    GV,
What a great episode! I was laughing out loud most of the way through. Okay, before the massive qotd’s I have to give a shout out to Pipes. She’s an incredibly beautiful, charismatic, and down-to-earth person. If she’s ever in the need for conversation and wine-drinking when passing through central- Illinois, let me know!

Gary, more Vayniacs (and cheese) on wltv.

qotd Gary: your dad is at least 68.
qotd Pipes: a sherpa or sherpani at work in Nepal I’d like to be in awe of both what they can do, and breathe the rarified air.
    qotd Sasha: Obama

    QOTD’s:

    1) 63
    2) tagging along with Bob Parker on one of his tasting days would be pretty sweet
    3) It would be nice if Obama took it. Time will tell.

    Pipes is HAWT!

Nice job Pipes. A little controlled chaos there at Wine Lib!

    QOTDS:

GV – Sascha (sp?) is 60
Pipes – I had to think about that one. I guess maybe an architect, because I’ve been considering that as a second career when I retire at age 50 (less than 6 years!!!)

Sascha – Unfortunately, I think it will be McCain. The lesser of all the evils that will be an option I’m sure, but still…that’s how we got Bush…

  • QOTD 1: 62 years old
    QOTD 2: a top chef (and I don’t mean a Top Chef)
    QOTD 3: Obama

I’ve had my three-day old daughter on my lap during this whole episode. She flinched slightly when Gary opened the show, but otherwise was here for the whole thing. It’s great!

    QOTD1: 52
    QOTD2: A spy
    QOTD3: Bloomberg

P.S. Conan is about as funny as a corked wine.

  • winejedi

This episode proves the point that even with sub-par wine, the company you keep can make the worst wine tolerable. Big ups for that!

QotD no.1: I’ll have to venture a guess at 53, with a birthday coming up sooner rather than later.

QotD no.2: I’d shadow any member of the Blue Angels (U.S. Navy), Thunderbirds (U.S.A.F.), or the Red Arrows (Royal A.F.), just to see REAL jets up close and personal.

QotD no.3: The next President of the U.S. may as well be the Oak Monster, with the Butter Bandit as VP. I’m writing in my vote for Leafy McOAK for the 2K8 Election!

Greetings from a very dejected Pats fan in full on mourning.
Watching this episode as I type, almost too shocked and depressed to do so… but,
If it were anyone else I’d be happy for the Giants, they played a hell od game and beat on the Pats. They definately wanted it hardcore and played their asses off. Best game they’ve played all year and probably the worst game the Pats have played = Giants win.
Anyhow, Pipes is great! Rock on girl, awesome journey to be on. Great addition to the episode without a doubt. Big Fruity Pebbles fan!
I’ve basically been a lurker, only commenting a half dozen times so far. But I love it and the Thunder all the way. (oh! mention of politics! Geez, insult to injury today. First the Pats now Romney, ugh!) I do want to inquire with everyone about OTBN. A reporter came into our store and inquired about it. I’m researching it at the moment and kind of intriqued so far. We’re thinking of putting an email out to our clientele, along with a Thunder Show plug. So, Open That Bottle Night is an event started by the wine writers from the Wall St. Journal in 2000. It’s feb. 23rd this year. Apparently, it’s an evening to get together with folks or not, but ultimately open that bottle you’ve sitting on for a little too long or just rediscovered in the bottom of a collection or something. The one you’ve been saving for an occasion that never came, etc. Evaluate it and takl about it. Anyway, please leet me know or give your thoughts on this. Is anyone doing this or done with it? I kind of end up doing this all the time anyway, but sounds like a cool idea for any groups of people that get together for tastings. Huge rambling comment sorry, but would love some feedback in the comments.
    QOTD 1: 58
QOTD 2: Hef. The reasons are obvious.
QOTD 3: Apparently nobody that’s is serious about our greater economic situation and that isn’t going to spend us into oblivion or cares about our borders! Given the choices, I guess Obama for his hopefulness for our nation and inexperience wiith entrenched Washington BS, so long as he somehow became more fiscally conservative and serious about security and picked real deal peeps for his cabinet that know what needs to be done and let them do it.

Hello Jen, Sasha, and GV! That was just great. You made some pretty bad wine very fun.

    QOTD#1- 59
QOTD#2- GRE in his new job
QOTD#3- Obama with J. Edwards as Veep

QOTD: As for sweet Sasha (who reminds me so much of my darling departed Dad it’s scary) I’m guessing 53.
I’d like to work with our soldiers recovering at Walter Reed or Bethesda.
And although even a Muslim country had a woman as head of state, this crazy country still doesn’t think a woman could hang and the media and the right have attached far too many negatives to her (although when pressed they can’t come up with much that’s concrete-God forbid we have a smart, strident female who displays emotions on the odd occasion) so I would be quite happy with a President Obama, well spoken, intelligent and inspiring. After eight years of Mushmouth, we could stand to gain back some cred in the world.

I can’t believe that your are the 21 1/2 most popular wine show on the internet. My advise – don’t believe what other people say. Your are No. 1. I challenge anyone to find a better show. Admit it, your are the best and everyone knows it.

  • kaybee

What a show! Sasha is so cool.
    QoTd
1.I think Sasha is barely 50.
2.I’d like to shadow Robert Parker or GV when it’s time to tape the eps.
3.Probably McCain, but how anyone will be happy with that, I don’t know.

WLTV Instant Classic. LOL’ed twice. loved when you appealed to Sasha “dad, don’t break my chops” and he gave you the dad look and Jen’s reaction to Sasha’s mention of his “toys” – priceless ‘net content.

QotD: even 60, Jeff Davies because i’d learn from a cool master, i’d bet HC though i’m rooting against her.

    1. Sasha is 54 a year younger than me.

    2. I would love to follow Sasha if we could get Jen to come along to keep us company

3.I believe the question is who I think will be the next President; Clinton.

Oh, Jen asked me to watch this episode…well not really but if I said she did I was hoping she would stop by on the way back…North Dakota is on the way.

  • The 400s have been bringing serious thunder! Thanks, everyone, for another great episode. This was so much fun to watch. Can’t even answer the QOTDs, I’m laughing so hard at the back-and-forth.

P.S. Gary, I think your dad would totally whup Conan. I’m just sayin. Better keep those two separated.

Great episode. Sasha’s expression towards the end when he started looking at the toys was priceless.

QOTD: Sasha is 58? If I could go back in time, I would follow the late Russian film director, Andre Tarkovsky, on the set of “Stalker,” because I love film in general and IMO, he was the greatest director of the 20th century for his incredibly deep understanding of the possibility of capturing time, space, and image on celluloid film. I’m hoping for Obama with a really good cabinet.

  • Cephalopunk – Will Piper

What a coincidence, my last name is Piper, and the wine director at my last job decided to call me, Pipes.
    My first response QOTD answer:
    1) Late fifties, and we’ll leave it at that. Roguishly handsome, I must agree Jen. Does anyone know the episode numbers for Sasha’s previous appearances?
    2) I’ve done a lot of cooking, so it’s tempting to say one of the great or compelling cooks, like Ferran Adria – I would love to trail him. Someone like Selosse, Deiss, Zind-Humbreit or Joly, ie a great wine maker would be neat, but honestly, what is a day with Bjork like?
    3)Obama – he’s left-handed (look into it).
