A very inexpensive Portuguese wine that I buy is Grilos. Cost is about $10 bones and it is a great red from the Dao region.

Curious that the Crasto is said to be too oaked! It sees no oak at all, so I wonder what you were tasting. It should also be noted that it has been selected as “wine of the year” by one of the Disney Sommeliers and the Reserve is #3 in the Wine Spectator’s list of Top 100 Wines of the Year. Did you have an off bottle perhaps? Also, your banner says the wine is unavailable, yet it is widely available and one of our most popular wines of all! Try it again some day.

Very informative. I will be buying more Portuguese and trying it out. Agree that it is underrated.

I wonder what kind of audience he had at EPCOT? Was it all underage kids or college kids in Disney costumes?

No roller costers for any of these folks, I’m assuming.

    Great show Gary,

I’ve been making it a point to purchase different imports on a regular bases. The challenge with mixing it up all the time is remember or always keeping a record of the wines. Good problem to have though.

And the video! You guys delivered with the video quality. Do yourself a favor next time and wear some sun glasses. Your futures so bright, you gotta wear shades… I know, that was pretty nerdy.

QOTD: Disney characters are like wine, so many types and choices it’s hard to have a favorite. Mickey is always a great classic choice but Buzz is pretty cool too.

Found your show about a year ago and really enjoy it, very good information on wines.I have been into wines for over 20 plus years and still leaarning about themm and watching your show always helps. My question is ,when are you coming to Houston Tx. they have a huge wine and liqour store downtown. This store is Spec’s Wine and Liquor and it is one of the biggest store this west of the Mississippi River. You can darn near find anything you want( huge place).Hope you can make it to Houston one day, love to see ya! Keep up the great work, Come on down!

Great show on Portugese wines. I have been shy about exploring them and you gave me a good jumping off point. Enjoyed the crowd and the variety of palates was interesting.

Nice, i’d say the best Portugese wine i’ve had so far is the white 2008 Quinto d’Alqueve from Fernao Pires:
