OK, 4 player Gauntlet? By far the best reference you made in any episode so far. AWESOME!
  • I love the smell of pampers swadlers diapers fresh out of the box. I have 3 kids.

QOTD: LOL... no never, I just get the run around
  • JD in DC
    Enjoyed the guest. Nice show.
  • Dan-o
Good show! I don't have much experience with Muscat. Guest was interesting. I couldn't tell if he was very mellow, or arrogant. Hard to read. Seemed knowledgeable.

QOTD - I am not sure whether I have ever tried, but I can tell it annoys Mr. Orange.
  • EVO was great. Loved the QOTD. My answer: Hell no! But Eric should have at least watched one episode before coming on the show. As founder & organizer of St. Louis Wine & Dine Meetup Group, I use LocalWineEvents.com a lot. Great site!!!!

Gary!!! You don't have a dog??? You need one!!!!

Dogs are people, too!!! Boxers are good with babies!

Get a rescued Boxer! And then let the VaynerNation name it!!! How cool would that be?
  • I have never watched this show before but thought Eric was terrific. Calm, professional & well versed.

Eric, I used to use you guys when I was in DC. Although the events were too expensive for my far from abundant student budget, I still think the work you do is great. And seeing you on this episode has reminded me to check out what you have as far as the wine scene in Munich, where I now currently live.
  • Cuse Wino
    QOTD- not once

Glad he got to promote his website and I will look it up but don't feel like he added much else. Maybe if he is really into Cali Cabs that should have been the topic and would have had him more into it.
  • Missy Pissy
Wow - some of you are pretty &*^#%^n' harsh - Eric may not be Gary Vee but he is an honest and likable dude - lighten up haters! I think it was a good spot, so kudos to all!
    Missy
p.s. www.LocalWineEvents.com is a great resource for all food & wine events - love it!!
  • Best example in a long time of how guests can be such a bad idea. A new low for this boring, boring fellow.
  • mjr
good show. good guest. i'll check out his site now.
you scored two wines as an 89. were they equal for you? couldn't you have compared them again?
as always thanks for the show

QOTD: No I haven't but I was wondering about that to a few weeks back.
  • Sassodoro
Eric, I'm a Juice subscriber and I use the site all the time. Thanks!

Regarding dry muscat, it was a total surprise to me to find that it pairs great with sage-butter sauces. I had it with cheese ravioli in sage-butter sauce. Awesome.

Decent show, not great. Your guest could use just a little more energy when making a TV appearance, but he was cool. I checked out his site. Nice idea.

QOTD: I use a Mac at home, so my computer doesn't give me useless popups. I'm forced to use a PC at work, but everything there is so locked down I can't do anything to fix it, anyway. Short answer: No.
  • apj_bobswineguy
Eric: used to get an email from you guys.
Love the re-do of the site. I have not logged on in some time.
I must have been in the 1st group of localwineevents users and did not even know it.
    clueless. great show tonight

QOTD: No. I click "Ignore" if I have a choice between finding a solution & ignoring the problem.

I've used the Local Wine Events site. Thanks.
  • Esther W.
There's green papaya and the orange/yellow papaya. Which one were you referring to?
    QOTD: nope!
  • Couves
I'll have to try and find the Portuguese one - I've had the Adega de Pegoes Blanco and it sounds like it's similar to the Muscat reviewed here, but without the flowers (pineapple is dominant). I think Blanco is a blend with mostly Fernando Pires, an indigenous Portuguese grape that is similar to muscat. That part of Portugal - Terras da Sado - also produces great sweet muscats. Bacalhoa makes a great one for about $15 with good acid.

Comparing Muscat to Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders is a stretch. Those guys are two of the best athletes in the world who conquered everything in the path. Big words for Muscat... Perhaps a better analogy to Muscat would be a pitcher who has 3 or 4 great pitches-such as Pedro (back in the day) or Tim Lincecum.
  • Dick M
    Need to try some Muscat!
OMG, I wish the guests watched a show before they made their appearance.

    QOTD: No
  • BBBear
Informative show and a good reminder about Muscats...

    QOTD - not a chance...
  • stump
Great guest - this guy has a sense of humor and an interesting career story.

QOTD - Who the fuck would click on a pop-up?
  • pawncop
A very good episode, and a very cool guest. Recently had a Beringer Muscato and was really quite surprized that it had character and was not bad at all.

    QOTD - Nope.
  • Great guest. really liked his down to earth - casual attitude. Thanks for sharing his site -- wow, nice stuff!

I like Muscat - we use in our Carolina Comfort blend. Really good alone also.

I don't mind him not knowing about QOTD, he was a great guest!
    Qotd: NO

    QOTD: Kinda sorta ya. Maybe.

Not exactly "MR. Excitement", but I liked his analysis of the wines and I checked out his web site and became a fan on FB. Nice job!

QOTD: You're kidding, right? Of course not!
  • Kittysafe
Gauntlet was HUGE when it came out, a bit expensive, so I couldn't play it that much, but even now I think back fondly when someone says out loud: WARRIOR SHOT THE FOOD.
  • Hey Guys,

I enjoyed the spot and now would like to give a nice Muscat a try soon.
Happy hyper Gary and a lower key Eric were actually a nice balance - a bit of yin and yang working here.

Also, Eric and his wife Kate (the white wine lover) are personal friends of mine, and he does really does drink white wine - I have witnessed it! :)

    Cheers ALL!

    QOTD - no
  • I've been using LWE for a couple years. Great site and service. QOTD - no.
  • Jim in Atlanta
I get Eric's newletter and like the question of the week. QOTD - No. I recently ordered some Muscat from Navarro, which I hope to try soon.
  • QOTD: No. Nice question. Very nice.
  • Andy
qotd ---- no solution ... no dice .

Nice ep G ..... need to try a Muscat again
  • WineWoman
QOTD: Never clicked on it. Afraid it would lead to needing a solution that wasn't necessary in the first place.
  • pacw808
QOTD: in general no, that type of pop-up is generally not helpful for me. It usually says something inane which makes me wonder why I bothered. Sometimes I will click on them to see if they offer more than ordinary wisdom, just for kicks.

To Eric Orange: Thank you! You helped gain my entrance onto the Thunder Cruise when I won tickets through facebook using localwineevents.com. I had a great time! I follow several cities/regions through the Juice newsletter, but wish that I could have added another city recently when I went out of state (The Grand Cru version seemed to only want me to delete, not add). More retailers, distributors, restaurants etc. should put their events on your site (that's the way it works, Eric does not do it for them, too hard to keep track of the whole world!). I know I should mention it around here to those places that I think have events they could list.

And I love Moscato d'Asti, especially Marco Negri, Sarraco, Nivole (Michele Chiarelo). I think almost any muscat can be good (dry to sweet) as long as it does not go cloyingly sweet or molasses on the flavors, with enough acid to keep it balanced. I love peach, apricot, honey flavors in general, so I'm a bit biased. I had an orange muscat from Texas which was very interesting, full of orange peel scents and flavors.

Good show, nice to see wedding bands are in. QOTD:I don't know, never used them.
  • Been a subscriber to The Juice (Beijing, Shanghai, Inland Empire) for a looooong time! It's a great newsletter...sign up peeps!

    QOTD: popup free...all are blocked
  • I should clarify the QOTD.
I did not mean general pop-ups.

    Often when running a program, like QuickBooks or Outlook, and others, there comes an error message pop-up that says something to the effect of;
"This program has stopped working. Click here to check online for a solution and close program".
I would really like to have the "solution", but alas, nada.

    Thanks for all the comments.
