I wish I could go on a wine vacation but I am buying a 15 acre ranch in the Dallas area this month. About 5 acres forest and 10 acres pasture . Then I will be surrounded by many square miles of forest. I am from Chicago , I have lived in Dallas before, but never owned that much land. Thats my vacation!!!! Maybe I will strategically plant wines around my property and and act like I am doing a wine walk. It’s all about the imagination KIDS!!!!

QOTD: My wife and I along with another couple are going to Washington State October 11th through the 19th to taste and stock up on WA reds. We are going to focus on W2 but venture out from there as well.

QOTD: Because I have family in the Bay Area I usually get down there a couple of times a year. So we do Napa/Sonoma, of course. Last year we went down to Paso Robles. This year I’m thinking we might check out Lodi and/or Amador county. And I’d like to get out to Walla Walla for at least a weekend. And I’ll be in Oregon for 10 days in July for the Olympic Track & Field trials and we’ll most likely visit a couple of places in the Willamette Valley. I’d like to get down to Abecela in Roseburg, OR and check out what they’re doing with tempranillo and albarino and grenache and dolcetto in the beautiful Umpqua Valley.

I don’t have any wine trips planned, BUT I am making the big move from Connecticut to California this summer for law school. There may be some weekends in my not too distant future.

Have had a couple Cananaus from Sicily lately. Very interesting region and grape, the wine has a very soft mouthfeel.

WOOOOOOAAAHHHHHH….. What was that about Brett Favre??? Like Roger Clemens??? Are you saying he CHEATS??? You’ll have a lot of Cheesheads to answer to if you ain’t careful, GV. You don’t have to like him, but… just tread lightly, my friend.
QOTD: Wine trip this year? Hopefully we’ll head up the CA coast again and explore some more Anderson Valley wineries.

QOTD- Zinfandel Festivel in Paso Robles, CA in March. Then back in April to help bottle some wines at one on the new wineries on the Central Coast.

Going to visit my brother in Santa Barbara this summer. Went to Foley there last summer as well as about a half a dozen other vineyards. Looking to visit even more this trip.

Good to have you back! I don’t have a wine trip planned but have to go to a wedding in Auburn, CA. There should be something nearby, I hope.

I am headed to Walla Walla, for a wine excursion that shall be straight up balla? Horrible rhyme I know, but I am lurker who made his new year resolution, to post on at least three wine videos a week. I am a member of the CKC and am looking for a job that will get me the income that will allow me to develop my pallet. I love your show, and you didn’t answer my question. All well. Go Packers, since my Donkeys suck so bad.

Well, if 2007 is any sort of indicator, I’ll be making three or four wine trips to the Central Coast of California this year – first one is in February. My brother lives in Manhattan, and I am in the city four times a year as well. I’d like to come visit the Wine Library in 2008, as well, while back east. You should set up an event in Manhattan at one of the wine bars in the city and invite us to join you (at our own expense, of course). I would buy a plane ticket in a heart beat.

Qotd: No firm plans yet, got a wedding in Hawaii (this week), a baby shower in Corvallis, Oregon next month and another wedding in Vegas in March. Trip to Japan in April (sake tastings?), so bummer part, don’t have much time to do some winery tastings (maybe I could sneak one in at Corvallis ??) Shh, don’t tell my wife. Still got the rest of the year, but it’s filling up fast.

Great to have you back and don’t retire the sniffy,sniffy, I likey, like it !

QOTD: I want to go to France and practice my French while drinking wine with every meal and enjoying the food and scenery.

Gary, glad to see that you are back in good form. I don’t understand the need to do away with your trade-mark sniffy-sniff, but hey… it’s your show. (We just watch.)

QOTD: Monthly trips to Napa Valley and up Monte Bello mountain. But this summer a coworker is visiting his mother land (France) and he wants to drag my palette through Burgundy’s soils. To date, I’m more of a Rusian River Pinot fan (the 2005’s are turning out great!), but we’ll see. It figures that I always go to France when the dollar is at its weakest a(last visit was 1995).
