Interesting show. I would have thought for sure the decanted wine would have have better nose/taste. QOTD: Well I already know it was some sort of ruse, so to any future threats of quitting… I WILL REMAIN A LOYAL VANIYAC FOREVER!!!

You’ve gotten to 500. I’m sure on episode 1000 you’ll be like “Oh, I can’t believe we made it this far.” WLTV will be fine.

Wine library must live on, and we must spread the joy as best as we all can.

QOTD: we can all save the show by telling our friends how much fun it is to watch and how instructional. If we boost your viewership you HAVE to stay on ;)

Well we didn’t quite make it to 500 comments, but I am glad you are extending the show. Great stuff on tasting many hours later for these wine. Thanks for hanging in there and keep doing the show.

This is a great episode, GV. Thanks for showing me how wines behave in the decanter vs. the bottle after 24 hours.

QOTD: It would be nice to make WLTV a more two-way conversation about wine.

You could send us all free wine and then we’ll post our thoughts on it when you taste it on the new WLTV. Perfect!

Don’t be stupid Gary, you can’t quit the show. Its just getting big and your wine sales will fall.

QOTD – well, I was on vacation last week, and come home to this shocking development… Hoping it is a ruse…

Or a WLTV flag if you want to mail me one.

I am completely lost right now. I want to believe that the best thing since sliced bread would not break my heart like TO did with the Eagles a few years back…..So I prey for more Thunder.

QOTD: I will run through the vineyards of Burgundy in nothing but an american flag and a WLTV wristband if it will get you to change your mind GV

Gary, we would miss the ending of your show very much. We enjoy your store, the yearly Manor Event and you doing this show. Please don’t quit, unless its for some financial or health reason which we would all understand. One other thought would be do hire the British lady to replace you, she was great.

Gary, if you quit the show, I will only be able to watch re-runs on the APPLE TV I’m getting ready to win from you. Unless I just saved the show, and then you continue and make us all very very happy. It is hard to be happy at the moment, after watching the Packers fall short to the giants, and that “other” manning guy.

QOTD – How can I save something that is not showing any obvious signs of distress?

Here’s 2 cents towards the fund, maybe you’ll get enough of them to figure out why it needs saving.

Great post from Montana Sage: I believe he has hit the spot.
@gary it is never never wrong to decide what your heart wants! That a major point of life.
I like you and your show because besides als sniffi snif and all that sort of things you are speaking out of you heart your passion thats the important thing…

Gary, you haven’t told us WHY you are quitting, and that’s what is causing some of the consternation. On the other hand, you don’t need to give a reason — it’s your call. And of course, something may be going on that makes it impossible for you to continue the show. We are all hoping that your reasons are simply a matter of preference and convenience rather than a serious crisis.

We are all throwing out guesses. Mine is pretty simple: you’re suffering from burnout, and an ever-growing realization of just how much time this show has absorbed.

I did a daily blog for over a year and began to realize that it was an unacceptable drain on my time. And it stopped being fun. But instead of bagging it altogether, I decided to drop back to doing one post a week.

Going to that once-a-week format made a huge difference to me. I immediately began to look forward to blogging again, and I no longer feel like it’s taking up too big a slice of my time.

I love your show, and I’m not alone. I hope you don’t quit forever. Take some time off, take a vacation for a month, or even a year — but we are all pulling for you to return when you are ready to do so. Perhaps you may consider going to a once-a-week format. I think you’d find that it would give you a huge amount of stress relief without giving up the aspects of the show that you love.

I get together with friends for a weekly potluck dinner. Great food, and always some wine. We all talk about you and your show so much that it’s almost like we set an extra plate out for you. You’re right: it’s all about sharing friendship.

“WLTV may have caused trouble with wineries, distributors, etc. Nobody enjoys a negative review. WLTV may be being blackmailed by the aforementioned. i.e. We will not sell this to you or that. If indeed WLTV ceases webcasting I for one will miss it. Best of luck.”

That was my first thought after thinking that WLTV is moving to iTunes. If that is the case that it would be a shame and I would hope GV would let us get involved on behalf of WL.

As for purchasing wine – while I am an admitted newbie and learn a lot from GV’s comments, I don’t buy a wine because HE says it is good. But I use his comments based upon my likes/dislikes.

Promise not to be angry. 200+ episode lurker, first comment. (In my defense, I’m often pretty far behind on episodes and it feels weird to be posting weeks after the fact). Anyway, I hope you’re bluffing because WLTV does the community a great service by expanding horizons and changing peoples’ outlooks on wine. Personally, I’ve tried at least 10 new varietals that I never would have heard of without WLTV, many of which I enjoyed greatly.

I spent quite a while this weekend catching up on every episode since christmas. This year, I’ll resolve to do a better job of keeping up and actually posting comments if you promise to keep making episodes.
