QOTD: How about a Cork'd contest. See who can get the most (meaningful) reviews on the board within a set period of time (a week maybe). You could announce a contest that begins on a certain date, but not reveal what it is until then.

  • Gary…. This may sound kind of weird, but I noticed that the shirt you wore today was the exact same one you wore in LA at the Vayniac tasting.

    Super Tuscans, super episode.

QOTD: How about a competition to come up with the best theme for a home wine tasting party and then host it. I’m not sure if you would get pictures or video or just write ups of the parties.

Love the Italian Juice Big G. QOTD The show is about wine. So, maybe you can do a 20-question challenge. Some hidden info on Wine or something that will help the Vayniacs continue their education and enter a contest at the same time. Hmmmmm….

    QOTD: What would Gary say?

Pick a wine that you have never tried. Allow everyone to provide tasting notes re color, nose, flavor, and score. The person coming closest to your tasting note wins.

  • That SF Vaynerglass is still lookin’ good! I admit that I rarely drink out of mine, for fear of breaking it.

Yeah! Pipe tobacco! Thanks for the bone! Of course, there are MANY different aromas within the world of pipe tobacco, but I expect that you’re talking about cavendish, which is the smell that most people who don’t smoke a pipe associate with pipe tobacco.

Hmmm… so you even enjoy their sweat now? Well, if the Jets ever need somebody to drink their bathwater…

My wristband pics are coming, so watch your mail! (I hesitate to send you email these days because I don’t want to add to your load, and I figure I might get lost in the pile.)

QOTD: You could give some kind of awesome prize to the person (or group of people) who designs the most creative way to share their passion for wine without snobbery.

  • Great show!

Hey, Gary, how about a special episode where you taste wines that come in super fancy bottles? Like cat-shaped or coil-shaped or whatnot? Let’s see if the shape of the bottle says anything about the quality of the wine.

  • Seems fitting to do a show opening contest. The show has evolved SO much and the opening remains the same. My vote is for that.

I miss the good ol days………last year

I just have to say that your podcast is awesome. I wasn’t really into wine much before this summer, but then I took a trip to south america and visited Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. And the wine down there was so good and so cheap to buy that I got hooked. And now, I try and drink a bottle every couple of weeks.

Although I am kind of annoyed because I live in College Station, TX right now, and lets just say that they don’t have many shops with a large selection of wines. Oh well, I still try and branch out and find good wines though.

As for the contest ideas, I like the theme song idea the best. I am a bit of a musician, although not greatly talented. And it would be a fun summer project for me. So I really like that idea. Just keep on bringing the thunder.

poop. I didn’t know about the home wine making contest. I have some Red Mountain Cab getting cuter and cuter by the day.

Contest…food and wine pairing contest? Supply the recipe and pair it with the vino. QPR being a consideration here. If nothing else it would be great to see what other people are doing and add to my own library.

  • Drink alot of supertuscans and just recently tried some of the older wintages.

They seem too develop tremendously with some ageing, and wines that I found over-oaked as young actully came out with very nice fruit!

I can´t see them long-term cellaring, even though wines as Il Futuro and Tinganello of 2000 still need some decanting.

I guess the 97´s are peeking now – so don´t wait for them!

Nix on the theme song. We don’t need anymore crap taking away from the wine review content of the videos. The fact is we are all here to learn more about wine and hopefully get some help from Gary V, and the rest of the community, to pick some good ones without going broke.

If you want a contest, have the viewers find a wine that is under $20 that Gary V is willing to give a 93 rating or higher.

Ha! I just watched the uncut video…. that was a rock’en good time. Kudos to the guys who did it! FUNNY… very funny!

I truly am taking the wristband photo by this weeks end… I promise!

PS- Went to check it out cause I was pretty sure I had just bought some of that BOSCO funkadelic stuff…. yep, sure enough. Only now I’m a bit afraid of it! One funky football guy was plenty for me BUT 4 – I just don’t know.

QOTD; I totally like where Trish da’Dish and Tommy BoBo of WI are headed with their ideas. BUT a theme song… come on Gary don’t make it toooo corny or take away from what we all come here for – THE WINE (ok, well maybe a bit of you too)!

Super show on the Super Tuscans and great value find. My favorite cheese with wine is Manchego from Spain. Reggiano Parmesan would be next….

QOD Your viewers could describe a wine of their choosing with the most creative description in the tasting notes emulating you in their own way…

A friend of mine just found a new Cabernet Sauvigno that he thought equalled Caymus called Sojourn which produced only 300 cases but will increase their volume in the future. Sojourn Cellars also won two first places with their Pinot Noir. I can’t wait to taste it. Please check it out when you are in Napa.

Awesome show Gary. Even more proof that you can get a great bang for your buck. Love it!

QOTD: I like the idea of a theme song or something else to go at the beginning of the episode… something to grab your attention beyond just the URL for the Wine Library TV homepage.

  • Sangiovese is our house red and I wouild love to try some new producers. Any ideas when you will be able to ship to MN? Since 2006 we can buy two cases online and that would probably be just my first order. January is not that far off for the other two cases! 🙂
