    Welcome back Gary!

    QOTD:

One wine that I’ve been wanting to try more of is Sauternes. After having a tiny tasting of this kind of wine for the first time ever at the Chicago party last month, I’ve been interested in trying it again. TimF brought the ’01 Chateau Guiraud to the Chicago party, and I’m interested to see how the ’99 is, since it is on the WL website and looks like a good deal!

Great to see you back GV!

QOTD: I got to taste some really good wines at the Whole Foods in Fairfax VA. I had a Carneros Kistler Chardonnay and 2001 Camigliano Brunello. They have this enomatic wine dispensers where you get an ounce taste for $7.

If I could taste one wine and money was not a consideration it would be the 2001 Gaja Costa Russi.

    http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=27579

I could justify it if I get a much better job than I anticipate after getting my degree, or if I will be getting my tongue removed and I need to enjoy flavor before the event.

thanks for returning with those Riojas. QOTD : Remirez de Ganuza Rioja Alavesa 1998 Reserva. though i tried this once already last spring at a dinner in Granada, Spain it is the wine that pushed me over the top and i fell in love with Riojas. I’ve since had the ’99 and ’00 but would love to try another of the ’98.

    Glad you’re back, Gary.

QOTD: Any 100 point wine. (Just to see what people are talking about) Never bought one, never had one. Especially P-O’ed that I did not buy some 2001 Rieussec when it was more available. Guess I may just have to bite the bullet spend what it takes for a bottle now.

    Welcome back Sensei!

Rioja is very special to Mrs. Grasshopper and me. We were married in the Rioja room at Meson Sabika in Naperville Illinois (Spanish Tapas) and we Honeymooned in Spain. We love Rioja wines and they have a very sentimental place in our hearts!!!….

QOTD; 2002 Contador Rioja is a wine I have wanted to taste. It was rated a 96 by Parker and is very limited production.

Cool that you could even find an ’81 white to drink! Never saw that before … I’m a fan of Lopez de Heredia Riojas – I like the fact they don’t release until they feel the wine is ready. Old school …

QOTD: http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=11532 I’m ready to pull the trigger but would love to know what you think …

    Welcome back! We missed you.
I’ve been reading about Riojas. I haven’t had that many, but I really enjoyed the few that I’ve had.

QOTD: Since I’ve never really had an expensive wine, I think that I’d like to taste a 96+ expensive wine, old world, new world, I don’t think I’d quibble about that, and then a comparable 96+ wine that is more affordable (if there is such a thing) and compare the two. BUT…the 96+ rating would have to be according to GV, the only one who hasn’t steered me wrong yet!

One more post to test my Avitar. Thought I would finally get it working.

  • wineSmith

Also when do we get the free shipping code from the Viral Video contest ?

Feel free to twitter it out tonight. 🙂

  • Sarah L

Thank you for the silent shout out. I had car trouble today and had to wait 1.5 hrs for roadside assistance. . .of course, it was raining. A dash of you really brightened my day.

QTD: the 2005 Chateau Margaux that you tasted on your March trip to Bordeaux.

    Welcome Back!!!
QOTD: Recently I’ve been a bit obsessed with riesling and have tried a few good ones, but I haven’t found anything overly spectacular that is within my budget…I’m a poor college kid. I would love to taste a really good German riesling maybe something like http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=30429

QOTD: I am dying to try the Pinotage – the day you reviewed it, my best friend called to tell me this was my wine (I used to be a competitive cyclist, so lived on bananas for years – the perfect cycling food), so he thought of me when he heard of a wine smelling like bananas.

    WL item #28012

I’m up to 4 cents, 6 cents to go.

there must be subliminal messages in these videos, because having the show back today was like having that first cup of coffee after running out of beans for two days. is that wrong?

qotd: i have to say the 2001 Prunotto show had my drooling… and the cheese to boot! (http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=31225)

  • Would love to see you review a few of your best sellers especially:

    Sharpshooter Chardonnay
    http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=27615

    Ehlers Merlot
    http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=8473

For some reason I always avoid these wines because I fear the love they get from the masses means they are mediocre sweet wines but maybe not very good wine…then again I could be completely wrong. Give us the Gary V yeah or nay!

QOTD: agree with 3dvw- I want to hear about some Beujoulais Cru. I know Beujoulais have a bad reputation, but these are good! And reasonable.
