      Greeting Mr V!

Guess I’ll have to try some Sauternes…

Question of the Day: Wow, which country? Top 3 off the top of my head… Epoisses, Humbolt Fog, and Taleggio. Can’t forget Vlaskaas. Or A good Stilton. I haven’t met a whole lotta cheeses I don’t dig; kinda like wine in my book.

I’m never going to get my request for a Cotes de Nuit episode granted, am I? 🙁 Even though this CKC brought some great wines to the SF party AND GV dropped the ball on my Parisian dinner. ::sigh:: The world isn’t fair.

When’s a good time to find Hollywood in the office? Now that I’m back Eastwards, I want to stop into WL for a half-case or case.

I am going to have to swing by Laird one of these days. Its only like 2 miles from me. My oak monster and pickles shirt should arrive tomorrow! Im excited.

QOD: My favorite cheese?? HMM you mean I have to pick 1? Thats hard… I like all cheeses! Castello blue, stilton, humboltd fog, triple cream, asiago, fontina, dubliner aged white cheddar, monchego…the list goes on and on and on… Unfortunately I haven’t eaten as much cheese as I would like lately. Trying to drop some pounds… So far 8lbs since moving to Napa in April. Every now and then I will have a small amount, but not splurging like I used to.

QOTD: Hy-Vee’s Fat Free Cheese Product slices. If I’m going to be consuming a lot of empty calories, I’ll stick to wine or beer or pasta salad. Cheese to me isn’t worth it.

I LOVE all cheeses. In fact, right now I’m craving this apple tart smothered in warm melted roquefort that I had the other day.

One of my favorite cheeses just to eat with crackers is Cacio Di Roma…..also know as Cacciota……a semi hard sheeps milk from Italy.

At the NOWFE a few weeks ago, I also really enjoyed Bellwether Farms Fromage Blanc with Rose Petal Jelly. It was brought by a woman from Sonoma named Sheana Davis….www.sheanadavis.com Anyone near Sonoma should check her out. The recipe for her amazing Rose Petal Jelly is on the website. It was really outstanding with the creamy sweet & tart fromage blanc.

Excited about the ’05 Guillame in the near future and the 2 Bottles of ’05 Ercavio that I picked up at your store today!! Great looking store and it was pleasure to meet you! Your store definitely brings the thunder! I am spreading the word around of WLTV to all my friends.

QOTD: Tallegio (sp?) But really that’s about as bad as asking what your favorite wine is.

    • LarryF

New York Sharp Cheddar. Goes great with Scotch, wine or just on a sandwich with some ham and mustard.

Hey Gary. Awesome episode. I’ve been watching for 30 or so episodes and I’ve been a real closet lurker, not even chatting on the forum! So I thought i’d make your day.

QOD: Well I’m from Yorkshire (UK) and we make a great cheese over here called Wensleydale thats just great. It’s crisp and refined but with that rich, not too buttery finish. Plus its nice and crumbly!

      Keep up the awesome work!

Good show! That Cotes du Luberon sounds great! I love that bacon smell. Usually I have to spring for Hermitage to get it. The last time I found it in an affordable Southern Rhone wine was a Cotes du Rhone Village (Cairanne) from Domaine Alary called “La Font d’Estevenas.” It was some end-of-bin closeout for about $8, marked down from double or triple that. One of my best bargain buys. I haven’t been able to find it lately, though.

QOTD: I have seldom met a cheese I didn’t like.

Let me propose a QOTD: What about restaurant prices for wine? Are they fair, or even reasonable, or do restaurateurs just do it because they know we have to have wine with our food?

      I like your shirt.

Did you really say lick your armpit???

QOTD: There’s a little farm outside of Austin that makes their own goat cheese. On their farm, they have a walk-in cooler and everything for sale is listed on a chalkboard with the price. They operate on the honor system; you put what you owe in the box and make your own change – not a sole around. I love all kinds of cheese, but theirs will always have a place in my heart because I’m glad these kinds of places still exist.
