Great to see so many people supporting keeping the show just as it is. The occasional recommendation is good. I’d really love to do a taste along episode. I know you did some sample pack ones back in the day but I wasn’t watching back then. I think that’s the height of interaction.

QOTD: Would be cool to have an episode maybe once every few weeks or so where you followup on some things you had on your own that you found “profound” 🙂

  • Great show! I like the current format. Maybe once a month do an “I recommend…” show. Although wine tasting is relative to the taster, Gary’s suggestions do carry quite a bit of weight. I know I tend to seek out many of his 90 pointers!

  • QOTD: I like what you have been doing, i.e. wines you’ve never tasted. HOWEVER, I can see the value in you showcasing wines you HAVE tasted and have loved, especially if they are at various price-points.

ALSO, I would really like to see more brown-bag (err, blind) tastings,a s these were informative, fascinating, and proved you really know your wines.

Hope you’re having a great time wherever you are right now as I write this, and also where you are when you read this!

    Keep up what you do!

It was great to meeting you at the SF party. Thanks for the tasting.

    Third time is the charm.

Maybe shouldn’t be mentioning Namath on a drinking show.

    What’s 24? Sounds catchy.

    Nice phone cameo by pops.

I love oak in my whites, but not in my reds. Wonder why?

Please review more wines with boob jobs.

QOTD: Just pick the stuff you feel like.

    Great show G…

QOTD: How about a compromise?! Obviously we’re eager to get tips on excellent QPR wines. At the same time it’s more interesting and spontaneous to you if you taste and comment on wines that you’ve tasted for the first time. So here is my recommendation: How about doing, on the same episode, 2 new wines that you have not tasted before along with 2 wines that you’ve already tasted and you know that they are great (preferably QPR wines). In both cases, it’d be great to choose wines that are widely available.

    Cheers,

QOTD: I like the current format and seeing your honest reactions to the wines. While I can see a benefit to changing it up once and awhile, I’d recommend staying with what is and changing the wine world like that.

Great episode. Hope you’re enjoying Venice, St. Mark’s Square, fresh sardines at dinner and some good drinks at Harry’s Bar.

  • QOD: Well, you have already done eps like that where you feature wines you’ve been drinking and love..like the Godello ep. I think those are great signature eps. You should do both, but the regular format of the show (you tasting for the first time) should remain the key component.

  • QOTD: Agreed with a lot of the sentiments already stated. Keep the show with current format, keep your Cork’d profile updated so we know whats what, and then let us know once and again if there is a wine you had personally that knocked your socks off.

QOTD: Really love the show as it is, but I like the idea of a “Gary reccommends” component. I always enjoy the Friday couch shows, and that might be a spot to do the type of show you are talking abou. I wouldn’t even mind if you tied it in with some free shipping and tried to sell me some stuff! 🙂

Nice show today, GV. QOTD: I think you should keep the show primarily the same with maybe a change-up every now and then. Perhaps a show of fabulous $12 and under wines that you KNOW are good would be useful.

Getting caught up, slowly but surely. Can you tell it’s a slow day at work?

I agree with Kelldey – primarily as you are doing today, with a few shows that recap your favorite affordable wines with the new perspective of your recent tastings.

Great show, keep up the great work!

Gary, I love the way you do the show now, without having tasted the wines before the show. Wine is a learning process, so who wants someone else (you) to do the learning for them? The same folks who read cliffnotes, that’s who!
(I’m a nerd. I always read the book.)
BTW, I had the marquis phillips the other night at a restaurant and the oak monster didn’t appear. The fake fruit, however, almost bowled me over. I just ran into my husband’s office to replay your tasting of that wine, and bragged that I gave it an 85, only one point off from yours! I have no idea why I’m bragging about that. But at least it gives me some indication as to where my palate is in relation to yours. Thanks a million for the edumacation!

    Hope you’re loving Greece!

I think David the CMBTvet said it best, but I’d just like to add that, if I remember correctly, you’ve been slipping recommendations in from time to time anyway, and I don’t mind at all. You made it very clear that you were familiar with the Corte Riva and the Charles Creek Miradero Merlots before you tasted them on the show, but there was nothing about your recommendation that sounded like a sales pitch. It seemed rather that you were just trying to share your enthusiasm and teach us something at the same time. In the case of those two great Merlots, I suspect that you wanted us to know that, despite Sideways, Merlot has plenty to offer. There’s nothing wrong with that. I like the show the way it is, and I wouldn’t want to see it devolve into “GV’s FAVs”. It would definitely hurt the show if you felt an obligation to regularly recommend wines you like. But, at the same time, if you’re itching to share something, by all means do so.

I love that you fielded a call from Dad. THat’s why this show rocks, it’s real. Much unlike reality tv.

QOTD: One thing I would love to see/know is the actula Wine Celler of GV on Corkd. I’m sure you have it somewhere.

QOTD – Force feed! Force feed! Force feed! And keep doing what you are doing. Do both. Throw in a bunch of other stuff too. Stir it all up. I do like WML’s idea of â??My Wine Library Wednesdaysâ?.

Catching up after a long business trip … QOTD: I’ve no problem with how you are doing the show – you are hitting a lot of wines that I have never had and I find that very rewarding.

I have all Silverado Limited Reserve Cabs and they do drink well. The Merlot has been more problematic. The regular Cab is a good drink, too, especially where the wines is served to folks who are not wraped up in limited production high-dollar wines.

QOD: Leave the show as is. We get enough people pushing their particular wines. Also, we would never know about crappy wine. Why would Gary drink something that he knows he doesn’t like? We need to know the bad along with the good. Also, he may not like the wine, but he gives an honest description. Maybe I would like that style that he is not so fond of.

Gary, thanks for drinking the dreck, so we don’t have to.
