uhhhh…marrying your sibling??….a little vayner-insest….something you want to tell us??

  • Gary,

    Great show!
I was wondering if you might be able to hit on some Argentenian Wines like “Catena Alta Chardonnay #8613” and maybe some more up and coming Malbecs.
I love the Catena Alta Chardonna and I am curious to know where it stands among other Chards in it’s category.

Good to have you back G!
I hope you have other locations for WL offline tastings in the future.
If you do Tampa, Austin, Dallas, LA…I am in!
QOTD: Working in a family business, as I am sure you are aware just feels right. Nothing makes me happier than working hard for my father.

  • The Grackle

I have never married my sibling.

QOTD: I’ve decided that going to med-school and beyond must always have been what I was meant to do. It’s amazing how everything fell into line for me as soon as I made the decision to go for it.

Hey Gary, to go along with the bride w/ the HUGE punt, maybe you should review the Demeter Furmint “v” 2005 (WL code#30308). It is tall and slim as can be and has no punt at all. What’s more, it ROCKS! I was going to put in an order for some more of it (and I really wish that I could), but I think the Vayniacs should get a shot at it before it disappears. Also, I reviewed it on cork’d.com, and I’m curious to see if you’ll like it as much as I did.

In regards to the NV shipping issue, is there anything I can do??? What is the specific problem? Can I write to anybody or put together a petition to get it cleared up?

I don’t know about the QOTD, but I wanted to second Wildebeest’s point on the Demeter Furmint “v”. It is really really interesting.

Gary…..Disturbing today….lol…”first”..Did I hear you say something about “Retiring”. How the Heck are we going to continue “changing the wine world” without a little bit of “you”…..ugh!! And, second, the obvious “Marrying your sibling” thing. Scary!! But to answer the QOTD….Climbing into a 2000 Dodge Viper RT/10 for the first time, taking a test ride….and saying …”Yeaaahh “this” feels just right….I’ll buy it!!

QOTD: Marrying my sibling??? As right as that?!?

Earlier in my career, I came across a gentleman who worked on one of my manufacturing lines – good employee but he was messing up consistently in a couple of areas. I found out later that he could not read. He was 63. I helped him get into an adult reading program.

Gary, I might be able to help you out a bit with the response you got in Chicago about you looking better in person. I work in the film industry here in La La Land, went to film school blah blah blah. The lighting on your show is terrible. You’re basically lit from above by nasty fluorescent lights which castes some pretty bad shadows on your eyes. That is one place you don’t want shadows dropping unless you are going for the evil sinister look. So, I advise you to invest in some lights, soft boxes to be a bit more specific. Maybe one, two would be better, coming from each side. And then off a bit get a tweenie to light the glass from above when you show us the coloring of the wine. Then of coarse if you want to throw on a touch of powder before you go on that would help with any unsightly sheens happening on the nose or forehead. Iâ??ll be at the San Fran party; we go into more detail then. Good show, great energy, love it!

    Cheers!

Wow, good one Gary. Except for maybe that little lip slip. Anyhoo, Yeah, I’m still searching for that so right thing. My career is still a work in progress and maybe when I finally get that right, I’ll have it. There is doing right by you and knowing what’s good in this world like Wine. Yeah, there you go. That’s my answer. Oh, and I look forward to seeing you in 2008 in the City of Angels. : )

QOTD: Staying up all night with a few friends to explore the ancient rock dwellings in the Sassi, Matera, Italy, with a 2 AAA Mini Maglight to guide the way. Then climbing down the ravine, crossing the river, getting soaked up to our waists, and up the other side to see the sunrise. This was a year ago in March and I swear i didn’t make any of it up.
