Over the top, enjoyed the show. As they say “To each thier own” and that is why you are always going to keep it fresh, open and honest. By the way, my wife and I both had a bottle of Southern Australian wine last night for supper that you gave a score of 90 points on and it SUCKED. That goes to prove what you keep trying to tell us all “It’s an individual thing” and that “Scores aren’t always good measures because everyone is different”. Thanks for all that you do and another GREAT episode.

QOTH: At this moment I am going to bed so I may work the night shift tonight. But as far as wine goes, I am hoping to learn more and more about wine and it is looking like it is going to be an interesting life ahead for my spouse and I when it comes to the wine world. Thanks again……..

I completely agree with you on the over use of oak in ANY wine — not just chardonnay. Lately, I’ve been drinking Spanish and Portuguese (drinking a Meandro do Vale Meao 2004 right now) wines and their use of oak is so subtle and totally revealed on the labels (joven, roble, crianza, etc.). Which brings me to the QOTD: I’m going to Portugal (Oporto, Douro and Dao) in ten days!!!

QOTD: I am going to kick the butts of all the people who are getting on your case about the Vayniac Cab.

P.S. Maybe you had a bad day today, but I had the Black Pig Albarino last night and it is phenomenal. Thank you Gary.

I’m totally with you that way to many wines out there lack individuality because of the overoaked, extracted “winemaking” techniques that are so popular right now.

Any minute now, I’m going to pick up my darling wife from the train station and get a pisa. In January, I’m going to Argentina and Chile… talk about excited. As an aside, just discovered Canale Reserve Merlot 2005 from Rio Negro in Patagonia, which has to be my favourite mid priced red of the year! In the longer term… guess it’s oblivion – hence the pisa, holiday and wine.

QOTD: Hopefully Ireland the end of the month and maybe Iceland as a side trip!
