Have found South African wines very hit or miss, some have been awful. Not sure a couple years later that they have gotten any better. QOTD-Honeynut Chex http://www.winelx.com

    Top 13!

Looking forward to South African wines. I was there for work last fall, and had an opportunity to try a bunch of different wines, with the exchange rate being a huge help. It was awesome. The John X Merriman has been nice in the past รข?? hopefully it lives up!

Nothing else by Boekenhoutskloof? Especially after raving about the $7 Wolftrap?

Gary, I’m disappointed. I’ve personally gotten their Chocolate Block in NJ, albeit not from you guys. I’m glad you reviewed new terroir, but I’m disappointed that you missed the chance to see other, higher-end, offerings from the maker of one of the best value wines ever on WLTV.

  • Hey Gary,

I haven’t tried many South African wines but I’ll probably pick up the 2 you recommended and try them out.

Another terrific show. Guess it’s time to move beyond Goats Do Roam (branding genius}.

QOTD: Steel-cut oats (first love was Frosted Flakes!)

I have been enjoying S. African wines for a couple of years now and it is still easy to find many good values in their wines. I have several pinotages that I especially like and some great chenin blancs.

I’m a new viewer and this is my first comment- and have been watching for about a month. I really like your show.

Cereal question- Frosted Mini Wheats. Probably the only thing halfway healthy I eat.

Too bad about the Pinotage…was waiting for the bananas.

QOTD: Over the years you try different cereals and get on different kicks. But I alway come back to Cheerios. Guess, I’m just old school brother…

    Former lurker checkin’ in!

Hey the set looked great today–you guys change the lighting around or somethin’?

    I don’t eat cereal.

  • cma82

Ahh, too bad the pinotage didn’t work out for you. I’m always down to enjoy one of those.

QOTD: Gotta be the rasin bran. Two scoops of goodness

  • Gary

Tell the people more about the grapes. More education. Do the Vaynernation knows that Chardonnay is made from Gouais Blanc and Pinot Noir, Cab Sauv is a clone combo of Cab Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, Vidal is the combo of Ugni Blanc and Rayon d’Or which is a Vitis Lambrusca grape. Maybe the Vayniacs would find it intresting to know some about the difference between the “European” vine, Vitis Vinifera and the “American” vine Vitis Lambrusca and how the to are important to each other. And there is a new law for grapes that are combos between Vinifera and Lambrusca (e.g Vidal).

    QotD : I like granola
