I think my laptop’s LCD screen is on the way out– it looks like all of today’s wines are PINK!!

QOTD: What am I afraid of? The sugar monster and his science-project friend Dr. Chemicals. That’s what I’ve experienced with a couple of the Rose wines that I’ve had in the past. However, as always, I’ll continue my quest to never buy the same wine twice until I’ve tried everything…even a GOOD Rose (I know their out there- maybe the Mulderbosch 2006 Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon??

I drink pink. SO what? The “Curse of the Dreaded White Zin” has run its course as more and more people are becoming familiar with the Lady.

QOTD: There is nothing holding me back….I had an amazing rose from Chinon the other day to celebrate the beautiful weather here in Maine. It’s fancy & cursive….but it looks like J M Raffault 12.5% it was lovely…

Also great to see you reviewing a Copain wine here Gary. When are we going to see Maynard on the show again???

  • Drink pink too, yet, I’ve indeed always been scared of this untill I had the first good one (Chilean, Syrah, with an awful label).
QOTD: Putting me off was the Rosé d’Anjou hype when I was still a small boy: cloying, flabby, sweet, … awful wines.

QOTD: I can’t say I’ve ever had a rosé that I liked besides rosé champagne (i’ve never actually tried white zin). That’s probably what’s holding me back from trying more. The failure rate is just too high. Living in the Anjou for 4 months has also kind of traumatized me.

I like rose wines…but I do agree that with another comment – talking about how they are made. What makes them rose’s or what the difference between a rose and blush wine is. Are some made by blending white wine and red or just the skin to juice contact. Blends or straight up one grape type…so many things to know.
I try anything so nothing holds me back…except a bad review.

QOTD – not afraid at all, been drinking some serious Spanish Rosados for the last year thanks to the Wine Warehouse down the road from me. Unfortunately for most of you it’s in the U.K. (Spanish Spirit, if you’re in the UK check it out at http://www.spanishspirit.com ). One of their best is the Vidal del Saz, http://www.bodegasdelsaz.com – if you can find it in the USA buy it (as long as you like dry, berry-laden Pinks).

I drink rose all the time, but I could of told you in advance about the Las Rocas, I wouldn’t cook with it. If you want a rose a man could get into, do 1+1=3 Rose imported by Aurelio Cabestreros, its got a lot of good ratings and awards. Huge nose and finish.

BTW: All Europeans drink rose in the summertime by the jug fulls, there are other wines other than big california cabs out there in the world.

    QOTD:

Unfortunately If I am being honest … I have never tried Rose because of the perception it has. Looks like a Wine Cooler, most people say the taste is horrible, never had anyone introduce me to a good quality Rose – didn’t know they existed.

But, trying to keep an open mind … and plan on buying a Rose for sampling with my next order! Your fault!!

In the old days I used to find some delightful rose’s from Portugal. Have you checked those out?
It’s true that white zin has become an abomination, but when it was a new kind of wine in the pop market, some makers made a dry style like the european rose’s that were not bad at all.

QOTD Not afraid of pink but drank a lot of Mateus in college (when the corkscrew broke we used a pair of scissors) — remember when it was the expensive wine?

Friend of mine had a wine tasting party for her husband’s birthday – had the 2005 Domaine Tempier Bandol. VERY nice rose. But she also had a Lafitte so who remembered to finish the rose?

QOTD: I never have rosé, mainly because, like others have expressed, it reminds me of my poor college days when Mateus and Lancers were the coolest!

Not scared of the pink either. I live in Texas and when it begins to get warm, red’s can feel heavy on a Sunday afternoon. My friend has been drinking rose’s lately so I figured I’d see what it was about (ever trying to expand the pallet). Have come across Belle Glos Pinot Noir Blanc ($17) and Folie a Deux Pink ($9). Both are quite lovely, not too sweet, and leave no ill effects. I’ll be unscrewing the cap on a Montes Rose of Syrah (Chile) for the first time this evening.

    Real men drink pink!

I would love to drink more roses but 99% of them are disappointing. Instead of fruit or other nice flavors there is nothing or sometimes a flavor like wet cardboard.

I love rosé – whether it’s slightly sweet and fruity or dry. The only thing I am waiting for is warmer weather. Here in the SFBay area, we have had a somewhat cool spring – but come August, I’ll think pink!
