    thanks for the free wristband
to answer the answer of the day i would like to focus on reds (70-30) but my fiance loves the new world whites, and so I would say it comes out to 50-50 in the end. She finds many of the reds we drink, often kosher, to be too high alcohol. Which seems to be a trend right now in Israel.

Ha ha, the Ukraine. Do you know what the Ukraine is? It’s a sitting
duck. A road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It’s feeble. I think it’s
time to put the hurt on the Ukraine.

  • Sir Gary looks like a refugee from a ’60’s musical with the staight dude ragging on the hip kids. Maybe David Spade in PCU. Great for laughs but I hope you didn’t intend for many of us to bu Corton Charlemagne to tast along with Sir Gary. Actually had the Louis Jadot from 1999 and what overpriced swill that was. Thanks for the laughs but we want the real Gary back.

I kinda like Sir Gary. I think you appeal to the pompous wine snob in all of us. Just once in my life I want to laugh at someone “lower” than me whilst smoking a cigar and swirling a wine glass in hand; especially, if I’m on my own yacht…only once though.

QOTD: I crush about 57.2per. Red, 38.8per. white and the rest is Sutter Home’s White Zinfandel. How can something be so cheap but so…pink?

Great episode Sir Gary. Let’s see the pipe next time. QOTD: I’m probably 90% red and 10% white. Trying to expand my white wine consumption.

WOW! never thought I’d seen Sir Gary again!!!! You know, someone posted early on something like “boring” but I have to say, NOT BORING TO ME AT ALL!!!! I like him A LOT!!! the only thing I wish is that, instead of liking “99 to 1” reds on whites, he would LOVE OLD WORLD WHITES and KILL everyone who do thinks reds are better than whites! LOVE TO SEE SIR GARY MORE OFTEN, NOT BORING AT ALL!
QOTD: Well nowadays I’m about 75% on whites and the rest on reds. I do love em all 50-50, but as I’m drinking more often with a friend of mine who can’t stand reds this is how it’s going! On Mexico Distrito Federal we gave it a shot on a moscatel late harvest from valencia spain and the vionta albarino 06… both sucked 🙁 sooo disappointed at the Vionta as last year I tried the 05 and thought it was much better…

  • Good idea for a show, but a little Sir Gary goes a long way…

QOTD: Probably 75% red, but during the summer it swings to 60/40 white

  • This is WLTV at its best! Not just to get a few good laughs throughout the show, but to learn about these whites, and see them get scores as high or higher than many top reds. Kudos! Thanks!

  • QOTD:
75% white, 25% red, but the numbers may be skewed by the summer season and my current infatuation with dessert wines. And by the fact that I don’t eat meat.

65-35 red to whites though I would drink more whites if my wife liked them more. I have actually discovered that the whites give me less of a fat head and that I don’t wake up in the middle of the night the way I do with some reds (especially big tannic ones). In any case, don’t agree with the ratings (at least for the Girardin and the Jadot which I have had). Girardin’s wines for me are two open knitted. An easy fat and not very ageworthy style. The Jadot on the other hand, will take ten years at least to come into its own and which point it will be not spectacular but very very good and a real white Burgundy experience–something that no California Chard (with the exception of Kalin perhaps) can do. There are others, even some that are less expensive, but some information you have to find out for yourself (there is only so much made heh, heh).
As for the price, yup, its out there expensive. But it is a matter of priorities. If you buy a new car every five years, there goes the expensive wine up in smoke. I’d rather drive a junker and have a few bottles of grand crus in my cellar. I ain’t rich but I’d rather drink rich than drive rich.
As for Sir Gary, whatever it takes to get Burgundy on the show, I’ll take. The irony is that Burgundy is controlled by a bunch of rich farmers whereas the uptight snobs are in Bordeaux (not too many “chateaux” in burgundy!).

Absolutely HILARIOUS character once again, and I love the host change-up every once in a while. Keep it up, G. Man.

QOTD: When I buy my half case (for the 20% discount) I usually go 3 to 3, and occasionally 4 red to 2 white. I bought a rose last time to spice it up, but in general I’m probably a 60% Red to 40% white type of guy- especially since we both know that white wine is a lesser, less complex, no skin contact, bastard child of the wine world.

  • Just waking of after a huge move — I LOOOVE that jerkoff Gary — but Sir Gary is my fave as well. Maybe CKC Gary will make an appearance sooner or later.

QOTD: Somewhere around 50/50. I’m on a red kick in this 90 degree heat, but when the temperature comes down, I suppose I’ll have to start drinking white again.

80% whites after 10 years in Florida; used to be the opposite in the midwest!!
much more appreciation of the many and varied whites—love the reviews—friends also like them much better–they never knew there was the quality or variety out there–always assumed it was just the reds…..DON’T ASSUME!!! LOL

  • QOD: Probably like 25+ red to 1 white… I’m trying to like whites but I just can’t get there… I find that there are lots of very good inexpensive red wines whereas I feel like the whites at the same price point have a bad after taste even if I like the overall taste of the wine

I think this episode emphasizes how vital your charasmatic personality is to the success of the show. For I honestly had to bail out halfway through this one. I hope someone bans Sir V. from WLTV.
