  • Gary, dropped you a vote on Valleywag. But don’t get the wrong idea about me. 🙂 Our former PR person was in a contest on that site. Great stuff there.

Wow, Veoh muffed your name spelling twice – once on the video, once on the site. Oh well. Still a very cool video. I’d love to see you do an episode or two inside the main part of your store. Maybe on the main floor, and let a customer walk up and try one of the wines with you, to compare notes. Or maybe shoot upstairs in one of those cool winery-looking rooms. Might be a fun change-up.

By the way, Jumpman. Does comment 101 win? Or just comment 1?

  • The very first bottle of wine I dropped in front of the wine store in Austin, TX in 1968 was a 1966 St. Emilion. When the shopkeeper saw that he gave me another bottle of the same thing so that started a long warm fuzzy with St. Emilion. Still my preference over most other wines from the Bordeaux region and usually a better price break. Thanks for the heads up on the Lamande. Favorite snack is anything with cheese and I found my youngest son’s old Nintendo game and it was labeled Jumpman. Oh well way too late.

Wow, Gary, that’s a damn good picture of you on the VLOGHOT site!

You know, I remember seeing at least one episode (back in the 40-60 range) in which your name was printed on the screen w/ a big fat “C” before the “K”… tsk, tsk.

QOD: I guess I have a pretty severe oral fixation because I’m CONSTANTLY snacking. I eat chips, I suck on hard candy, I smoke a pipe, and sometimes when I’ve got nothing else that does the trick I sip on Worchestershire sauce or hot sauce or even wasabi. So, picking a single favorite snack is difficult for me, but there are a few that I return to again and again:

Candy: sassafras hard candy, Jujubes (not too sweet to eat in quantity), chocolate-covered pretzels
    Snackfood: pretzel sticks, pistachios
Healthy: fresh spinach leaves dipped in homemade dressing, celery w/ peanut butter

QOTD: Doritos – Toasted Corn Flavor (the original)

Has anyone heard of a movie called Lost Highway?
It starts out really spooky and intrguing, and when it’s
over you have no idea what the hell happened.
Drink heavily before pressing play if you want to enjoy that one!

Nice job Kahuna! Jumpman, yes, of course.

Sorry I got to this late. My favorite snack is whole unroasted cashews. What I eat are pretzels, particularly with sesame seeds. Or most any cheese. Or Snickers.

QOTD: This is disgusting, but I’ve always loved Snyders Cheese Curls or the softer Cheetos.

  • Good, dunk the Parkerized bas****s 😉 ! Last St.Emil I had was again a Clos Fourtet, mmm, that one was nice. Another movie that started great but really came to nothing in the end: Kingdom of heaven. Beginning just tremendous, the end … well, it sucks.
Anyway, QOTD: Snickers, definitely, but I want to try the new tastes. Didn’t hae one yet.

Are you freaking kidding me? Full Metal Jacket, while the ending was not as explosive as the start, did not fall off at all, the summation of the story was profound, just not as exciting as the start.

Wow, Eric NAILED the film analogy on the 2001 Chateau Peby Faugeres. I know that Gary has brought up this analogy in more recent episodes to no avail, but Eric is spot on with the “Full Metal Jacket” reference here, the first half of that movie is perfect, and the second half is a total let down.

This is why I scour the archives for episodes before my time, because I yearn for moments like these in WLTV history.
