Unfortunately I can’t receive the four-pack…I’m from Montreal (Canada), but…I liked the show and you I just gought a bottle of Furmint Disznoko Tokaji Dry 2005 that I will try tonight.

Sometimes your can do a “sports” wine show with the wines of Mike Weir, Wayne Gretzky, Ernie Els, Greg Normand even Jarno Trulli (F1) and some others.

  • QOTD: Great show as always!

Gary: PLEASE SEND ME A WRIST BAND! I’ve got my camera and I’d really like to send ya a photo… but so far I don’t think anything has made it up here to the great white north. I only wish we could get those packs up here. Sadly, wine distribution is pretty limited in my neck of the woods.

    Peace, from Winnipeg Manitoba.

From the hip and the heart Gary, excellent episode! I have always thought the wine I drink tastes better the next day, and I can’t recall it ever tasting worse. Day 4 however has sometimes been a different story. I’ve never had a Tokaji or a Canadian wine and now I’m excited to do so. I had 2 nights of Wine classes here in Billings that were 3 hours long each and phenomenol. We had 10 different whites one night and 15 reds the next next with super good food pairings. Our instuctor owns Bridge Creek Backcountry Kitchen and Wine Bar in Red Lodge, MT. During one of the breaks I asked him if he had heard of Wine Library TV and he said, “Oh, is that Stephen Tanzer?” (Ha Ha!) I said, “No, Gary Vaynerchuk” and he said he had heard of you but hadn’t seen your show yet so I sent him a link to your episode on getting your palate trained which is probably one of my favorites. Got to keep spreading the thunder even though the contest is over. I am also trying to comment on every episode to get your comment counts up and I hope everyone else can try to do the same. Thanks for all your hard work Gary!

    Great soapbox rant-so true.
When I buy I keep an eye on the scores but try not to be driven by them. Very helpful when you are starting out.

Pull up on them 24’s, while I leanin on the doors
and I’m letting sucka’s know, that I get it for da low

QOTD: I’ve had the Pannon Tokaji Dry Furmint 2004 a few times. It’s killer and only 12.50. It can seriously hang with Eastern European whites at twice the price.

  • Loved the show. I watched with my fiance who is NOT a wine person and he really liked the Tokaji. I was so excited to see this in the pack because I had just read some books where the characters were drinking this kind of wine and I really wanted to try it. Thanks again for the great pack and this fun experience!

  • Gary,

What a great show. A diverse selection to enjoy with the lucky vayniacs who got the secret pack.

QOTD – One of your best shows. Why? Because you not only give a honest look at the wines you are sharing with us all, you also enjoy sharing the passion you have for wine in general. A passion we vayniacs truly enjoy and the reason I and most of us watch your shows.

I hope to find the Tokaj here in Canada. Do ship wine to a U.S. P.O Box. Man I’m tempted to set up such a thing so that I can get my hands on the unique selections you offer. The rose also was very interesting. As a matter of fact all four wines were quite interesting.

I also found your second chance with the Mike Weir Cab/Merlot entertaining. You are on the mark regarding wines from Canada. The culture is evolving in leaps and bounds and there is so much for everyone to explore and enjoy. the area where the Mike Weir wines are created is one of the finest in the Niagara region.

    Great great show!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers

Did enjoy the show, might have to order the dry furmint, sounds rawkin. I must say though that when you swirl decanters, especially ones that have had wine in them for a long time, it always makes me nervous that you’re going to kill a wine through over-aeration.

QOTD: I’ve only had a Tokaji once, and it was dinner at Michael Mina in San Francisco that they had paired with Foie Gras. Absolutely amazing! I just want to say that I loved this episode Gary! I haven’t been watching long enough to have participated in the secret 4 pack tasting with you, but I definitely want in next time! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I could not have agreed with you more. In the end, what is a score anyways? Here’s to each and everyone one of us exploring wines that we’ve never had before, expanding our palates, and finding wines that we love along the way!

    Hi!

    A little correction:

Dereszla Dry Tokaji 2006 – this wine is not only made of furmint. It was made of “furmint”, “hárslevelű”, and “sárgamuskotály”. Both of them old Hungarian kind of grapes.

If anyone would like a dry furmint, I can offer you Oremus “Mandolás” Furmint 2005. It’s a very nice type of dry furmint.
