It's great when Gary's laugh gets away from him, starts at 3:13, then goes Stewie Griffin-like at 3:15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuNVv0C2wuw Don't worry Gary, we love it!

QOTD: Hey what happened to no politics?! I'd like to see a peaceful Israel. Who was it that said the best compromise is when both parties leave having conceded something?
  • Darl
Wow, this is great! As someone who keeps kosher I really appreciated this! Great Show!!
  • Daniel Rogov's new book, Rogov's Guide to Kosher Wines is now available! This is the first, comprehensive guide to kosher wines from around the world. Dont' miss it:

    wow..great guest.....impressive show....

What a great show, Mr. Rogov is very entertaining and educating.

Gary, I want you to taste another Kosher wine that I think can rank up with your top wines:

Dalton Merlot 2006 (not the Alma)

It's a $25 bottle but it can compete with many more expensive wines I have tasted.

http://www.snooth.com/image/dalton-canaan-2006/ (just so you don't mix it up with the Alma or the Canaan)

QOTD: It sure will, and will multiply in size and power. And we as wine lovers should hope so since the region is still young and has great potential, and we have seen what has happened to the fields in the Gush Katif region after they have been handed over to "them"...

This was a great episode. Loved Rogov as a guest. Perfect.

    QOTD: I hope so.

Wow! What a great show and what an interesting person Daniel Rogov is. I very much enjoyed this show. Unlike many other shows where Gary won't shut up, he actually listened to his guest and interacted with him. Maybe that is simply an indication of how awed Gary was to be with Daniel. Anyway, these are the type of shows that keep bringing me back to WLTV. Super job, Gary!

QOTD: I suspect that Israel will indeed exist in 75 years, but I am quite sure that I will not. ;-)
  • Gary,
Unbelievably entertaining show! I've corresponded with Rogov several times in my own wine journey and this was a great treat for me. I also have to say that I'm jealous of you for getting hit on the back of the head by one of the greatest wine connoisseurs in the world!

    QOTD:
Contrary to what Lawrence Leichtman wrote above, something to the effect that Golan wines have a bleak future because the land obviously must be returned to Syria, I would say rather that it is obvious that the land can and never will be surrendered to Syria if for no other reason than the existence of these wineries themselves.

For the few people who commented that Israel will not exist in 75 years I can only pray that you are wrong because that could only mean that another holocaust had occurred.

Great stuff! Daniel is a wonderful person with a great personality. Color me jealous because you two looked like you had a great time and I wish I could have been part of it. I really, really need to look into Kosher wines. You keep ranting about them and Im still not listening. QOTD: I sure hope so, because its of significant importance on a religious and cutural level.
  • Toni
QOTD: As long as US exists, Israel will.
  • JJ
Great show - haven't tuned in for a while because, as a kosher wine drinker, your program became something of a tease for me. So you can understand whey I really loved this show. Rogov has real old school charm.
  • Jason S.
    QTOD: yes

That was awesome. Rogov is a charmer - you may have met your match GV.
  • Dan-o
I enjoyed the show. An entertaining and knowledgeable guest. Liked the way that he said - Byou-tee-ful.

    QOTD - Yes
  • Gert
    Hi
Im not jewish or israeli but my favorite wine jest hapend to be kosher.

    Barkan Superior Cabernet Sauvignon

Gary you should have on the show.

All the best forget the rest.
  • Oliver
What a treat to hear Mr Rogov talk about wine. I just got back from Israel (I'm converting, first trip) and I had amazing wines! And to answer his question, I'll make dammed sure of it.
  • yowens
Great guest, what a genuinely nice guy. I like that he does doubles of his tastings for to control for self- error. QOTD: Yeah, I like that one lady that's like 1/2 president
  • Eli
Great guest. Very personable guy. And the two of you make a very good pair.

QOTD: As an American, I find it strange when citizen rights get allocated to people based on their race or religion. So hopefully, Israel will exist in 75 years, but as a democratic country where the indigenous people have the same rights as the European immigrants.
  • mindpirate
Incredible show, I learned a lot.

    QOTD: Yes definitely.
  • innA
Fantastic guest and show - you can tell how much fantastic wine knowledge Daniel has.. even from just a few mins. I have no idea about Kosher, or Kosher wines, but still found it interesting.
  • Howie K
    ABSOLUTELY
  • cool episode... i knew nothing about kosher wines before other than AVOID.... I'll have to EXPAND MY PALATE!

    QOTD: Viva La Israel!
  • Eric Z.
I've seen about 100 WLTV episodes, and the bacon moment is the funniest so far. Classic.
  • The Original Marc
Great episode! Rogov is pretty cocky, which reminds me of most of the old Jewish men that I know, and I like it. In other words, he reminds me of my grandfathers.

QOTD: You betcha. We fight a lot better and smarter than our enemies.
  • YoungDave
Great episode with "Danny Boy" Rogov! This is a guest that MUST make a return appearance in the nest few months! It's also about time quality kosher wines had their showcase.

QOTD: Wow. Well for all of my neighbors here in Beverly Hills (adjacent), I hope so... and I genuinely think it most certainly will exist.
  • Mr. Shankly
Greatly enjoyed (Mr.) Rogov's wit and wisdom...a future incarnation of yourself, perhaps...and for the record, I thought you were a brash irreverent kid when I first caught your act too. Luckily, I stayed with it and came to appreciate the Thunder's brand of intellect very much!!
  • CBone
QOTD: Not if conservatives continue to disbelieve in global warming. If we can stop that, then yes is my answer. If people of this world continue to do nothing about it, then no is my answer. We all live or die together.
  • ex-lurkdawg
Thank you both for the great episode! I really liked seeing the two of you interact and discuss the wines.

qotd: I don't have enough knowledge of the situation to give a fair answer. I do think (since you asked) that since the US played such a part in creating the situation that exists over there, they will always make sure Israel continues to exist. So my answer is yes.
  • Marcelo
Daniel and Gary, Gary and Daniel:

You are INCREDIBLE!!! And together you add balance and complexity to your own comments.

    Good stuff!
  • GeneV
    Oh, and QOTD: Absolutely
  • GeneV
Great to see Rogov. I've read him for years. Thanks for this one.
  • AVP
Some huge guests you're having these days!
  • SS Chris
Now THAT was a great episode......how great is Daniel Rogov? but who was the little guy with him? :)

Seriously, you two were great together....I see a buddy movie in your future. :)

and very interesting wines. That was EXCELLENT!!! Kudos!!
  • AaronB
Excellent episode! Educational and entertaining. Rogov was great!

QOTD: Most likely, but all the conflict will still be around as well (as it has been for centuries).
  • Dan Manu
QOTD: it will exist but not as an exclusively Jewish state... hopefully it will one day exist as a functioning fully representative democracy.
  • Lau
Super show! And what a great guest, you guys really rock together. Keep'em coming.
  • chuy
awesome show gary, i have a new understanding on kosher wines , i always poopoo'ed kosher juice but im gonna keep an open mind on these wines. Cutler's a sissy!! GO CHARGERS!
  • Brilliant episode, I've liked Rogov for a couple of years now and enjoyed his '08 Israeli Wine Guide. I'm in Israel in a couple of weeks and hope to try a few more good wines.

QOTD - Yes, let's put it this way... if it doesn't, then a whole lot of bad will have happened.

    L'chaim!
  • Derek F
    Loved this show, GREAT guest!!

    QOTD: Hopefully
  • J Mize
Great show, not very knowledgeable about kosher wine. Thanks gary for continuing to avoid ever being in the box!

QOTD: Hopefully, they deserve there own state.
  • tomo
The guests are adding a new dimension to the blog which is taking it to another level. Here, the cross-generational dialogue was priceless. He put you in your place, in a good way. Great work on guest selection, this is hopefully the future of WLTV.
