Totally agree about the heat problem, would have had a great cab yesterday if it wasn't for the heat from the 14.9 alcohol completely killing it.

  • That Gewurz sounds awesome! Will add that to my list of wines to look for.
This is yet another e.g. of excellent, passionate wine programming. YOU ROCK!
So… what is that up your sleeve… is that another 101 WINES! 🙂 Heh heh

QOTD: I wish I could make a video, I think it would be funny :-), but don’t have the equip, so a blog entry on my nascent blog or on myspace will have to do. I already gush to everyone I know about WLTV btw!

My wife wants me to go vegetarian. It wouldn’t really bother me except that there aren’t any vegetables that taste good. I think even if I went vegan I would still be rolling deep with the red wines.

QOTD: I’m not going to do anything cause I’m lazy and I’m not an Apple person and I don’t know crap about video. But I wish you the best of luck!!

  • Gary, the Post article is very complimentary and right on. I love the way you are not afraid to dis a wine if it doesn’t fit your palette. Too many wine critics try to say something nice about a wine even when it is a looser. Keep up the good work.

You struck a bell with me on the Gewurtz; it always reminds me of Tide laundry soap.

Good show GV. QOTD: Word of mouth, no fancy Blog stuff etc. Not an Apple Fan, you can give mine to someone else. How about a bottle of the sold out Barth Rene?

Keep up the great work GV and Mott. Later.

  • GV – thanks for the veggie show! QOTD – Try and do something on my blog! Which 9 people look at every 3 months – but its grassroots baby.

I have an iPod and download them every night and listem to the Thunder show on the way to work each day. Lots of fun and beats any radio we get.

QOTD: I have been telling people already, but maybe an email to the friends who I know enjoy wine and set up some “LINKS” to a few of the fun shows. Easy to pick from. I have to be carefull though as there are not a lot of Jets fans in Hawaii.

I also was never aware of all of the various groups/blogs/forums etc until I started watching your show. Thanks

    Keep it up.

  • My blogs are medical and my patients don’t want to hear or even know about wine as many of them are fundamentalists who don’t drink and my last video sucked so it is unlikely I will be doing either. I tell everyone I meet at wine tastings about WLTV and most wine purveyors have never heard of you so I hope it helps. Got my son involved and he is basically a CKC in NYC and he has gotten together a wine tasting group based on your videos. That’s about the best I can do.
This episode wasn’t one that did much for me though. I really don’t like and have never liked Gewürtztraminer or South African Chenin Blanc though I love French Chenin Blancs and I have stored 6 or 7 Viogniers that are better values than the one you tasted.

I was somewhat puzzled about yesterday’s episode. While the young woman was nice enough and their wines get good write-ups, getting Swiss wines in the US is quite difficult and I still can’t find a US purveyor who will ship to Virginia. The Pinot Gris sounded great and I would love to get some but can’t find it anywhere but at the winery and they can’t ship here.

I love Gewurztraminer’s, but more so in the summer. And the Rose’s are getting very intriguing. My memories about them are not pleasant one’s… High School & gallon jugs, I don’t think that counts. QOTD: I can’t see a video coming from my direction, but I posted blogs on both myspace and facebook telling about the virtues of Gary Vey-ner-chuk.

Nice food pairing show. That rose was about the most brilliant color rose I have every seen. My local wine shop has a Rene Barth Muscat, but not the Gewürztraminer. Think I’ll try it out.

QOTD: Think I’ll paz. Not too much into the contest thing.

GV: you had so much energy today, and not in a bad australian shiraz fake fruit bomb kind of way. You were genuinely in a good mood and I’m going to just be smiling the rest of the day.
Loved the review of the Gevrtz! Who would have thought that wines from alsace could be so good with asian cuisine, but it just works doesn’t it.

QOTD: Oh yeah, definitely getting in on that action. I’ll spend the weekend formulating my master plan.

  • This was a dream episode for me – I love those style of wines, and had the Turkey Flats a couple of months ago BUT pouring half of it away to rinse your glass was NOT cool, OK? It was $20 here and only gave it 87 – maybe I need to re-calibrate my scoring? TNs- “Spicy watermelon aroma, fresh and lively, but with a subtle smokiness as well. Dry in the mouth, refreshing apple component with a decent length – a well made rose worth seeking out.”

I always have time for Chenin and Viognier, but that Gewurtz sounded exquisite – I was all geared up for a Chasselas this weekend but now I may have to head over to Alsace.

QOTD – “Spread the Thunder”, nice idea. I’m away next week so may not be able to catch the episodes until I get back but I’ll see what I can spread over in the Holy Land!

  • I found this episode very interesting as I have been a vegetarian for over 20 years. I was surprised you didn’t try some red greek wines with the type of food you were eating. I don’t think most people understand the depth of spices in most of vegetarian food. I usually go for a red wine with tabouli, hummus and the falafel..and some good goat cheese. Thanks for doing a show for a veggies!!!

Great show today Gary… that Rose DOES have awesome color… as my friend Jason would say “It has delicious color!”

QOTD: I’m hoping to participate. I don’t have a blog, but if i message everyone I know on facebook, does that count?

    Dear Gary:

Saw you on NY News show (ABC-TV.) First time I’ve ever watched the show. YOU’RE HILARIOUS!!! While just a moderate wine drinker, I always thought wine talk was snobbish and stuffy. This is gonna be fun – LOL

    Thanks

Gary!! Thanks for doing the vege show. You pulled though on something I have been waiting for. Good energy. Never tried campfire roasted mushrooms, but hey, will have to give it a try and build the palette.

Great lineup Gary, that Rose sounds dee-lish and I LOVED the color of it even before you said anything. Gorgeous wine.
