Interesting episode, I think I will go out and buy a bottle or two of naked chard to satisfy my curiosity.

Coming short man, I guess I add another since I didn’t answer the QOTD before, too enfurated about the no-oak snobs around here to remember doing that. Come to think about it, I may like naked chard, but to me that means an oaky chard being served by someone naked. I was kidding about dumping the Silver, that is a good bottle.
QOTD: What is “food”? I do drink wine sometimes after Martinis, and I like them with olives, does that count? 700 now??

  • I just bought the Four Vines and had it last night. This is a pitched battle in my house. Me no oak in Chardonnay my wife loves oak. Wish I could find a balance.

Nice episode! I was afraid that “stepping back on the excitement” would mean that we;d lose some vaynericity, but it was still a real WLTV show nice work, and very educational.

QOTD: 90% food, 10% solo (if I’m drinking without food its a strong red 99% of the time – that is when its not dark ale)

    QOTD. 98% with food.

Maybe you should revisit the 2005 Macons for affordable lightly oaked Chardonnays. We’ve always known they were there.

Good show GV, love naked Chards. Gotta be honest, though, I enjoy those buttery ones from CA, too. They’re just different is all.

QOD – Probably pretty close to 50/50.

BTW – Don’t folks realize they can taste with you anytime they want by simply ordering a wine you’ve tasted, then going back to that show when the wine arrives? Or does it only count if they’re tasting “live” with you??

Gary, I’m backing you on your scoring of the wines, but I just don’t it would be fair to pit a 200 case cult wine against a 60,000 case operation. Good show!

  • Great idea for a show — and excellent execution. Excellent blend of entertainment and information/education. My favorite episode yet.

    QOTD: Regarding wine consumption:
80% precedes meal then flows into subsequent dinner (home)
15% served in conjunction with meal (out)
5% wine alone, no food (home or out)

  • IMHO, the comment spam is particularly annoying today. I’m not sure a target number of comments is such a great idea.

Q for Gary: to what extent is the naked movement an extension of what happened in NZ with sauvignon blanc?

GV, nice show. I have been drinking the Naked chards for a while now. The butter bomb – Oak Monster Chards seem so flabby in comparison. I would agree that this is the future of direction of Chards.

    Greetings Mr V!

QotD: Nothing better than a well paired wine with food, but to be perfectly honest I do most of my wine drinking in the evening after dinner. I’d have to say I’m currently 75/25.
