they have more to offer.

QOTD - Cereal or Serial? If Cereal then none, I don’t eat breakfast (although Muesli is OK). If Serial then Heroes is good.

Interesting variety of South African wines which were sampled today. Can you address what exactly has changed with the Washington State liquor laws over the last month which no longer allows you to ship to this destination? I still enjoy watching WLTV but I’m really frustrated that I can no longer receive any Wine Library shipments…

QOTD - My three favorites, one of which is always in the cupboard: Golden Grahams, Cracklin Oat Bran and Captain Crunch with Crunchberries.

    GVNC:

Just got back from two weeks in Portugal. Drank a lot of vinho de casa tinto. It was awesome!
Great wine. Less than 10 euros a bottle at restaurants. Gotta love that. QOTD: I’m a yogurt man.

Always love those South Africa wine shows. Kudos! QOTD: Cereal? Well, I am NOT a big cereal fan. I do oatmeal (good for that cholesterol problem, you know). However, my wife is a cereal connoisseur and her favorite is Cheerios.
