An awesome episode. The kind of show that was so wonderfully social that it made me feel like I was watching a family hang out after a turkey dinner!

    QOTD 1: 56 turning 57
QOTD 2: If I could travel back in time I would spend a day with Kadinsky, one of my all time favorite artists. Perhaps we’d drink some wine from the early 1900’s at the end of the day :P

    - Can’t answer the 3rd Q as Obama has already been elected prez.

PS:If you haven’t had the chance to go to the Guggenheim in NYC, you should, they have remarkable exhibits there.

Pipes Rocks! I want to join her on a wine tour of the world.
Sasha maybe as old as 65 but he always steals the show. This time Pypes stole it.

    Wow, just wow.

That episode was incredible, I’m a new Vayniac, and I’m working my way backwards from the newest episodes towards Ep. #1.

So far, this is my favorite episode by far. First of all, Jen was the best guest I’ve seen thus far, exhibiting all sorts of Vayniac and Wine knowledge, and guest hosting very well along side Gary.

Not to mention Sasha joining the episode half way through and totally rocking my socks off, we even got a spot of Mott in there, what an all star cast for episode #403!

I know this is pretty late to be commenting on an episode from well over a year ago, but get used to it fools! I’m working my way back from late March 2009 and not making any excuses!

    THREE Q’sOTD:
#1. I’m gonna guess that Pops is 60 years old on the spot.
#2. I’d like to shadow my brother Caleb at work for one day, he works on an upcoming website called scrapblog.com
#3. I (thought at the time that Obama was going to win) now know that Obama won the presidential election of 2008.

Absolutely epic. Now my favorite episode of all time. Saw this episode referenced in today’s ep (627) and had to see for myself. There is so much greatness in this episode. I can’t get over it. Pipes is now my favorite guest you’ve ever had and the rapport between you and your dad is blueprint for how all father-son relationships ought to be. I will watch this episode with my dad tomorrow.

Favorite episode all time. Period. I cant count how many times I laughed out loud. Your dad is PRICELESS!! I demand that he come on more often. Now im not saying I dont love what you bring. I do. A lot. But they way you and your dad interact just gets me rolling on the floor. I love it. QOTD1: 55. QOTD2: My lazy front of the house manager. I KNOW shes lazy, but Id love to see to what extent over 8 hours. QOTD3: Well we know the answer, and I was rooting for him the whole time.

dad was a joy and like me cant resist debating the big picture…

    qotd 1 : 55ish

qotd 2 : Pyper was living the dream…

qotd 3 : too late we already know. luckily sanity prevailed.

found this episode by searching “Canada” – you are still really thin on Canadian themed episodes and especially Niagara stuff other than the dessert wines. Please find some time and feature Niagara a bit more this year, come and visit too!

This was indeed a fun episode. If I am not mistaken, Osoyoos (pronounced roughly like oh-soy-yus) Larose is co-owned by the Canadian firm Vincorp and by Chateau Gruaud-Larose. I was pleased with the favourable review as it my personal favourite among the wines of the British Columbia Okanagan region. When enjoyed at a local restaurant, its bouquet was noticeable, eventually, several tables away.

I will not attempt to guess Gary’s Dad’s age, but he was in excellent spirits.

Easily one of the best episodes of all times. Sasha is made from 50% charisma and 50% awesome, and easily one of the best guests ever. Sasha/Pipes 08.

I just saw this episode for the first time today. Absolutely CLASSIC. Your pops is wonderful and pipes, what can I say, amazing. In answer to her QOTD: I would like to shadow her for a day or perhaps just ride along on her wine sojurn for a day. I must check out her blog now. Classic.

so you guys talked about wineries using other fruits ( not their own) common practice within the industry. Qustion: why didyou choose an american labled wine fromtheir selections instead of a AVA designated label?

    Sasha = 62
Pipes’ QOTD: Clive Barker – ’cause he’s a renaissance man
Sasha’s QOTD: Obama, but I wish it were Nader.

    QOTD1: Mr. Vay-Ner-Chuk is ……….. 57.

QOTD2: I would like to shadow President Bush

QOTD3: Because it must be fascinating to see what a U.S. President does on a daily basis.

    QOTD4: OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!

Yo, main, I totally respect this whole wine-thing. However, (I’m not pretending) wine is either red or white, blue or green, bitter or sweet, smooth or soft. So, like whatever, you guys should really come down and begin taking cake-classes instead. CAKE RULES!
Me faire cuire au four un gâteau, mon posséder très le citron-gâteau avec le softice et le chocolat-glaçage qui ME SUIVRONT À LA MORT ! ! !

Interesting show! Pipes has got pizzazz!
QOTD 1 – I think that Sasha is 59 years old. He looks great – I met him at the Boston Wine Expo.

QOTD 2 – I would love to shadow a future Saint.

QOTD 2a – Because I would want to be around someone who gave more to the world than they ever received.

QOTD 3 – I think McCain is going to take it because the Dems don’t have a candidate that is electable in a gerneral election.

Although he could be 54 if he’s had a birthday in the last 3 months.

This has to be one of the best episodes EVER! (Although Sacha looked like he could really go off on a political rant if he was allowed!). Nice to have that Mott, Sacha, Pipes segment in the middle.

    QOTD 1 – Your dad’s 53, ’nuff said.
    QOTD 2 – Lewis Hamilton, I’d love a day of open-access F1
QOTD 3 – Obama would be nice.

The 2003 Osoyoos Larose Grand Vin is far from the best BC has to offer. The wine industry in BC is stunning! It used to be that only the hot Niagara region in Ontario was able to produce grapes, but in the last two decades BC has proven itself to produce much better wine. I’d say that the Pacific Northwest in general makes some really excellent wines, but both BC and Washington wines are rather pricey these days. Worth it, I suppose. Best BC wine I tried recently was the (now sold out from the winery) 2003? Merlot from LotusLand Winery in Vancouver—cost $25 CAD, but tasted like it should be hundreds more.

The Chateau Aux Arc should probably be pronounced as Chateau ‘Ozark’. Their awards should probably include one for clever frenchified name!

A canuck, living in france; come for a visit, taste some wine.

    QOTD#1: Sasha is…. 60.
QOTD#2: I’d want to shadow Bryan Clay or Roman Sebrle (decathletes) on their daily ‘job’ (because I am a Masters decathlete wannabe)
QOTD#3: I think Bill Richardson will surprise everyone with an unexpected upset at the Dem convention, and then win the general election in November.

    Wow!
    Just wow!
This episode has really turned me into a fan of the show.
I love it how you (Gary), your dad and Jen gets along on the show.

    Now to the QOTD’s:
    1) 60
    2) My boss, because I like his personality and his way of doing business and handling people.
    3) As I’m a Swedish citizen I haven’t really followed the pre-election stuff and I haven’t really formed an opinion.

Thanks Gary for a great show, keep up the good work!
With extraordinary episodes like this one, you are surely one of a kind.

    With best regards,
    Fredrik
