This was definitely the worst episode of wine library tv in show history. GV was feeling himself a little too much with the Sopranos intro.

AMAZING! Gotta love the Sopranoâ??s intro!

Didn’t I see something like this once at a Jets game? All you need is that Jets fireman hat and you are all set.

Good luck against Buffalo this weekend!

    Woops.. Vaynerchuk. sorry Gary.

Very nice intro and show. Dont remember the video but definitely the song. Heres a new twist: WLTV (like Happy Days) filmed in front of a live studio audience. I would make the 4 hour trip to see that. I should make it anyway because buying wines in PA sucks. The wine that I will never drink again which should come as no suprise due to past postings is chardonnay. Maybe Im one sided but what the hell.

Today’s episode shows the store and Gary mentions his Dad. Below is a comment that I posted on yesterday’s episode and it talks about the store and Gary’s Dad as well. I wanted to make sure that people saw this post, so I posted again (apologies if you’ve read it already)

    WLTV Viewers,
As Gary said, we met today. You can not believe how different Gary is from his â??facadeâ? on WLTV. Heâ??s a poser. I came off the elevator and he was berating, borderline abusing, several employees. Then, when I was introduced, he waved me off and walked away. It was as if I was â??NO SOUPEDâ? (my 2nd â??no soup for youâ? reference).

Just kidding of course. Gary was as gracious and approachable as you all imagine he would be and it was great to finally meet him after many emails.
Whomever has not had a chance to visit the storeâ?¦YOU NEED TO. WL is an amazing store and Iâ??m not just speaking about the esthetics. Usually, retailers are strong in some areas(great selection), but weak in others (poor customer service)â?¦.there is almost always some kind of trade-off. Not so at WL. Here are the attributes IMHO:
    -The store is beautiful
-The climate controlled â??Wine Roomâ? is â??off the chartsâ? gorgeousâ??see Ep #4 for a Tour)
    -The selection is incredible
-The service is truly remarkable-there are like 30 people on the floor..all with GREAT attitudesâ?¦all very helpful..and all with great knowledge.
-AND, with all of this â??VALUE ADDâ?, the prices are the BEST!!!

I live 15 miles away, but will NEVER go to another store for wine.

GARY, I congatulate you and your father on a remarkable achievementâ?¦you both deserve all your success!! (please forward this note to your Dad).

Gary, where was the Cigar????? I will fix that when I come up from Tampa to visit..hope you are a cigar lover. I have an OpusX with your name on it:) You have outdone yourself on this episode. One thing I don’t get, aren’t you 30 something?? Where did the Pat Benatar come from?? I am 43 and she ran when I was in my teens/early20’s. I remember when she was doing the club circuit, along with the Pretenders, Joanne Jet…ect. Heck I even saw some of those people right in Jersey clubs near you. In any case great episode there Gary…I LOVED IT!

QOTD….just like you said in your closing statement….”having fun with wine”.. or something like that…lolol….I don’t think there is any wine I “HATE” or have gotten “MAD” about. Maybe some I am not found of but wine is much to much fun to hate.

This episode was classic!!! And hell yeah I remember the video, back when MTV actually played videos. Love that you got the Pat Benetar “Thriller” shake in the video segment, that was the best part. Next, I felt like I was driving to work, don’t ever do that to me again, damnit!! I’m a frequent driver on 24 and 287.
QOD Don’t know that I’ve had a wine that pissed me off, and that I would never drink again. I have been disappointed with wines that I’ve liked in past years, but isn’t that the nature of the game? If I must chose, I would say the I would never again purchase Chateau Lyonnat. Got it at the Library on another customers recommendation and ended up dumping it in the “crapper”. (Because that’s where crap goes, right!?!).

    Gary,

Great episode, thanks for pimpin’ this one out and keeping us satisfied for the weekend.

Chateau De Leelanau Chardonnay (from north Michigan) it made me want to launch the glass as far away from my face as possible when I took a whiff.

I should probably make it clear that I’ve had many, many recommended wines at the Wine Library, and have found some true gems because of those recommendations. So give a shout out to your staff for me.

Great episode! Enjoyed the Sopranos intro, and hittin me with Pat’s best shot – big fun! QOD – Boone’s Farm of course – too many episodes of nausea at 18 before I knew (and could afford) better. No two buck chuck in 1971 – Thunderbird was 40 cents, or twenty twice.

Gary, I just love the surprises you continue to bring to WLTV. GREAT EPISODE. It’s nice to hear personal thoughts concerning your family. It’s good to hear you’re as passionate about them as you are your beloved Jets. Kudos to you for keeping it all in perspective. I’m off to the website to purchase your 96 pointer Merlot.

    Keep the energy going…

Nice way to start a weekend, Thanks dude.

Haven’t been drinking wine long enough to have a hate yet when it comes to the product. What I do hate is restaurants that have lousy wines by the glass at â??we think you are stupidâ? prices. I also hate wine lists that have lousy cheap wines listed at 4 to 5 times their retail value.

I was in a pub/restaurant in Sandpoint, ID a few weeks back and they had at least 35 wines available by the glass and they were fairly priced. Good food, live music, great wine. This was a block from the Pend d’Oreille winery whom I visited the next morning. GREAT blended wines, and an outstanding syrah.

BTW if the 2-0 Pats suck, where exactly does that leave the 0-2 Jets?

    Gary,
    Loved the Soprano’s opening.
However, this Pat Benatar thing is disturbing. You gotta get some help for that. Perhaps you have been snorting too much wine. Maybe it is depression brought on perpetual the perpetual strife of a New York Jets fan.

I think I have a cure for you. Sit back this Sunday with a nice bottle of that Corte Riva and watch the Pittsburgh Steelers romp up on the Bengals!

Wine that I am fed up with (really a producer) is Veramonte. Been a love/hate relationship, some years have been great, others have absolutely sucked. I am fed up and just don’t buy it anymore!

    Malvasia $9.00 a bottle

This wine, made from late harvest fruit, has an unforgettable floral aroma and a taste that lingers on the palate.

It is characterized as a rich dessert wine with hints of honey, tropical fruits and a touch of spice.

good gawd…after the reference yesterday and the clip today all i can think is that since you’re about 7 or 8 years younger than me you must have been at an incredibly impressionable age when ms. benatar was mainstream pop (it wasn’t good then either!). yeesh, seek help gary! 🙂 a neat episode though. someone mentioned recently that you haven’t had a guest in a long while…you really ought to interview your dad. i know i’m curious. certainly, i’ve said it before: you deserve all the success you reap from wl.
qod: piat d’or, black tower and blue nun. good gawd on those too! my parents’ ideas of good wine.

Well you really confused me on the pinot noir from Hungary. You start by saying it’s good, then it’s a pass. You taste asian spice, to which I previously asked, which ones. Then you say the finish is acidic and flabby, which is generally a characteristic of low acidity.

BTW, did yo get the book?

Great Episode! I really enjoy listening to you and oh yeah your reviews. One question, did you tape the drive scenes on a Saturday? Where was the traffic? My wife and I love WLTV and are curious when you are going to network or cable? Until then we want tickets to your first WLTV live studio audience.

Have a great weekend! Go Browns!
