    QOTD: Trebbiano

Since your last episode with a Greco di Tufo (#322), I have had 3 wines of that varietal: the Mastroberardino, the Vesevo, & the Feudi. Of the 3, I liked the Mastroberardino the most.

  • Yes GeeVee, we CAN tell you love doing this! You were born for this!
QOTD: Never had a Greco di tufo! This will change soon!

This week I will drink a half-bottle of Italian dessert wine that I just picked up, which is an unusual choice for me. I forget the variety, but it is a white Italian, so it qualifies for a TT (Task-Tuesday) selection!

FYI: I’ll gladly put a widget on my website for your book! Best of luck with that there book!

I’m glad you are continuing with the show! I watch every episode!

I’ve been out of pocket for a few days, had a sudden death of a close friend. I will catch up on the episodes, but I just want to remind you ALL to do a “Vaynerchuk”: kiss and hug all of your family and friends and tell them you love them!

Send Victor Hobson a case of the Aminea!
(Since you probably won’t be selling much)
Then tell him to watch the show.
I’m thinking I need to talk my wife into fish for dinner and stop by the wine shop.
That was a great show GV, Thanks!

  • Time to take a sports chill pill Gary! You should watch the last episode of Bones, where she states that athletes are “acting out childish games as if they have adult importance. The only thing more juvenile are grown adults who watch sports.” – Direct quote.

I’ve got my Third Thirsty Thursday group going. We’re going to always bring something that we haven’t had before.

I think I’ve had a Greco di Tufo before. Must not have been memorable to me however as I don’t remember when. I must have gotten one where the rubber hit the road.

I did order out some of yesterday’s Zinfadel however. I’m excited for it to arrive!

last night I tried a Trebbiano d’Abruzzo called Marraniero from a producer Anima. it had great acidity and was a really good food wine with a spicy salami pizza and a pasta dish with sausage.

also had a taste of in Italian Muller Thurgau which was really intriguing on the nose with a lot of tropical fruit, but kind of disappointing on the palate.

You know, I really think you should try to do more obscure varietals and give a little information about the region, culture, and cuisine – that would really help in broadening our horizons/palates.

Oh wait, you just did that! Nice job, an excellent episode.

How about some wines from Portugal, too? There are some kick butt reds and very reasonable whites at dirt cheap prices.

I really enjoy Greco di Tufo. I was introduced to it about a year ago and have drank plenty over the past year. My wife and I have drank plenty of the the Torricino. The alcohol blows off and starts to show more passion fruit and stones as it warms and over a couple of hours. I think your rating is a bit harsh, I would push it up to 88-89. You are right about the shell fish or fish in general; spot on.

I’ve never had a Greco Di Tufo.. That will soon change.. Two white Italian varitials I would like to try are Fiano and an Inzolia aka Inzolia, however it seems to be more of a blending grape. …

    Terroirist aka Mike in Nebraska.

  • Wow, I’ve never heard of this wine before. But I’m definitely going to be looking to try it now. Sounds like just the thing for Summer.

QOTD: I haven’t tried Trebbiano but I think I’ll look for that soon as well

  • Great show. I love Greco. Takes me back to Rome. Had a 2005 Feudi di San Gregorio in Rome in the summer of 2006 so I’m guessing it had just come out on the market. Definitely have to drink Greco young because this bottle rocked. We drank it at Ristorante il Gabriello near the Spanish steps. Outstanding. Fruity aroma with almond flavors that lingered for days. Absolutely perfect match with my primi piatti of mushroom risotto and secondi piatti of fresh scallops. Then had the same vintage back in the states last year and it wasn’t as good. Obviously the ambiance, my mood, the company all played a part in it, but the fresher bottle was better.

QOTD: I’m going to find some Arneis from the Piedmont. I’ve had loads of white varietals from Italy but not this one. I just googled up that it Arneis translates to “little rascal”…how cool is that. A little Spanky, Alfalfa, Darla…sweet.

  • surprised you didn’t pop a bottle of Feudi di San Gregorio…they gotta be the biggest, most widely available producer of Greco…no?

QOTD: Greco di Tufo 2006 Loggia della Serra Terredora.
My mother takes a weekly wine course so, if I’m home, I get to taste whichever bottle she grabs at the end! Lots of apple acidity, my kind of white.

    Back to my lurking hideout….
