The Cat Food Episode!!!! It was great! Really enjoyed the guest and your interaction with her. Still can’t get over the great reference to cat food and dinosaur heads. Great stuff!

That was different. But fun! I like having cool guests that aren’t in the wine industry.

This was an awesome episode. More of these duets with this lady please! I love that she’s a Brit, I live in England, and this has definitely made a connection across the big pond to good old Europe. You two complement each other well with your knowledge and backgrounds. Keep it up!

  • Try the Chateau Musar ’99 from Lebanon. This wine must be decanted first. Do a show on wines that must be decanted. Great show this was, gorgeous lady, fun! I didn’t get the QOTD

I don’t think I have ever seen a show with so many sexual inuendos comming from one person…she was a fun, fun guest and certainly brought the laughter. Cat food and the guiness book of world records. Awsome….
QOTD: Confusing as hell….I’ll let somone else google it.

GV, you should have done a food pairing episode with her, marmite and toast, Branston pickle and cheese sandwiches, or even stewed eel in a lunch pail, etc.

And GV, you’re becoming a dangerous man, promoting the daredevil life, exposing American Vayniacs to the rarefied child rearing practices of foreigners. Some poor naive Vanyiac is going to give his kid some spring water with a few drops of wine and before he knows it some other paterfamilias from the block will be calling in the incident to the authorities.

Probably the funniest episode of WLTV ever!
Joanne Rocks, loved her British accent, speaking French, and the
cat food and bone marrow comments.

First time poster, long time lurker here. Great episode. Beautiful lady and it really works when you have someone with a bit less of a defined palette than yourself. It gives us newbies someone to relate to. Kudos!!!

What a show. Also, as a new fan, not sure if others felt this way as well, 230 some comments are a lot to read, I LOVED the rehash of the whole taste and smell thing and how you “see” all the different things in the wine once you get past the alcohol. Watching Joanne bring the thunder made me want to get out there and give the whole thing a try as well! Thanks a ton!

I’m obviously in the minority here, but i thought your guest was awful. She apparently never drinks wine, nor does she seem to enjoy it very much. More importantly, i have trouble understanding how anyone could be unable to ask a simple opinion generating question impromtu…. Wow, she said a wine smelled like catfood and everyone was blown away like this was the most imaginative and profound comment ever made. I guess that I fail to see how this was such a laudable accomplishment for a person equipted with a memory, olfactory senses, and a vocabulary. Maybe i’m being too negative, or perchance i sniffed a few too many glasses of wine and lost m’head!

    L,

I liked her for exactly the reasons you disliked her. There really was no need to point out her shortcomings. She represents a large portion of us who know very little about wines and are watching these vids to learn. Some of us are not yet as refined as you. Besides, Gary was there to counter-balance her. I think I would be bored watching Gary with another wine aficionado. She was fun, peppy, different, and pretty to boot. What’s there to complain about?

I am also in the minority that felt today’s guest wasn’t really that awesome. I won’t comment on her looks because I am above that.

Basically I felt that she was OK .. but she’s really not that into wine and her “style” – kind of wordy and understated – didn’t mesh well, in my opinion, with your more up-front, less subtle approach. I kind of felt myself wanting to fast forward through her very long descriptions of how it is in France.

Personally . .I would like to see you NOT get more Web 2.0 guests . . but instead get experts and guests from the wine world or at the very least guests who are famous for other things but at least like and drink wine.

I thought she brought a fresh funny perspective to WLTV and really enjoyed the episode. Wine is and should be fun when consumed life has too many serious sides to it. Drink wine and be happy..

OK, first off the show was great. There was some good information on the wines tasted along with some fun banter between the two. Why can WLTV not have a guest who does not have a load of wine experiance, it gives us a little more incite into what the avarege “joe” or “jolien” thinks about a wine and that can not be bad. Would those that did not like this ep prefer to have a load of stiffs on the show? Talk about freaking boring Speaking of Jolien, can you get the “Jolien” on the show?

Geez Louise. What a great show. Rarely do I laugh out loud when watching (any) show, but caught myself on a couple of occasions. Very entertaining. The fact that Joanne isn’t much of a drinker didn’t, (for me), distract from the message. In fact, many people are not into wine, but they can still enjoy the experience, and some of her comments were apparently spot on. Top 20 stuff here.

Entertaining show, good wine choices, beautiful and witty guest. I suggest inviting her back so we can see how her palette develops.

QOTD: The highest price paid for any bottle has been 105,000 British Pounds ($157,000 US) for a 1787 Chateau Lafite claret sold to Christopher Forbes (USA) at Christie’s London on December 5, 1985. The price was affected insofar as the bottle was initialed by Thomas Jefferson (1743 1826), 3rd President of the United States! –Guiness Book of World Records
