Ver Good episode. Four more wines on my ‘Wines to Buy’ list.
    Your doing a terrific job.

QOTD: How about doing an episode on one of your ‘Six Mix’ value packs.

QOTD: How about an episode on Tawny Port? Ports have really been neglected a bit, if you ask me, and tawny ports are much more interesting to impatient consumers like myself.

Chateau Reynella Old Cave Tawny Port (16194)
Hardy’s Whiskers Blake Tawny Port (60210)
    Warre’s 10 Year Tawny Port Optima (30539)
Taylor Fladgate 10 Year Tawny Port (59840)

The first wine looks like a tequila bottle.

Itâ??s a hip hop kid in the house today! Love the jacket. This, I feel, is the true Gary style. After last weekâ??s crazy hairdos, I feel like weâ??re getting the real thing here.

I like how you lined up the bottles today â?? like a little fortress of wine.

QOTD: Itâ??s springtime: do a Rosé episode!

I love the values! Always a good Ep. in my book when I can afford all of the wines, especially when Big G. enjoys them as well.

QOTD: 1.) “Spain: the Value Land…but only for the next few years” -Let’s face it- Spain is producing some of the best wines in the world, and the vast majority of them are STEALS compared to similar quality from Napa, France, etc. I know you’ve done episodes on Priorat, Rioja, and one with Robert Mondavi Jr. about his new company’s Spanish portfolio, but I think you can put together an episode with some La Mancha wines, explain Tempranillo a bit, and taste some CAVA that is as good as many $40+ Champagne for 1/4 the price.

2.) “The World’s Sparkling Wines…And Not a Single Champagne” -This is in the same thought as the CAVA portion of the previous suggestion because Cava is a huge bargain right now, and I know you have a few excellent favorites (besides Feixenet). This episode would also highlight some bargain Proseccos, South African sparklers, and any other non-traditional sparkling wine-producing areas.

3.)”Rose Wines: DON’T Confuse Them With White Zin!” -There’s some interesting info to be learned about the different ways of making Rose sparkling wines, whether it be by allowing the pressed juice to lay up against the Pinot Noir skins for the first 24 hours of fermentation, or by adding Pinot to the wine post-fermentation. As for non-sparkling Rose, I’ve been seeing some Rose of Cabernet (Mulderbosch) and some other odd wines. This could be interesting.

Just a few thoughts. Best of luck with choosing an episode.

I subscribe through iTunes and got last week’s episode, too. Good thing my neighbor is allowing me to pirate their wireless today, so I could watch through the site. I am hoping that the iTunes episode will be fixed, though, because I like to save the episodes. Is that creepy?

Really I just like to go back and choose a good wine as budget allows, so this one’s definitely a keeper.

QOTD 1: I love the ideas for unknown varietals– pinotage sounds interesting. I also think the staff picks for wine-and-food was a great idea. I’m not adding any new ideas b/c I’m tired and I need a snack (not an uncommon occurance).

Great Episode. I like being able to drink wine with dinner as often as possible so I am always on the hunt for good value wines.

QOTD: ’05 Beaujolais. I had one last week and it seemed pretty interesting. Though that was admittedly after drinking many glasses of other wines. I would enjoy a sober perspective on it.

Interesting comment on the Petit Syrah. It was created by crossing Peloursin and Syrah grapes by Dr. Francios Durif by whose last name it is known in it’s native France. The berries are smaller and more tannic than Syrah but are not COMPLETELY unrelated to Syrah.
QOTD- more Italian value wines, me likey. Thanks.

    QOTD:
    1. I think the obscure grape should be the theme. How about some Portuguese reds. Certainly not many of us are familiar with their indigenous grapes only found there! I attended a Portuguese wine event on Sunday and I was pleasantly surprised. How about:
    a. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=3208
    b. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29718
    c. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29836
    d. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=29935
    e. http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30392
    2. Altenatively another blind tasting would also be fun.

    Cheers!

QOTD: Some suggestions; 1) ice wine, 2) supposedly there are quality box wines out there (I doubt that WL sells them but if you should do maybe you could give one or two a whirl) and 3) rumor has it that spring is here and summer is just around the corner so how a about suggesting some Roses and lighter summer wines to stock up on before the season.

    Great episode!!!
I would give people what they want. Give them a pinot episode with a twist:
Try pinots from totally different areas of the world all under 20 bones:
    One from New Zealand: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=28840
    One from France (alsace): http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=9896
    One from Chili: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30982
    One from Canada: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=5073
Even from Germany, that Ian scored a 91: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30555
