It's fun catching up on WLTV and trying to remember when it is announced that Favre had signed with the Jets. Looking forward to seeing what you think of Brett as a Jet Gary. Very disappointing that gang green missed the playoffs. Had some huge wins...pats...titans, though. Loving the Bordeaux shows as well as all the others.
  • "uhoh it's pooring" that sums up the jets season.

QOTD: Yes I know the season is over but I would have said 6-10. Even though Farve was a INT-throwing machine again this season he surprised me. I would never have guessed the Jets or the Dolphins would have been fighting for a playoff spot on the final weekend.

GV we're stoked for the cruise. I think its time to ditch the birthdays though. It drags a good bit for all not having bithdays today. And I would bet most would be willing to sacrifice their birthday announcement to not hear the list the other 364. Just my two cents. QOTD: 8-8. Respectable. Please beat the Pats.

    QOTD:

    Jets 11-5
    Bills 14-2

    Oh uh!
  • Watching this after last night's Gevrey-Chambertin episode - I can't get Pinot Noir out of my head now!

QOTD - No idea, the NFL questions are lost on me you know..
  • Kristen
Sweet episode....I was laughing my butt off. Showed this to my internship supervisor and he didn't quite know what to make of the descriptions!

You'll be proud though- I did a wine tasting class and part of it was guessing the scents from small vials. I did rather well, thanks to trying new things and expanding my palate!

QOTD: I watched this so long ago that I forget what it was, but I'll just make up numbers. 7-9
  • I'll be doing my exams while you're on your cruise!

Great show - I liked the side-by-side comparison of the different Pinots and your tasting notes were really helpful.

    QOTD: 7-9
  • MattyJ
Dude, you rock... I'm just getting into wine and I stumbled across your website researching decanters. Great episode on the Pinot Noirs... I will definitely help spread the thunder...
  • Mike S.
QOTD. 3-13, and 0-2 vs. the Fins. Chad Pennington is gonna whoop some Jets rear end.
  • Vinophile
Jets?! Here's what I have to say about the Jets: POOPY!!

    GO STEELERS!!

That being said, we'll be thrilled to raise a glass of "poopy" with you on the Thunder Cruise! Booked last weekend. WOOOHOOO!!!
  • J Crazy
    QOTD: 3-13

What's with throwing Clemens under the bus? How many "mark my words he's going to be the lord risin' to stomp on all lesser teams" (I know that wasn't a direct quote) quotes do we have from the Thunder Show?
I predict Farvrerreeevere out with a broken hip or a weak bladder or joint replacement surgery 3/4 through the season and the rest of the team falling apart after that.

My Broncos will trample, absolutely stampede this season and all lesser teams will really know what it means to be up to their neck in horse manure.

Pinot's are great and go with so much - great episode.

    QOTD: 8-8
  • Jayhitek
    QOTD: 8-8
  • QOTD: Jets 7-9. Favre 30 picks.
  • Carlitos
Gary, you never cease to amaze me!

Tallahasse is as close to Tampa or even better Miami as it is to Charlotte! Thank you!

And Montepulciano is in Tuscany. They produce Sangiovese wines. Not to be confused with the Montepulciano grape from Abruzzo. I'm sure you know all this but it's always fun when you get ahead of yourself!
  • Dan-o
GV - love the Pinots! Haven't had any of those.

QOTD - I am going to let Brett get you to 5-11 in 2008. He will be instrumental in those victories, but not enough talent to get you above .500.
  • lurker
    QOTD 3-13

Two games better than last years dolphins - although b/c of favre's slinging - Thomas is huge fantasy sniff.

Weak **s team - GO PATS!
  • Chris G
    Hi Gary
I am one of the 'England' crew and have loved the show for ever BUT I never knew that Oregon and California were different countries!?!
Keep it up and WHEN IS THE LONDON BOOK SIGNING?
  • Oakmon's BF
Bret will need to be more cautious with less familiar receivers so I expect the interceptions to be down. He’ll also want to prove himself with a new team so I expect him to have a good year. They’ll barely make the playoffs with 10 or 11 wins which is a big improvement. It’s not a bad long term move. Starting for a 4-12 team isn’t the environment to develop a young quarterback for the future. It’s better to have a veteran, who isn’t going to be around for a lot of years, take the heat while the young guys develop.
I’m looking forward to hear more about India.
Wow, I haven’t had a cinnamon stick since I was a child. I’ll need to get a hold of some.
I’ve been away and am catching up on episodes.
  • KVolk
    QOTD: 6-10 Gary....
  • SoCal
QOTD: 8-8 Farve will retire after a 4 game winning streak then un-retire for the last 4 gams of the year only after ESPN runs bret farve highlight reals 24 hours a day.....
  • Tyler Walker
Heyyyyy.....Whats up with all the "hatin" on tallahassee....by the way...we're home of the Seminoles....word
  • Sassodoro
Good show, Gary. But what about India? Are you going to talk about India in another setting? I'd like to hear about it.
  • Rich
9 - 7, though I want BF to get another ring and retire already!
  • Dr T from N. Carolina
    Interesting group of Pinots

    QOTD 10-6
  • Tria
Wow, Gary...2 poopy wines in a row! Maybe instead of a napkin, you should get some baby powder scented wet wipes on the table.

Stinkor should come out of the box and get his own little sniffy sniff wristband.

When you find a wine that smells like boat exhaust...I'm all in for that!

    Tria...the ex-lurker
  • Sandmn07
QOTD: 9-7 or 10-6...missing WC either way.
next season (with #4) 11-5, 12-4 Win Division.
  • James Roscoe
The Jets will be lucky to be 4-12. They will suck as usual.

Great wines. Stick with what you know.
  • Herb
I'm a lifetime Tampa Bay fan, and your little dig on the Bucs did not go unnoticed. It's a good thing your Jets are not playing the Bucs this year because, if they were, Mr. Farve would get his booty flattened so deep into the turf you couldn't scraped him up with a Zamboni. ;-)

    QOTD: 3 - 13
  • Great, great episode. I have a Sta. Rita Hills Pinot in my cellar, and it's new, a Rusack. In fact, it's the one listed in Gary's Book. So I'm excited. But better than that, I'm excited that my beautiful wife Concepcion and this humble fellow Vayniac are going on the cruise!!
  • I am feeling the Jets doing well this year.

    11 - 5

    and a wildcard spot.
  • QOTD: Don't make me answer this question Gary, you know where my allegiance lies...but in all seriousness, I feel the Jets have what it takes to be a 10-6 team, and it may be even enough to claim the AFC wild card others in the North or South falter. Unfortunately, they must eventually face the steamroller that is the New England Patriots!!!

Great show as usual Gary! You're bringing straight THUNDER as always!
  • Barry
Always knew most of the country thinks of California as being another country. This confirms it.

Don't forget that Farve is the all time leading interception leader, or as some say, a turnover machine. He'll lose as many as he'll win for you with his reckless throws.
  • Deano
good episode Gary. I like watching the taping on Ustream as well its sweet.

    QOTD:
    - probably 8-8
  • Hi Gary,

Great show!! The winemaker for Ampelos Cellars is Peter Work.
    Cheers!

    QOTD: 15-1

The Jets will be defeated by the Tennessee Titans on November 23, two days after my birthday. Come on down, Thunderous One, i've got your ticket covered.
  • Right on with the ampelos pinot noir. Although I have to disagree with your final conclusion. The winemaker is Peter and Rebecca's Son who also happens to be the assistant winemaker of SEA SMOKE. I was very interested in this winery because they happen to be bio-d as well. After tasting it I have to say that it is a spoofulated wine. Too much extraction and way to much hang time for a Santa Rita Pinot to truly display terroir. This is no wonder since that is exactly what you would expect from a SEA SMOKE. No uniqueness, and a disappointment to the soul of this beautiful vineyard.
  • Hi GV, hmmm I'm going to go with 10-6 for your NY Jets this year. I hope they do well, really!
Booo on poop emanating from the 1st 2 pinots. I'm not into the funk which is just Brett anyway.
