QOTD: 2007 Viu Manent Malbec from Chile. Lots of funk on the nose, but a really tasty wine, especially for under $6.

  • QotD: Pepperwood Grove Pinto Grigio

    http://www.donsebastianiandsons.com/threeloosescrews/pepperwoodgrove/pinotgrigio.php

Bought this at Safeway on sale for $5. Wine isn’t bad, just boring. Lack of acidity, lack of aromatics. Fine to buy a generic light white for some group event but not something I’d choose to drink. Pass.

(Their $5 Pinot Noir otoh was a good value.)

    Whoa Gary BAYBEE,

March Madness has me behind on my WLTV so I’m playing catch up. A little Ritalin might help…..I’ve had the Hedges CMS and agree it’s a good everyday wine however we pay about $14 for it around here in MD wine shops. It might lose its status on your QPR at our price. Your score is invaluable to me Gary so don’t leave us out there in the Wine Wilderness without a score as that would be uncivilized. (Sir Charles Right Guard commercial)

Thanks to you and the dynamics of the value of our currency the US Dollar I’m voting Spain/Portugal as the best QPR available from Europe. I had a bottle of Ribero del Duero in a 2005 called Vivir, Vivir. It was about 14 bones and it brought the thunder! Kudos to Aurelio Cabestrero at Grapes of Spain who continues to import nice selections from Spain in all price categories.

Wow, what a steroid pumped episode. Welcome back Gary, we missed you.

QOTD: 2006 Ca’ Del Solo Muscat. It was very nice with a complex nose of melons and wet stone. It is pleasantly clean and refreshing without the sweetness of most Muscat, but with all the fragrance and flavor. I like it a lot.

Gary, I love your show…I’m new to wine and have learned a lot from watching your show. Thanks.

QOTD: The last wine I had was a 1998 Gran Oristan La Mancha Gran Reserva. It didn’t bring the thunder, but it was decent and a great QPR…especially since I found it in my wine stores closeout bin for $5!

I’m a lurker. I usually get your podcast so I don’t get a chance to comment!

QOTD – last wine that I had was at the sterling winery outside of napa, did the wine tour and loved ALL of their wines! Specifically, the Sterling Pinot Gris. It was amazing. If anyone gets a chance to check out sterling, I’d highly suggest it.

Kunde Sauv Blanc with some awesome sushi while on vaca in Jupiter FL. Thunderous.

Also- the people at the table next to us were total Vayniacs. Had to laugh when we overheard them talking about Gary. The thunder is spreading in Florida.

ShotfireRidge Barossa Shiraz 2006 #57 from wine spec. top 100. It is the best ’06 I have had, and at 20 bones I like waht the wine is doing. Great structure, sweet fruit and yummy vanilla right on through to the finish.

I’m a little bit late to this comment party but I’m stoked your back Gary!

The last wine I had was the “Piping Shrike 2006 Shiraz” it was on Friday night with a bunch of friends during a great snowboarding vacation. I say that because the environment may have clouded my judgement. In my opinion it definitely brough the thunder especially on the nose. Being new to wine I was stoked to pick up something randomly that turned out so well.
