    Hey Gary,

Friday will be my wife and my 5th wedding anniversary. I have been laying in a number of â??02 Cali Cabs for a while now, since I know most are reliable from the vintage. We will be popping one (to be determined) on Fri. evening to go with some nice charcoal grilled ribeyes. What I would love for you to taste would be:

Please let me know if this is worth picking up to put away for the 15th or 20th anniversary (if she puts up with me that long). Thanks, looking for other suggestions for ageworthy â??02â??s aside from the obvious areas.

    Cool Amarone show!

QOTD: How about some Conn Valley. It’s my Dad’s favorite wine. THis will get him to watch.

Hi there. Great show — we love Amarone. We also love gnocchi — we always have it with pesto. They are next to impossible to make well (unless by our 85 yr old Italian aunt) so we buy the gnocchi from the Ravioli Store here in NYC. Since I know there are still good values to be had

Or if that’s a no go, any wine that has an animal on the label 😉

I would really enjoy for fridays episode a tasting of DON MELCHOR and his big brother ALMAVIVA both from CONCHA Y TORO and both top 10 wines from Chile.

  • Some interesting wine suggestions all around. Maybe next time it would help to narrow our thinking if Gary could suggest a varietal or a region so we wouldn’t be all over the place.

As a general comment, I’d love to see a couple of shows devoted to the $12 and under or $10 and under category, particularly the blends. Someone above suggested the Tablas Creek Cotes de Tablas Blanc (of which I am a fan), I’d also like to see the Cline Oakley Five Reds in one of those shows.

  • I’ve never been a huge Amarone guy, simply because the wines I’ve tried have too much of the dried raisin/prune aspect, both on the nose and on the palate. Yada, yada, the Tommasi sounds interesting.

QOTD: You used to carry the Canonica a Cerreto Chianti Classico, but your site states that it is sold out (it was the 2002 vintage). Canonica a Cerreto makes “Sandiavolo,” a wine we import for Illinois. It’s 1/3 each Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. If you can get a bottle of the 2001 vintage, I’d love to see you try it. The 2003 is nice as well. Both should be right at or around $30, and they’re rated 91 and 90 WS respectively.

I love me some Amarone!!! Great show.

For Friday try, Nomade Malbec, 2004, Mendoza, I stumbled across this a few weeks ago and really liked it. Unfortunately, I don’t have the WL link, not sure you guys carry this one.

Great show. Have always found Amarone a bit daunting given the price point for most of the well-known producers, which usually turns my attention to Valpolicella.

QOTD: Ruffino Romitorio 2000 (93 WS) http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=32947 . I recently bought this Super Tuscan from you all and would like your opinion on it.

Another thought – I’ve been watching winelibrary tv for only a couple of months, and lately have been watching some of the older episodes. However, few of the wines that you liked are available anymore. It would be great (and good for your sales I believe) if you did a re-buy on some of these popular wines if possible. I’m sure many are no longer available, but some have to be!

  • For your Friday show try some great kosher Bordeaux. Chateau Pontet-Canet 2002 and Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Gran Cru 2002. Where’s my new WLTV T-shirt?

Proseco? I don’t know…… anything under 20 dollars with low alcohol content.
Thanks for the lively show. I’m voting Old World, not so very berry in your face exploding on the tongue type of wine.

Long time lurker, first time poster…

I would love for you to taste the Yangarra Cadenzia 2005. I have not had this myself, but the Yangarra Old Vine Grenache is “right up my wheelhouse” and I am curious about the Cadenzia. I’m coming out of the woodwork for this post so you can’t disappoint!! 🙂
