Are you still reading comments, GaryVee? I discovered these videos and decided to watch from EP 1! Thanks for the education.
New to wines, so I haven’t yet tried a Barolo.
Read today that cork’d has croaked. LOL! Too bad, but created an account with cellar tracker.

Vaynerchuck, you are one wacky dude, but I’m diggin’ your show. I’ll have to check the archives, but I’d really be interested in learning about another Italian wine — Bardilino.

    Cheers

Barolos are great for a special occasion. I’ve had a few 2001’s that were perfect.

    Gary,

Lurker here from Los Angeles that finally broke free to make a comment (so what does that make me now??). I just want to say that I have been learning so much from YOU with wines that I have tasted and never tasted. That “little bit of me” is really changing the wine world. There’s a lot of buzz on how people are now interpreting wines, and I think your analogies a really paving the way for people to become more open minded on how they absorb all the variety of flavors that come out of a 750ml bottle. So Kudos to you.. keep it up!!

QOTD – Being an Argentine national pasta is really big in an Argentine family. We usually drink Malbecs with about any traditional Argentine dish and its not a bad pairing. I’m sure there’s better pairings with pasta, but I like the Malbec with a good heavy pasta like “Puttanesca” or “Bolognesa” – really meaty and spicy sauce.

    Saludos,

    Pablo Lastorta

I enjoyed you talk on Barolo. Do all vinters put their name first the wine second and the vineard last or am I reading it wrong? You swirl the wine but you say nothing aout it’s clinging to the glass.

I have always thought the set needs a little more lighting. This episode especially. Can’t really see your face or the color of the wine.

Spaghetti….with my homemade ‘2 days in the pot cooking’ sauce….or Prego in a bottle if I am really desperate.

  • Love to watch your show! Have a great time in SF and avoid the SFPD…The Bay Area’s wine “neighbor” over the hill in Lodi thinks you’re great!

  • Nerdy question: why is the Massolino the only Barolo there that doesn’t have the pink seal around the foil (ostensibly the Italian seal indicating the Barolo DOCG, much like every damn bottle of Chianti Classico I’ve ever had)?

QOTD: When I was in Milan several years back, I had some Gnocchi with a three cheese sauce that made my heart swoon (I think it was even called Gnocchi Milanese, but don’t hold me to that). I’ve had a weakness for Gnocchi ever since.

Best thing you said was that 75% of $50 barolos will be a hit. I even think that number could go up to 85%. Even $20 Chianti’s in the right (97,99, 01) year you will bat 75%. I think Italians just take so much pride in their product as opposed to some Cali’s that are for profit.

QOTD: Favorite Italian dish…probably lasagne or simple Italian sausage with sauce and pasta of some description. I don’t really have a favorite wine at this point…I like trying new things, so I typically grab some sort of Italian red to go with it. Sangioveses rarely do me wrong.

  • GREAT Episode! Informative, exciting – can’t wait to try the featured wines!

Ok Gray you win (I mean we win too, but you win). After 250 + episodes I am finally adding my two cents, as the entertainment value and pure vino fun you provide is simply amazing. Sorry we didn’t get a chance to chat last time when I ran into in the store but we’ll do it before too long.

Keep up the great work, as you are in fact changing the wine world, as this long time customer and beneficiary of your enthusiam and insights can attest.

    All the best,

    Blair

Pretty good, I spelled your name wrong!

As a professional videographer, I can feel both of your pains. I have thought I have shot interviews and pictures and then realized the button had not been pressed. It sucks, but it happens.

Now I will go back and watch the rest of the episode. (2 cents for the week)

GV, First time checking out winelibrary tv and its awesome. As a member of the CKC I’m glad to hear you acknowledge us. I live in town and shop in your store but I hate to say that although the sales people are pretty good I don’t think they know about the CKC, and that we demand respect. Sometimes they treat us like were in the HSC (High School Crew) and that is not cool. Love the new food area, the best around for sure. And the checkout people are for the most part aweful, to me or my parents. They alone make us seek out your competition on a regular basis. I love the store’s selection and your style on these shows is great. Please tell your sales people to treat young adults like adults and tell your checkout people, Your Fired!

QOTD: Anything with wild boar (cinghale)!!! I love that stuff, had an entire plate of just that in Cortona once and was in heaven. Wine to pair, Barolo was pretty good and I’m a sucker for Brunello di Montalcino too.

    CKC!!!
If I had a dollar for every time I heard “Dude, you’re drinking wine!?” from my buddies I would be a rich man. So I drink my wine and take my keg stands and try to convert as many other college kids as possible to the ass kicking world of delicious wine. Thanks for the shout out.

QOTD – a loaded calzone with a big cabernet or syrah.

Ex-Lurker right here, I’ve been watching the show for about a week now and really really enjoy it. I’ve sent on info about the site and the show to at least 10 people who I know enjoy wine and am getting them to start watch it as well. I find the show great as a person who is new to wine, I’m sure others feel the same way.

    Gary,

you checking commments while on vacation?

…another link between you and Lindsay Lohan! I love it. Maybe she’ll get out of rehab in time to join you on your cruise.

QOTD: mushroom risotto….with chianti (can’t afford the Barolo)
