Very intense show, great energy, you’re bringing the thunder today with or without the wines..Qotd all time favorite cheese Parmigiano Reggiano.. however I’d be hard pressed to name a top 10 or 5 for that matter so many great ones. But hands down Parmigiano Reggiano is my #1… later

Nice show Gary, I wish the weather wasn’t so bloody hot so I could nab some of that Sauternes. Pushing 100 here all week…Next day shipping kinda kills my budget… 🙂

QOTD…all in all, all cheese is good for me! Went to France for my honeymoon and had enough cheese to kill every mouse in the Four Corners area. While in Bordeaux, my wife and I did a wine & cheese tasting…three wines (don’t have my notes on the evening…) and what I thought was going to be three cheeses. Went into the cheese cave and they had 50+ cheeses down there and I asked if three was the limit and the guide said “No, just eat what you take.” I about killed myelf with cheese. 🙂 The others on the tour left early and left us with all the wine too. 22 Euros…we got more than our money’s worth!!!

      QOTD: JARLSBERG swiss. Thunder show???

    • HipandKneeDoc

      Very good show.

I have recently been a re-born lurker due to business and family commitments.

QOTD: Bleu cheese. But, not just any bleu cheese….bleu cheese dressing on buffalo wings from the Warrenside Tavern, which used to have the best wings in the world (or at least in western New Jersey)

    • Bossman

Lordy, lordy, how could I forget Grana Padano? I liken that to refering to my youngest by my oldest’s name, if looks could kill.

QOTD: Cheese is like wine; you can’t have just one favorite. I just had a Porter, which an an Irish Cheddar made with dark beer! It was awesome, especially paired with a Cotes-du-Rhone.

      Here’s a pic of porter cheese: http://www.holiday-market.com/cheese/cheese-wine/cheese-wine175.html

I am convinced that the government owned liquor stores here hate wine drinkers. twice the price for almost anything. Still, nothing rated well on your show, or anywhere else for that matter. Tired of throwing my money away.

    • Nice episode especially with the Sauternes. Sauternes is a great after dinner wine. A lot of people are hooked on Chateau Yquem which is absolutely delicious. However, most people can’t afford Chateau Yquem. Thanks for showcasing a very nice Sauterne at a truly affordable price.

What is the best cheese that I have had? Wow, there are so many. However, I prefer a double cream Brie. Really brings the thunder.

QOTD: Brie – I’m still a rookie with cheese so I haven’t tried that many.

Guilty – I commented about the 2004 Ercavio yesterday. Perhaps will try the 05.

I’m really bummed that I haven’t and will not enter the T-shirt contest. I bought my shirt, have a phenomenal idea, but it would take a while to do it right and unfortunately I’m studying for the Bar exam and I just can’t do it. Hopefully there will be another contest.

qotd: i’ll pretty much eat any cheese as long as it’s not moving under its own power, but i gotta say, i’m a huge sucker for those goat cheeses that are laced with different type of herbs. gimmie a pound of that stuff and a tube of those real wafer thin crackers, and you won’t hear a peep out of me for hours.

      Fierce competition?

      Sidekick? Hmm, sounds familiar…

      Is that Liberty Bell cheese?

Hmm, a shout-out for SS Chris. That guy never gets enough credit…

Bacon and onions are one of the greatest pairings of all time. Bacon and onion pizza is my fave.

Nice cameo by the oak monster.

Dodgeball? I thought you preferred basketball.

You can never drink too much Sauternes.

      Love marzipan.

I can tell you’re in heaven.

QOTD: That’s a really tough call. I do like Camembert a lot.

These wines are awesome! Just one question: why did you drink the reds between the whites? Like to see the French wines displayed.

I dont know what it is with French wines but I think that I avoid them because they are given such high regards without good reason other than the country they are from. Frankly, I have had several French wines that I don’t like but I have also had many French wines that I would probably say were some of the best I’ve ever had.

TO sum it up, please tell us more about French wines. I want to learn which regions / appellations I need to jump into.

I only lurked for a few days..what can I say, I am a blank page here ready to learn coming off of colby cheese(the cylinder kind with the wax coating) and chuck shaw. So tonight I got some Leicester(it was orange like colby) and some Little Penguin Chardonnay (cue label)- don’t want to set the bar too high too soon – like both, big improvement. My boss gave me a bottle of Santa Ema merlot reserve 2004 – and I loved it – I told him to get hip to the vanyiancs since he is already an inexpensive good wine lover.
