Cool topic, that Baron Herzog sounds like a great bargain, I’ll have to check out the winery next time I drive through Oxnard (have you tasted any of their other stuff?). Also, those wristbands are fresh- sort of Bjorn Borg meets the drummer from Journey. A photo will be on the way upon their arrival to my house.

QOD: My weird reference point is “carpet store.” There’s a wine characteristic that some new world Cali wines I’ve come across have, both white and red, that smells like when you first walk into a carpet store. It’s sort of a cross between paint/pickle juice/horseradish, and tastes like ass.

Thanks for continuing to expand my wine world. Kosher wines: I wouldn’t have thought about them. I’m going to try the Baron Herzog Cabernet just to see what your talking about. Not sure I’ll like it, but I’ll have a reference point!

Forgot my QOTD: This past weekend I said that a wine smelled like the pink dust left behind on the Double Bubble gum wrapper. I could NEVER have pulled that out of my brain before watching WLTV.

SS….it’s OK, wallow in the moment, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…..QOTD is probably not original but the first time I told the pourer behind the counter that it smelled like horsepoop it was not met with applause. Thanx GV for introducing another niche in the wine market….

Gary, Interesting episode, something I had never even considered looking for.
QOTD-” Well it’s better than winemaker wine” A horrible wine that I had from Moldova that was in a really cool bottle. It was so bad I wouldn’t even give it to Chad Pennington. However, it is the 1st tasting note I have in my wine journal that I started 3/24/06. Looking back through the old notes I have really come a long way in understanding wine in the last year. I owe that to you THANKS!!!!!
