Hey gary, what ever happened to the fabled restaurant tour of 2007? We should see if we can get that going. We have some awesome places here in boulder that you need to come visit.

Great show today. Favorite quote of the day – “This vintage has cleavage!” Niicce!!!

QOTD: Roadshows!! Come over to my town Gary! The Bay Area loves ya! I also predict you will have a kick ass 2008!

  • Great show! Speaking of Mott shirts. I’d wear one. You gotta do something!

QOTD: I see you bringing in guests. Mostly I predict that you will try to keep things as they flowed this year. I don’t see anything happening next year that would be too too major, just my thought.

Great episode. I like it when GV tackles a variety of sought-after, interesting wines. (Themed, regional shows are good, too, but I’d like to see a show like this every week or two.)

  • Mmm, El Nido. Gimme fruit! *making a note to pick up the Mahi at work*

QOTD: For 2008, I expect more contests, more interaction â?? hopefully including more â??taste-alongsâ? â?? and more on-site shows, like the cellar one. That was really cool.

I predict Vayniacs coming together in groups across the country (as some of us have in Madison!) and one of the contests including a group tasting/taping.

I am also hoping 2008 brings some wonderful and much-needed changes in SHIPPING LAWS so I can ship WineLibrary to Wisconsin! Stupid archaic rules.

    Great Show!

QOTD: For 2008, I am thinking an episode taped from the WL Super Tasting. It would have to begin with the camera panning across every bottle out to give Vayniacs a true idea of what an awesome event it really is. Prizes to Vayniacs who show up with any kind of Vayner-nation id.

I see Gary going far this year, with the continued expanding of America’s culinary awareness, which is evident from the continued sucess of Foot TV, and the myriad of other food/wine inspired programs, as well as the number of stores geared towards the gormet food (Chef-Central, BB&B, Williams-Sonoma) and wine enthusiast (upscale “liquor stores” that have begun to really branch out their wine selection).

With America begining to experiment with so many different cuisines, cultures, and tastes, the wine world is right there with it. With the food/wine episodes that Gary is starting to increase, I think Food TV is a distinct possibility. It really doesn’t have any programming that focuses on this particular subject. For instance, the wine & steak show had me drooling for a Medium Rare New York Strip. Knowing what to pair with everything from Mexican to Thai to Sushi, in addition to the tradional French, Contemporary American, and Italian pairings, would be welcome on my TV set indeed.

To everyone, have a Happy Holiday Season and a Safe and Prosperous New Year.

    OOOPS!

I meant Food TV, not Foot TV.

Foot TV would be that traditional wine crushing channel.

QOTD: I think WineLibraryTV will probably get a lot bigger amongst the “21-35 / at least some college” demographic IF A) Gary keeps doing apperances in big media and B) the producers and executives are looking and made aware of growth of the wine industry.

I’ll admit, some of the potential for WineLibrary to get really big depends on wine makers and related businesses’ willingness to spend ad dollars. WineLibrary.TV is already regarded by the shows (Nightline, Conan) spotlighting it as THE big show about wine. And as the wine industry and/or luxury goods industries start to put more marketing dollars into television/internet advertising, Winelibrary will see a continued rise. It may even be immune to recession given the fact that internet is a very trackable medium (but that’s a whole other discussion).

I hope all that makes sense.

I can’t wait to try to Mahi, though I can’t order wine for awhile. Our wine rack is full and our apartment is small 🙁

QOTD: Where will winelibrary tv be? I love the Friday guest slot idea. More updates on the Vayniac cab? Could you do an episode on the effects of aging on wine, maybe with something you have your own tasting notes on say 5 or 10 years ago and try it again now?

QOTD: I think in 08′ your internet viewership will continue to rise. I could eventually see an offer from the Food Network at some point, which I hope you would decline. I would hate to see you go “Rachel Ray” on all of us and get your mug scattered all over the TV. I don’t want to hear every grandmother and housewife throwing out “sniffy-sniffs.” Peace

Gary – I went back and looked at the decanting episode and your episode number one. The difference between then and now is huge!! Where 2008 takes you is hard to predict, but if the quality, excitement and education you provide continues to improve I will watch every episode. You help us all better appreciate what we drink and expand our adventures in wine.

  • QOTD: I’m guessing more product placementâ?¦ I mean, radool giveaways like the ones we saw in the last couple of weeks. But I’m pretty much OK with that! Oh yeah, and Mott gets a T-shirt that sells better than GV’s dodgeball shirt. Friction between host and cameraman over this leads to a monumental 4th of July showdown, in which GV and Mott face off across a desk, paper footballs in hand, with Robert Parker as referee.

Who wins? Tune in and seeâ?¦

QOTD – I could see more contests in our future – as exposure grows and companies appreciate the Vayniacs – they’ll send schwag to GV to give away. Probably more guests, but let’s keep that in check. And most of all, I predict alot more wine isgoing to be tasted!!

BTW – Mott – Link it UP!!!

my prediction is in 2008 you will say the bourdeaux of 2005 was still the best vintage…however, you will say that prices have came down….I think after all the hype is through and the spotlight turns towards another area prices will fall below release price for a while and then go back up when the spotlight hits bordeaux again…..you see this all of the time with auction indexes and when wines get higer prices….you can see this as you look up some cabs from their glory days that released at 100+ and now selling for half….I could be wrong, but I want it in the records for 2008.

    Great Show!

  • Good Thunder show, as usual, man.

In case anyone’s curious about Mahi, the winemaker there, Brian Bicknell, is one seriously sharp dude and a very nice guy. He made the wine at Seresin Estate for several years and did a lot of winemaking in Chile. Mahi also has a very bright, cool viticulturist, one of the most highly respected in the region. So the mad props from GV shouldn’t come as a big surprise. I was really impressed with these guys’ wines at Seresin, so I’m glad to see they’re bringing the thunder on Mahi.

QOTD: I predict that the Thunder Show gets a band, and hires away Paul Schaffer from Letterman.
