So…..the 1st vintage year for Neils and Co. was 2001–what did Neils do before he started his vineyard? He had to learn from someone.Who taught him his winemaking skillz? Did he apprentice at someone else’s vineyard in S.A., go to school, or is it a family tradition that was passed down, or something?

Niels was winemaker at next door Beaumont Winery from 1995, prior to that he studied at Elsenburg -the local winemakers college then made wines in France, Chile, New Zealand & Australia.

good episode Gary. That is a winery I’d like to visit, if I ever go to S. Africa. I really like that he’ll have you right in his house to sit down and taste wine w him. Much more appealing then that sterile huge formal setting at some of those massive wineries.
Gary, how about a vin jaune episode, or one on tasting the different Napa charbono’s out there?
